My Sleeve Is Confusing Me
hellonurse replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm one week post op, Im taking pepcid twice a day. But yet I can feel and hear my stomach growling. It is for sure hunger. I am hungry!! I have the same problem, I try to eat soup,or yogurt and I can only eat 3oz, then Im stuffed. I just keep eating my teeny portions of boring stuff, whenever I feel the growl. I can't have mushies until next Tuesday! Maybe I need to switch my tummy meds!! I see Doctor tomorrow, I'm gonna mention it. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Woohoo! Congrats!! I had my first NSV at only 1 week post op. Well I am down 30 lbs from my highest weight. I was getting my daughter her tuna sub( subway) yes, the smells were really getting to my little teeny tummy But anywhoo, I gave them my debit card and drivers license, they girl at the register looked at it and called her co worker over, they looked at it and looked at me, the guy said" uh no" and the girl laughed and said " that's you? Are you sure? My hair was up and I had 3 chins and chipmunk cheeks. I only have one chin now and normal cheeks and my hair is down to my waist!! I thanked them for making my day!! Im Such And Idiot!
hellonurse replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh man!! Me too Not only that, Mine was with a bit of orange juice! Yipes. I only drank a few sips any ways! It was Jamba juice, just having those few little sips made me feel normal again. It didn't bother me at all. But I sure won't do it again, until my Doctor clears me for straws and citrus. It was mainly carrot juice. Ha, but man was it good Im like you, today I'm one week post op!! I Guess Im Hidding Out!

I hear you you on Cigna I have Cigna too!! It took forever, but it is true, so true, what a beautiful thing to get that approval. I know that I'm luckier than some, as some folks have had to self pay. I only had my $500 co pay, and I get reimbursed even that fee, I have the flexible spending account thru my employer! Plus all my Protein supplements, Vitamins, gas and acid reducer meds, co pays. I also have 2 AFLAC policies I'm putting in for tomorrow at my one week post op visit. I'm a single Mom, this is the only way I could afford to do this and be out of work for 3 weeks!! This is my so called vacation This is what my boss called it! I have been up front with what I was up to, I have told my co workers that I know have my back,I know that others will talk... but I don't care what they say. I'm gonna look better than them, that would be the only reason they would wanna start talking about me!! If anyone wants to say"oh you did it the easy way" I will let them know, there is nothing easy about starving yourself for two weeks before, having surgery and then starving yourself again until you can begin eating the right way and working out. It's actually the hard way, if your on a regular diet, if you feel the need to "cheat" it won't hurt anything but your pride. When you do it like us, there is no cheating, you might make your self very very sick!! So, people that do not have a weight issue, thank your lucky stars, for those of us who fight the fight every day, good on us for recognizing our problem and finding a permanent solution to help us in our new lifestyle! Hooray for all of us Sleevers!! Sent from my iPhone using VST -
I have the Ninja 1100. This is the one from the infomercial on TV, I think it costs over $170 if you buy it like that, plus shipping and handling! But it is at costco for $118. This does everything! It juices, food processes, makes frozen drinks, smoothies, makes dough, chops and dices, makes ice cream. Its pretty awesome. My Dad bought it for me the weekend before my surgery( a get well/healthy present) I can whip up my shakes and make my mushies now. Plus I want to start jucing!! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Yaaay for you! I had similar feelings, I have done all the fad diets and lost weight, only to regain it and this last time add on 30 more pounds(sigh, nice) it is a tough choice to make. I had my sister( also a nurse) really drill me. My Mom told her, I wasn't even gonna tell her, she's in a different state! But I did it for me, no one can tell me otherwise. It took me 10 months to get here, I was sleeved last Tuesday the 24 th!! Congrats to you and welcome to VST!! Sent from my iPhone using VST -

Jamba Juice Veggie/ Fruit Smoothie
hellonurse posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my, what a savior of boredom!! I'm having the Orange Carrot Karma smoothie. It is sooo good, I thought I was gonna go nuts being in Subway with my daughter( getting her a sub) went next door to Jamba juice and saw the new veggie/fruit smoothies. Granted I can only drink 1/4 of the 16oz, it feels good going down and tastes so yummy! I logged it into my food diary( myfitnesspal) only 45 calories for my small portion!! Woohoo. They have 3 different flavors! For those in my situation( one week post op) and bored out of your mind with the same old same old, get you some Jamba Juice!! You deserve it Sent from my iPhone using VST -

