  1. i had made up my mind and if you didnt like it you could piss off. I told everyone. I wasnt going to hide it because i was unable to lose the weight on my own. I have hypothyroid disease and it was lose 50 pounds gain 75 (happened twice) I love my family very much but i moved away when i was 18 and it has just been me and my husband, daughter and his parents and the new friends i have made and i guess that made me a little head strong towards doing what they thought was best. Once my husband and i came to aggrance on it, there was no holding me back. I told everyone, "if you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything at all". Think they were a little scared to approach me about it ahahaa. Once everyone realized nothing was going to change my mind they jumped on board and are all very happy that i did it, still get a few stories from my MIL about her sister knew someone who knew someone. There arent enough stories out there about the ppeople who were strong determined and never looked back. Why? cause it just isnt good gossip. I have only been sleeved 5 days but i have not felt one oz of self doubt "why the hell did i do this to myself" nothing. I was prepared, and so very sure! Good luck to the people who are just starting this journey. I made my mind up on April 16, 2011. i will never forget the day i decided to take my weight into my own hands again!

Eleven Days Out - Feeling Better.

Well if you are anxious about going outsie the house for social reasons, maybe have a small get together at your house? I am going to hace a few friends over for an Oscar Party. It has my love of TV and not wanting to get out of the house lol. I cant wait to sleep through the night, maybe when i get the drain out. Well good luck on your continued success.
  6. yeah on my liquid diet i was going crazy at first. Didnt really realize just how much i though of food! I have the cleanest house now. Everytime i wanted to eat i would clean something or organize and i painted my fingers and toes, never had smoother legs, deep conditioned my hair, wrote my very best friend a letter, something i hadnt done in years. I took down my christmas decorations. Now im 2 days post op and doing pretty good. Still thinking about bread though

    Warm Water?

liquids should get no hotter than 130. makes the protein lump and i think someone said breaks down the protein?
  8. Came home from the hospital today, doing fairly well. I was up walking every hour at the hospital, my surgeon came and said the hospital is for sick people, get the heck out of here. The drain is the only thing that really hurts. Worried about the Water. what was the average when everyone came home from hospital? i have only drank maybe a half bottle of water today, i am using the little measuring cup and sipping out of that. I ate my Jello ok, and drank some of the Protein shake the doc brought me before i left, going to drink more of it later, it was vanilla and actually good to me. hope all my other dec 28th sleevers are doing well!

    Incision Site Pain

i just got out of hospital today, the pain at my drain thing is pretty bad. My doc told me it would hurt up to a few weeks out, but gradually hurt less every day.
  10. you can do yougurt made with Splenda or Nutra sweet (i think dannon lift and fit qualifies) you can have any cream soup as long as its strained. I bought cambells fat free of chicken, cream of potato cream of celery. thats all i can think of thats not sweeter. you can have carnation no sugar added instant Breakfast, no added sugar hot cocoa. my surgery is today and since i have been on Clear liquids for 3 days that sounds delicious lol.
  11. LOL make it a three-fer, my suregery is today at 2. The time is driving me crazy and i am starving. Nothing to eat/drink after midnight is crazy when you have to wait till 2!!!!! Good luck ladies!

    December sleevers!

Im not feeling nervous a bit. My surgery is Wednesday. Dunno if i will feel like that the day of, but then they can just give me some nerve meds lol. I am just excited to get on with my life. Excited about soo many things. I started my clear liquids, i got lucky and didnt need a preop diet. I am trying to drink only Water intill i am starving. when they did my gallbladder xray the tech told me my liver was a little fatty, so that is the only thing making me nervous. Well good luck to everyone and i will see you on the losers bench.
  13. Dont worry! From what i have read, you have hit the "3 week stall" it seems to happen to a lot of people!

    When To Begin Exercise?

I asked that question to my PA on Wednesday during my final pre-op visit. She told me "on average" 2 weeks before you can hit a Zumba/cardio class and 4 weeks before you can hit the weights. I guess thats if everything is healing well.

    December sleevers!

So i have done all my preop stuff. Registered at hospital, did my final preop class where we just went over what will happen at the hospital and what all will be done to me. Not excited about the 2:00 surgery time considering i cant eat or drink after midnight. Not worried so much about food as being dry. There are 4 of us that day. 2 sleeves 2 bands. I must be last on the list. The other sleeve in my class was scared to death! I gave her this website, i hope she joins this or some group because she didnt have much support at home. Pretty excited!! Glad Christmas is coming to keep me occupied or i would be bouncing off the walls. Happy Holidays to all the December Sleevers! oh my gallbladder is full of gall stones and i had no idea!! He is going to remove it if the rest of my surgery goes smooth.

    Protein Powder

I bought Unjury unflavored, i have mixed it with everything and so far its been easy to mix, doesnt add a bad taste and smoothes really well. Dunno after surgery. I also bought Isopure. It tastes ok.
  18. I am pre op but my diet workbook says 3-4 oz, 6 times a day, so that seems to be right. Also water goal is 64 oz, and protein is 60 grams. Are you getting enough protein? my booklet says 2 flinstone twice daily. it seems every doc is different on viatmins, but if you are feeling week and getting all your protein maybe up your vitamins? Maybe the more experienced sleevers can give you more input.
  19. I dont know the anwser cause i am still pre op. but WOW congrats ont he weight loss. I will be happy to lose half that the first month! i would say as long as you are staying hydrated dont stress it to much.
  20. Well congrats on the approval!! I have all kinds of CRAZY dreams about the surgery! atleast a couple a week. my favorite was i had the surgery and when i woke up i was even bigger than when i started. The doc said he changed his mind and added more stomach instead of less..........Now i am so excited/nervous im lucky to sleep at all. My date is dec 28.
  21. my insurance covered everything besides a 20$ copay for visits and my 6 months of doc visits that i had to have before surgery. I wouldnt mind to pay extra for the weekly support visits and the access to the trainer and dietician, that would be pretty awesome!

She will be mad cause i will have to wait a few weeks (surgery is the 28th) but im looking forward to it!

    Christmas Baking + Nsv

I love holiday baking!! I am pre sleeve but i am so proud of myself because for every dozen i bake 9 cookies got into other peoples goody bags . Now my husband is a little aggervated about this process so i have been giving him my cookies, (no way will my daughter give up hers she is too happy there are sweets in the house lol) but i told him it was either that or i had to quit baking which i didnt really want to do. So we compromised and i made his parents a bigger goody bag so he could nibble on their cookies when we visited. Poor man he must really love me cause hes not a bit chunky and has been giving up "all the good stuff" as he calls it. haha noone tell him i switched a ton of ingredients to healthier ones or he will never forgive me!
  24. WOW! Does anyone NOT feel nervous? I am actually not worried or stressed. It took a long time for me to make this decision and when i finally did it i felt like a boulder had been lifted off me. The doc is AWESOME, the hospital is amazing and the staff is wonderful. Is anyone else feeling like this? I am having to comfort my husband becuase he is nervous (just about the procedure itself) I am excited and confident and actually PREPARED! I know for a few days after it will hurt like haitis but im looking forward to after. Besides my hypothyroidism that we cant seem to get medicated properly for i am pretty healthy. No diabetes, high blood pressure nothing. So i am hoping that that will be in my favor on the operating table!
  25. Well CONGRATS on getting SOBER!!! That in itself is an AMAZING accomplishment!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you can do that then this will be a breeze! Both my parents are in recovery and ive watched them struggle for years so i know it is hard work!!! Good luck on your surgery!!!
