December 2015 sleevers progress check
Trooper Wifey replied to Joymarie333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 12/28 and Hw was 274, surgery day weigh 268, CW 248.5. I also feel like it's been a slow loss for me. No one has really noticed the weight loss yet, but info feel clothes feeling a little less snug. I thought it would be a bit faster, but as long as I keep loosing I am okay with that. I am hoping that a slow weight loss will possibly lead to no hair loss. Fingers crossed!!!!! -
Your primary care provider should be managing your high blood pressure, diabetes, etc .... Not the surgeon. Maybe make an appointment with who prescribes those medications for better monitoring and management. I do agree the surgeon should probably see you before clearing you for work though.

My surgery was 12/28. I'm down 15lb since surgery. I thought it would be more by now, but I'm feeling great. I would like to start exercising soon. I have my surgeon follow up tomorrow, we'll see what they say. I progressed to mushy foods the other day. So far so good.

Does this sound like a stall?
Trooper Wifey replied to Trooper Wifey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Monday weigh-in was the same. Hopeful for the next week, I'm really going to try. I'm also going to increase my water intake, and I realized today I was having some difficulty going to the bathroom ( like someone else suggested b/c of the increased protein). So maybe some colace is in my future haha! Thanks for the suggestions and encouragement! -
Does this sound like a stall?

I was sleeved 12/28. HW 273, surgery day 268. Since coming home, had been dropping a pound here and there till 255. I've been at 255 for several days now, and I've been back to work the past two days, which is pretty active. I'm still on full liquids, which has been going good and getting in Protein. I know at least the last two days my intake calories were definitely less than my calories burned from work activities. I thought it seemed pretty early to be a stall, tomorrow is two weeks since the procedure. -

If you have a leak, would you have pain right away ? Just curious. Everything has been going well for me. I am on day 10 post op. I went to get up from the couch, and must have done so too swiftly, and felt a sharp pain, almost tearing sensation right near the top incision. It hurt sharp for a few minutes. The incision areas are still pretty sore anyways. But I'm nervous about that sharp pain and it's right where the esophagus meets the stomach, where most tears are. I drank some Water and everything feels fine still. No nausea, no pain, vomiting, etc. I'm going to call the doctor in the AM just to make sure, but I'm hoping that it was not the suture line popping. ????

Unjury unflavored protein powder
Trooper Wifey posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure if I'm doing it incorrectly, or its just not a great powder. I've been trying to add it to things to add more Protein. I've added it to Soup and it just chunks in the soup. I've whisked it, stirred it and it was like eating soup with chunks. I used it in hot chocolate too, and the same thing happens. Am I doing something wrong? -
Leak question.
Trooper Wifey replied to Trooper Wifey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just updating. No fever or shortness of breath or fatigue. I do have some pain in that area when I eat or drink, very minimal, that was not there previously. I'm still hoping it its just stitches or scar tissue. -
Leak question.
Trooper Wifey replied to Trooper Wifey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks. It's feeling better still sore though. I'll see how today goes and try to be more careful. I'll update my profile, I joined when I was interested in the lap band a few years ago, but eventually went with gastric sleeve. -
I found a good protein!

Where can you get the syntax? I saw it on Amazon, but wondering where else it can be bought? -

I like the EAS from Walmart. It's not too sweet, 100 calories and has 17g Protein. I just tried Muscle Milk today in chocolate. 20g protein, 180 calories. It was very sweet. -
Hi. I am day 7 post op. Feeling better each day. Still a little sore around the incision sites, but I'm off all the pain medicine as of a few days ago. I'm trying to increase my fluids and Protein each day. Yesterday my intake looked like this: 11oz Protein shake (17g protein) 4oz Jello cup 10oz tomato Soup (15g protein) 10oz milk (w/hot chocolate and protein scoop) 10g protein 10oz Water (flavored w/protein) 15g I pretty much struggled to get that all in. I know I need to up my Fluid intake, so today I'm filling the water up to 20oz and will sip on that all day, in addition to the above. Does this look pretty similar to everyone on the full liquid? I did try some butternut squash soup yesterday, like two bites and I was getting pains and almost nausea. I'm not sure if it was too thick or what, since it was liquid, but maybe I'll try again in a few days.

Hi. I was sleeved on Monday the 28th. Just came home today and have been working on getting my fluids in. They discharged my IV fluids early this morning. So far today ( and the day is just about over) I've had about 20oz of fluids (between broth, Jello and crystal light). I just started clears yesterday and will have another day of them before full liquids. I struggled to get that 20oz in. Hoping that it'll get easier as the days pass. Every time I drink, I feel lots of pressure until a small little burp comes up, then I known can drink again. Do you all have to burp before continuing drinking? Thanks

New poster here, but have been reading for months. I was sleeved this afternoon,12/28. Still inpatient at the hospital, obviously. I've been tolerating ice chips well. I went for my first walk a few hours after the procedure and all was well. I've been sore, but nothing terrible and taking the pain medication through IV. Getting back into bed from my walk, my RN was assessing my incision sites and I felt sort of like a sharp sudden pain. Now for the last few hours, I've been dealing with tachycardia (my hr went to 170!), palpitations and pain on deep breathing. I've had an ekg and stat X-ray , so I know I'm in the right place for medical answers. My question for all of you, is, did this resemble any of your gas pains? Thanks so much for any input.

Is this gas pain?
Trooper Wifey replied to Trooper Wifey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Much better. My labs, X-rays and ekg showed fine, other than being very tachycardic. The tachycardia went away after about 2 hours. It was really scary. I was put on additional pain medication and that seemed to help. And lots of walking around. I've had a reaction in the past to stimulant medications and the physician seems to think it might have been that, since that is what they use to wake you up from anesthesia. I had the swallow study this morning and it showed a large GS bubble right under neath my sleeve, so probably a conjunction of things!! It was a long night, for sure. -
last minute change of heart?
Trooper Wifey replied to k9momma56's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, this post has really hit home for me. I have been researching this procedure since about February 2011 and recently went through the steps in getting it done. (classes, clearances, approval etc) I have breezed through everything and I am now at the very end, with my procedure date on August 29th, 2011 (Monday!) And I am really freaking out. At one point last week, I actually cancelled my pre-op appointment and just today re-scheduled it. I am too an RN, and I swear we are the worst patients. I have been trying to convince myself that I can do this on my own, but in reality--I know I need this help, which are hard words for me to swallow. I am worried most about complications and I can't help but think, am I going to be 80/90 years old with this band, will something happen to me, and for the RNs out there-- what if down the road I am uncoinscious and they try to put an OG tube in me, will I be damaged!!? I hope that I am just over-analyzing things and being my own worst enemy on this.
