    December sleevers!

im hoping my surgery is is Dec, i have been approved by insurance, on the 9th just waiting on the US Postal Service to DELIVER MY LETTER!!!!! grrrr. i feel sorry for my poor mail man, for a week he has been dropping my mail off first and knocking on the door to let me know he has been there. Its so frustrating that of all the things that could hold me up, its the mail!! heres to hoping my letter comes tomorrow....
  2. Vicki, i did my 6 months of required visits with my primary care physician. I just had to pay my 10 dollar copay every month (pretty good considering my whole surgery is covered) I would call the Bariatric office back again on Monday and see if they will speak with your PCP so you can get everything started. Good luck.

I Had My Surgery 4 Days Ago

ive been testing proteins out so after the surgery i dont have to do a lot of major shopping first weeks out, for this stage, i would drink the isopure, it is actually good, tastes a little bit like Kool-Aid, it is 5 bucks a 20 oz, bottle at GNC, a little expensive but think you can only drink a couple ozs at a time so it will last a day or 2. I also like Injury unflavored. the GNC 100 isolate whey protein unflavored isnt bad either. Check the protein section of this sight, there are all kinds of protein ideas and the different good flavors....
  4. its funny, i bought an expensive wool pea coat last year. $350.00, my husband said "that coat has better last you 5 years"............. I got it out of the closet last week it still fits cause im pre-surgery (approved just waiting on letter from insurance) but my husbands eyes buldged out remembering my expensive coat size 2X, and said ohhhh noooo you arent having that surgery for another 3 years or you are going to wear that coat next winter I dont care if it fits you or not BBAAAHHHAAAA Hopefully i will be able to sell it and get a new one next winter :-D
  5. Maybe you need your thyroid checked? get some bloodwork for T4, T5 and THS. thats what started making me gain in the first place.
  6. every doc must be different because mine just required 48 hours just liquids. its important to listen to what they say, it could be a major factor in your health.....

    Skinny girl issues...WTH!!!!!

its like you cant win either way!!! You look beautiful so just ignore all the haters. You have worked hard to get where you are. Remember the sleeve is just a tool and you did the rest! I know im not alone in this, i would rather people say i was too skinny than too fat. My best friend is super skinny and she hears that stuff everyday, its usually from the girls whos guys are checking her out!

    Approval Questions

im not sure but probably not as long as you dont go under the recommended BMI or other pre-quatfications your insurance put on you, it shouldnt mess anything up. I was approved without any other health issues because my BMI was over 40... I also had the 6 month of doc visits. My doc told me it was the time i should be learning to get in my protein, cutting out the sugar and carbs and get on an excersice rountine which will be very important after surgery. I dint lose much weight, but i have hypothyroidism and it was hard to lose in the first palce lol. I did get into a great gym, and am taking all kinds of fun cardio classes!

    B12 question

How have you been feeling since your surgery? I am absolutely no expert, im still pre op (approved, just waiting on the mail for my letter GRR) but im sure from everything that ive read researched and been told, you need the calcium for osteoporosis, our bones are a lot more brittle. Not enough Iron and you can become anemic (if you still have periods). Withought the B12 you can feel weak, fatigue or dizziness. I would get in contact with your primary physican and have him run some bloodwork on your levels (like they did before surgery) and start taking the rest of your Vitamins ASAP.
  12. i would invest in an unflavoed protein and mix a scoop of that in anything you can eat.........i think Unjury is the best unflavored.

Im glad they switched it for you becuase you know how things go at hospital, the longer the day wears on, the later your appt gets due to all kinds of crazy things beyond your control , i would be happy to first one out for the day! B12 question

Renogirl, i learned about the Vitamin reccomdations in my nutrition class, are you pre or post op? according to my nutrionist you need 1200-1500 mg of calcium DAILY. 2 chewable mutlivitamins twice daily. Starting week 4, 500 mcg a day of B12 sublingual. All these Vitamins are very important. then according to my booklet from nut starting week 8 you need 1 complete multi vitamin, 1200 mg of calcium, 500mcg of B12 sublingual and 18 mg of Iron for menstruating females.
  15. i had my tubes tied last year, 7 years after my daughter was born, if i get knocked up after my surgery someone will pay, cause i was looking forward to all the hot friskness with the hubs!!
  16. Hope everything went well this morning!!

    B12 question

i am going to do the B12 injections after my surgery, but when do i start the injections?
  18. fluffylibra30

    Samples?

the Unjury unflavored is pretty good, the dietician gave me a few samples, i put it in yogourt, smoothies, and pudding and i havent been able to taste it at all.

    Drinking Protein

be careful of those though, i had one brand of them, and they had a couple protein "fillers" and not just isolate whey protein. i tried the punch kind, put them in the freezer and eat them like a popcicle they taste a little off but not completely gross......

    On my way

They put me on vitamin D after my bloodwork also, my doc told me up to 85% of people are vitamin D deficant but just never get tested, the vitamin D you might be on awhile inless you get out more after the surgery or get enough in your daily vitamins after surgery. I only take 2 a week on Sunday and it bothers my tummy a little but not much. Sadly time goes slow.....i just got done my 6 month visits, still waiting on my date but approved by insurance. Take this time to try to get used to eating protein, taking a multi-vitamin and if you can lose some weight during your 6 month visits the doc recomends it, it shows the insurance co. you are serious about losing the weight......

    Drinking Protein

i bought Unjury unflavored, it is actually pretty good, i put it in yougart, smoothies, anything. A little pricery but worth it.

    Allergy Medicine

i take Clartin and it comes in a liquid form, i use it for my daughter because she cant swallow a pill yet. It tastes HORRIBLE though, i tried it, it tastes worse than Nyquil

I've been approved,,oh yeah oh yeah

So i called insurance co. this morning, and............was APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As of November 9. Guess with Veterans day the mail is moving slow......called Doc office and let them know, felt sorry for the poor lady after i got off the phone, i called her at 8:01 on Monday morning and was jabbering a million miles a minute............i was probably the first voice she heard this morning lol. She said doc would look over my file and call me this week with a date!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He better hurry :-)
  24. they also ask about your family if you have a support group to help you when you get home, if you will be emotionally taken care of...all kinds of good stuff. Dont sweat it too bad, the shrink who did mine said he had been doing psych eval for 10 years and only 2 had not been approved and in his words one was coocoo for coco puffs and one had a serious eating disorder........
