Help! Weird Lap Band Fill Experience -- Normal?

I too lay down to have my fills and then my doctor has me sit up with the needle still in. The reason is that once it's inserted and I sit up he then has me sit up and drink a 6 ounce glass of water. He leaves the needle in so that if he filled me too tight or not enough, he can then just take out or place more.

    Newbie: Banded Sept. 6th...

10 lbs in a month is great, plus you haven't had any fiil. You're worrying like most of us have. I had my surgery on September 1st and just had my first fill October 3rd. My goal is to loose 10 lbs a months and when I went to the doctors, I had reached my goal. Although I was so disappointed in myself because the week before my first fill, oh my, not only was I recovered from having surgery (which makes you hungry) I also had that PMS hunger . It wasn't good, I won't lie. The night before my appointment I even had nightmares my doctor was yelling at me. Well to my suprises, my doctor was so kind, he looked at me and said why are you beating yourself and much have you gained? He opened my chart and said you lost 10 lbs since surgery and you had no fill , your doing great. I have the best doctor, I won't lie, he's very motivating. We sometimes need to remember, we didn't put this weight on overnight and we surely aren't going to take it off overnight. I even wish that I everyday, but for me I know its more realistic for me to set smaller goals. 10lbs a month, I think I can do it, and I have to have faith in myself that I will do it. I still have 90 lbs to go and hopefully by next summer, I will be able to put a swim suite on for the first time and not feel like a beached whale. I see people some people loose quickly on this site and everyone is different. I even read alot of people having issues with the band on here and I try not to focus on negatives. It will happen, have faith and good luck in your journey.

HOW LONG SHOULD I WAIT BEFORE-BACK TO WORK?

Truth be knows, everyones body is different when it comes to the recovery time. I had the lapband installed with also a hiatal hernia repair. Usually I recover quickly from surgeries, but I wasn't feeling right until day 6. I did mine on a holiday weekend and hoarded my vacation this year and had 12 days off which included weekend. From what I've read on here, I"ve seen people go back to work in 3 days. As far as sitting or standing, really I felt better when I was standing then sitting but again everyone is different. As for lifting, my doctor did not want me lifting over 5 lbs. So just ask him for a light duty slip. Plus if the guys a work can't do some lifting for you for a few weeks, I'd have to say thats pretty ignorant. I work with all men myself and they were extremely helpful if I needed something done. Good luck to you both in your journey.

    Dissappointed with Myself

Ok peeps, I quess I must be going through this bandster hell, I've been starving and I even stooped to eatiing some things I have no business. I'm 4 weeks out and my first fill is scheduled for next Monday. Am I the only person that has broke down during this period and ate something that I had no business. I'm not looking for approval, because I am beating myself terrible over this. Sad thing is I am up 18 hours a day, I do well at work, but it's when I get home. I have no support group and I am starting to get depressed. Any help or comments would be appreciated.

    sizes

Yeah, I'm right there with. I can loose around 30+ lbs myself and still be the same size, but of course they are looser. I'm currently an 18 at 236 lbs and won't see that 16 until around 210. Kind of stinks, but trying not to be discouraged, only because it's been like that my entire life.

    lapband vs gastric bypass

My sister had the bypass and had several issues, I opted for lapband. If complications arise, at least it's reversable.

Dr. Terry Simpson - program fee

My doctor had us pay $500.00, but this included a nutritionist for 2 years post surgery anytime we need to see her.

    September '11 new bandsters

Hi I was banded yesterday myself. I'm feeling just like you, don't want to do anything but lay around and sleep myself. Don't know if stomach is gas pains or just plain ole pain from having my surgery. My doctor told me I would feel like this for a few days and told me to get some rest. I try to walk a little around the house. I'm sure things will get better for us. My stomach feels like it weighs a ton right now.

    Supervised diet for insurance

Yes I agree, do exactly what the doctor says. My insurance made me do supervised weightloss for 6 months. I feel very fortunate, he had a nutritionist right in his office. Don't worry too much, your date might seem far away, but it's right around the corner. Best of luck!
