My baby is 8 months now carried to full term with a filled band (dr removed some fluid at month 3 of pregnancy) went back about 3 weeks ago for a small fill and ended up in ER a few days later with dehydration, lost 7 pounds in a matter of days.. Had bad acid reflux had to get more fluid removed... The small fill he originally gave me made me feel "tighter" just the way it feels before a menstruation. Anyhow, I want to attribute my "tightness" to my hormones but not sure. The night I checked in to the ER they did an MRI on me and emergency dr attributed my band was too tight.. Saw my dr within a matter of hours felt great Relief with the removal of .5 cc's oh yeah he also said my port had flipped..... Looking/ pondering the thought of getting "sleeved" and I'm at 203 pounds now my fear is losing like 100 pounds I would weigh 100 and that's not healthy nor would it look healthy. I have always been a tall "healthy" big boned girl... Anyone out there with a similar experience? My dr said that if I kept spouting up acid reflux in the middle of the night that we'd take an X-ray with the barium stuff but he said he's not worried too much cause it might just be my hormones...... I'm giving this time to settle I guess but sleeve is sounding a lot better each passing day.. Any insight/thought/feedback? Thank you wls family.

I was banded on 8/23. My surgeon never had me cleanse myself prior to surgery, which I should have done on my own since my metabolism moves like molasses. Night 3 I was in the ER with horrible gas pains. I could not burp nor could I pass gas. I was miserable. Day 4 I finally had Milk of Magnesia and 8 x drops of mylicon infant gas drops- finally what was lodged in came out and I had some relief. The ER prescribled me a medication named reglan (sp?) to help things move along . I have not picked it up because the MM worked in conjunction with the infant gas drops! I have been down and out because of the excess trapped gas (which by the way is now more tolerable that I am able to burp /pass gas). I went to the grocery store today with my husband and I look pregnant! I've been walking a lot and doing mild chores around the house but what else can I do to help with belly swelling and excessive gas? I been second guessing this surgery since it has been a bumpy road! Now my mind is pondering band erosion ! (wth!?!) My goodness- I was washing dishes and looked at my wedding band that never comes off which has started becoming loose these past few days and the skin around the ring looks dehydrated! I'm comparing my finger to my stomach now and freaking out! Please someone out there tell me that this will get better. P.S. - SICK, SICK, SICK of the sugar free taste in my mouth! Grossed out with swanson's broth and smell too - any recommendations?

i just got banded yesterday. It took forever for them to take me back. My surgery was scheduled at 2:00 checked in at 11:30 had an IV in since 12 noon got taken back to surgery at 4 pm, was rushed out of recovery at about 7 pm they needed room for the next patient. In super pain maybe where my port is ? Doctor nor doctors office called to check on me. Been alternating between advil liquid caps and childrens meltaways, Did the hideous that I should not have done and added 3/4 of a banana to my protein shake this morning, Finally found out through hospital nurse I should not have done that because we are taking care of the stitches. Nausea was horrible until I had my protein shake my stomach finally settled but massive headache remained. I have a patch behind my ear for nausea. Any reassuring postive feedback is welcomed. Thank You.

Hello all! I was banded on Tuesday 8/23 had and continue to have painful gas. I'm afraid it will not subside for a few more weeks. I didn't realize that the stomach was blown up for the procedure so that gas lingers in the body and possibly resorbed through the intestines (?) not sure but painful as heck. This is a lot harder than I thought it would be. Im craving deli sandwiches on french rolls and all the other stuff that I shouldnt have right now or probably never will. Are there any of you out there that had the same issues as me? Also, kind of bummed because I just recently found out one of our family friends had lap band and had it removed and gained a hell of a lot of weight back. I dont want to be that statistic so now Im kinda turned off by the whole lapband deal. My dr. recommended vsg but honestly I was deathly afraid of going that route. At what point did some of you feel like there were no restrictions ? I guess this liquid diet is the pits for a very hungry girl. Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Hey congrats! My post op diet consists of clear fluids such as crystal light, tea, broth, Water ,sugar free jello, sugar free kool aid and sugar free frozen fruit pops and Protein shakes. Honestly I'm sick of the sweets and I want consistency. Yesterday I added 3/4 of a banana and I should not have. I didnt find out I was not supposed to do this until hours later.but my body was starving. The nurse said we are nursing the stitches and we dont want the band to slip.I had about 4 ounces and threw out the rest. I hear you! You want consistency or something of consistency in your stomach. Hang in there! In 2 weeks I can have cream of wheat. The nurse took oatmeal of the list because it expands in the stomach(?) But that alone sounds good right now too!!! I guess all doctors are different. I ordered unjury protein sample packets which i do not like. I added the unflavored protein pack to my broth last night. It wasnt bad because it blended in. I guess the protein made me feel a little more satisfied. I been eating a lot of the sugar free pops but really I want what my husband is cooking for himself and the kids; bbq and sauteed etc. and this is today because yesterday he made a big Breakfast and the smell made me feel nauseous. Our friend had his band removed due to slippage and he is larger than he was before he had lapband. Its dissapointing! my mom had to remind me yesterday about his mishap so that bummed me out! Hang in there and good luck! Oh yeah had my first shower last night since I got banded and the warmth felt really good on the body!
