  1. I took my iron pill FRI night and didn't drink much water with it obviously. I started feeling sick about 5 min later. I threw up not by choice and felt better.... Next day Sat I felt extremely tight. Barely got any food down all day even after drinking warm liquids. It helped but heaviness was still in the bottom of my throat. I had to resort to protein shakes which I think eventually came up later that night. I could taste the iron pill in mu vomit. Today, sun still same feeling. Didn't sleep well due to that pressure feeling. Ate a spoon full of peanut butter. How can I get unstuck???!!! What can help? Why hasn't it dissolved yet?? HELP!!
  2. I had a pill get stuck and now it's unstuck but I am still having a time getting fluids down. It seems like they are going down but then just sit there:( Should I try warm water or ice water?? I'm thinking maybe I'm just a lil irritated and is the reason why nothing is working. Please help!
  3. Thanks. Warm water goes down and then sits there. I'm trying tiny sips of a protein shake now.
  4. My dr said if I could eat normal amounts that it was fine. I have been able to eat normal until now. It started Fri with that pill. I don't know if now it's just extremely irritated and is the reason why not even fluids can stay down comfortably. I have been trying warm water, maybe I will try ice water now. So far whatever I drink seems to go down but then just sit there.
  5. Thanks so much for advice. I have had no real sleep but actually feel better. I don't feel that heavy feeling as much. I have been coughing and then a lot of liquid coming up at the same time. It tastes exactly like that pill I took. Maybe it's trying to calm down now. Hopefully I can keep done warm liquid in me and protein shakes for the day. Once again thanks! First time mommy and I want to make sure my baby is getting all the nutrients he needs. I never had this problem before.

    Hard Time Eating

I recently had a fill about 1 1/2 wks ago. This is the most restriction I have ever had. Been banded for 6 1/2 months and this is fill #2. I'm not losing drastic amounts of weight at all. I don't eat much at all especially since this last fill. I eat a few bites and feel like its not going down very well. Such an uncomfortable feeling so I just stop eating. I notice this mostly with my first meal of the day. How can I get all my protein in, get over my plateau, and eat more comfortably in the mornings? Supposedly I need 90 grams of protein a day!! That sure seems like alot....
  7. I got banded at the end of last Aug. since then I have only lost about 25 pounds. I don't understand this! It is very discouraging. Every time I go in for a fill, I have only lost a couple pounds. Nothing drastic. EVER! I have had 4 pretty good size fills so far. I have a 10cc band and already have 7cc's!!!!!!! I feel the restriction and I do eat less. Why am I not losing this weight?! What's gonna happen once my band is filled to the capacity? I will admit that I have lost alot of inches BUT where's my weight loss?! Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
  8. Kboo I am eating 3 small meals a day minus the snack most days. Some days I do have a snack such as 100 cal snack or yogurt. I really have not had the feeling of being full at all. I stop eating when I feel satisfied. My dr said I am learning very quickly and it takes most longer. I guess I'm happy about that! As I said, I am able to eat everything so far and I thunk it's because I chew chew chew!! I do not want to get stuck! I'm sure it's a learning process that I will get down and I know we all have our own journeys with the band. Thanks for your info
  9. I'm going to be getting my first fill soon and I'm a little afraid. I was telling the PA that I have not had any problems with food going down and have been able to eat bread and rice. She told me after the fill that that won't even be a possibility! Why? If you chew well what's the big deal??! Also I told her my appetite is substantially lower than before surg and I am losing small amounts of weight now. So if my meals are already tiny NOW pre fill, what in the world ate they going to be like post fill?? I would like to eat more than a piece of cheese! Lol. why after a small first fill will things drastically be changed and have to be taken out of my diet? Isn't everyone different in what they can and can't eat?! Any help, opinion, advice please
  10. Niterun thanks for that info. Guess it's just going to take time and patience to know and understand everything. I'm sure I'll learn very quickly about what to eat or not to eat when I have that first bad episode. Hopefully I can continue on to eat what I want just in moderation of course. I don't like the fact that many say there are some "no no" foods cause it just makes you want it more. Lol
  11. @ sandra s & autumn81 it's not that I can only tolerate small amounts of foods, I just do it. I stop eating before being completely full I think. I just don't want to mess anything up so I stop when I don't have the sensation to continue to eat. I feel satisfied I think before I actually feel full. I'm not even sure if I have been full so far! Still learning my body signals. How does full feel? How do you know if you have eaten too much? That's what I don't want to do.@ screeden it's good to know u can tolerate those things.I am not a big bread eater but I do like the occasional sandwich/burger. I have actually eaten a chicken sandwich but did not finish the whole thing.
  12. Just wondering who all has been banded by Dr. Stowers. He banded me on 9/19! I think he was/is great! Just curious of his other patients and maybe their success thus far.
  13. I'm newly banded, only few weeks out now. Wondering when the weight will start to come off. I definitely notice that i am eating less, mainly because I'm not eating everything yet AND I don't want to mess anything up. Will it take me getting a fill FIRST??? I have lost a little but notice that as I start to incorporate the solids, I am getting a fee of those pounds back. When will I see a big difference?? I know it is different for everyone though. Just anxious I guess....

    Are u ever not hungry

Cakegirl, that's exactly what's goin on with me!
  15. I noticed this morning that I had no desire to eat my breakfast. I just was not hungry and didn't want to eat. I managed to eat a little bit though. So later lunch rolls around and I still really didn't have desire to eat. Made myself eat something. Does this ever happen to anyone else? I've been in the same tune since this morning, not hungry. I haven't had my first fill yet and don't believe I have much if any restriction. Only two weeks post. Any feedback is appreciated!
  16. How long do you wait to drink before or after you eat? Trying to see what everybody is doing! New to this and trying to get it all down! Thanks

How long should I wait till I drink

Acadia, great idea about the ice!! Thanks, I will try that:)
  18. Newly banded. 2 weeks out and trying to get all the "to do's" and " no no's" down. Is it terribly bad to take a few sips of something while eating? I know my Dr told me it helps push your solids down and you will get hungry faster. But will a sip here and there mess things up?? Also, how long before and after eating do you drink??

    Newbie and scared

Being scared is natural. This is absolutely going to be a major decision that effects your life! I was just banded on aug 19,2011 and am very happy about my decision!! Yes of course it would be nice if you could have the support of your family, but if you know that they are going discourage you from doing something so positive for your life then just take this journey on your own! There's a lot of support on here and you can get support from your dr and their office. If it will increase your quality of life then nothing else matters! Good luck on your journey!!
  21. 6 days post op. I'm getting this weird feeling. Seems like it goes from my throat to deep In my stomach. Kind of feels like alot of air. I'm not exactly sure what this strange feeling is. Maybe it could be cause I still having a little trouble burping really good. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Congrats on your weight loss!!! I only lost ten pounds on the pre op diet and gained a few back since I have been eating solids:( I hate that soooo much but that seems to happen to many. I can't wait for that first fill cause right now I'm doing it by myself. And I understand what you're talking about regarding right after surgery. My tummy was super firm and swollen. Sooo glad that it has gone down. Will def kit!! Can't wait for us to both get to our healthier gosls

Heaviness feeling in throat to stomach

Piig, I can burp somewhat normal. Not 100% though. It is getting alot better and easier. Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't. The pressure is nit really there though. I'm doing great on soft foods. Dr said I can move to reg foods next week. I have never had any nausea and am able to keep everything down. Hopefully I can say the same once I get my first fill. Good luck on your journey as well. Have u lost any weight so far?
