About Me
Hello everyone! My name is Holly and I am 33 years old. I have a wonderful eleven year old son named Donovan and a spoiled 5 year old Shi-tsu named Buster. I am a very busy person. I teach Preschool during the day and go to grad school at night. My son loves to play football, basketball, and baseball. So, needless to say, there is never a dull moment
I have been overweight most of my adult life. I am 5 ft 11 inches tall and weigh 350 lbs. Some people say "Oh your just big boned." Really people, you don't have to say that--I am built from a bigger frame than most--but thats not where the weight is coming from. I know I have read some of your stories on here--and I can totally relate. I, too, have always been told "Oh, you have such a pretty face." Or, "You would be so hot if you would just lose weight." Some people just don't understand that those comments feel like a knife entering the chest. Ok, so, if I just have a pretty face, that means that the rest of me is pretty messed up, right? Anyway, I have been considering bariatric surgery for a long time. I have been a yo-yo dieter for years. I would lose, gain, lose, gain. I want to be healthier and happier and am ready to have surgery
I will have my surgery at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. I attended a seminar there led by Dr. Olson. He was very knowledgable and the meeting was very informative. I have attended a support group, passed a psych evaluation, sent medical records, and obtained the physician letter of support. The only thing now that I am waiting on is the 6 months of medically supervised weight loss diet documentation to go by. I started going to the doctor in January, so, in June I should be finished with that. I was hoping to have the surgery in June so I would have the summer to heal and adjust to the new way of life before returning to work at the end of July. I go for my next Dr appt on March 14th. I will keep you informed on my progress.
July 2011
Well guys, I had my surgery on June 29th at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville with Dr. Hugh Houston. Everyone there was so great to me. I am a little over two weeks post-op now and am doing pretty good. I am tired and lack energy but they say that is to be expected. I had a doozy of a weight loss the first week loosing 21 lbs! The second week I lost 1 lb which was kind of a let down because of the big loss the first week. My body is adjusting and I am still happy with the 22lbs lost in two weeks. I have had a hard time getting all my water and protein in--which I promise to make a better effort at doing so. I will try to keep you updated : )

I am now 7 weeks post-op and have lost 40 lbs. I am starting to gain energy slowly.