Working While On The Liquid Diet Before Surgery
hellonurse replied to nancylovescats's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first 3 days was rough, but after awhile, it is ok. I'm a very busy nurse, and there were atleast 5 days I only had a chance to drink one RTD EAS shake my whole shift. It did help me to lose 16 pre op, but it worries me when I go back to work. How am I going to find time to eat my little "birdy portions" all day and sip, sip? Well, I am only 6 days post op still, so I guess I figure that out when I go back in 2 weeks. I'm gonna beg my Doctor to give me 2 extra days, so I can go back on a Thursday, only leaving me working 2 days that week!! I have to ease my way back in there!! Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Time Of The Month During Your Surgery?
hellonurse replied to urbandecayno5's topic in The Gals' Room
I was kinda lucky. My period came early, on the Thursday before my Tuesday surgery, but since tuesday was my last day, it lingered a teeny bit. It's actually the Lovenox that made it kinda linger. The blood thinner injections they gave me! I had one every 8 hours in the hospital. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Me too!! So bored with broth, Jello, yogurt. I was also sleeved on the 24th! I just cheated and Im having some low fat cottage cheese, I can't wait until Tuesday!! So far it feels pretty good, I made sure to chew it first!! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Oooh, I just got the Ninja last week!!! I'm barely 5 days post op, but I can't wait to use it to make my mushies and start back on my Protein shakes on Tuesday!!! I need that protein ice cream recipe! Sounds great. I also want to start juicing! I can't drive yet , so as soon as I can drive Tuesday, I'm gonna get everything I need to start making some good stuff!!! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Post Op Day 4- Hungry And Depressed
hellonurse replied to MamaT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm also sleeved on 4/24. I'm hungry too. It was a little better when I was on my pre op diet, because Doctor let me have my little spinach salad at night. I really looked forward to that saladbut with just broth, Jello, cream Soup and yogurt, it's boring!! I can't wait to eat soft mushies atleast. I know Im not getting enough Protein in, I track my intake on: myfitnesspal, and I taking in only about 250-275 calories a day. I get so full right away, but the waiting to drink and then eating again, it's a full time thing!! For the pre op sleevers: it is a rough go for the first 3 days, especially if you are detoxing from caffiene and carbs, like I was. I had a migraine that kept me out of comission for 24 hours. Not being able to take my Advil Migraine, was torture! We can take Tylenol! But I have to take more just to feel decent! All Doctor's protocol are different, some folks have no restrictions on caffiene. Lucky!!! Good Luck to you! Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Anyone Have This Sensation Post Op?
hellonurse replied to kellyring's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same problem Im 5 days post op. They gave ne little plastic med cups, and told me to fill it up and sip it. It holds 30cc( 2 tbls). It has been easier that way. Plus gas pills are a big help!! Sent from my iPhone using VST -
What Size French Bougie?
hellonurse replied to leesakake's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm 3 days post op, my Doctor uses a 32f bougie. I had trouble with ice chips and propel, but I think it was due to swelling. Today I was able to drink the propel and have my broth and Jello, with no vomiting!! Sent from my iPhone using VST -
How Much Weight Did You Lose On Preop Diet?
hellonurse replied to mrsnate's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I was sleeved on Tuesday the 24th. I started my pre op diet on the 9th. I had 3 EAS carb control shakes a day, and one awesome spinach and grilled chicken salad at night. I lost 16 pounds, and my Doctor said my liver was beautiful, he said good job!! Leaving the hospital today, my girls and the nurses told me, you barely have any weight to lose! LOL!! I still have 60 pounds to get to my personal goal!!! Good Luck to you pre op sleevers, I will save a spot for you on the Loser's Bench!!! Sent from my iPhone using VST -
3 Days Sleeved
hellonurse replied to lovemeforeverapril's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there!! I was sleeved on Tuesday the 24th, I just got home from the hospital this morning! How are you feeling? I'm just glad to be home! I received excellent care, but I would rather be home resting! I also wanted to have my broth and Jello, LOL. I had only ice chips Tuesday and then ice chips and lemon propel all day yesterday, yuck. My pain is not bad, but the gas is not so fun. I'd also like a sleeve buddy, so if you would like, add me as a friend!! Jessica Sent from my iPhone using VST -
I hope you feel better! I had my sleeve on Tuesday, felt lousy until this morning, they let me go home as soon as I looked and felt decent. My source of pain is the gas, yipes and when I hiccup, that's really painful!! Other than that Im feeling good. broth was soooo good! Jello was nice too! Hang in there, I hear it gets better every day Sent from my iPhone using VST
