Success But Whose Really?
hellonurse replied to june13sleever's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
As a person who loves, and I do mean loves food, I will argue with anyone who tells me I did it the easy way. It is not easy to give up your life long friend( food).it is the hardest addiction there is. We need food to survive. We don't need alcohol, drugs, sex and smoking to survive. We all are choosing a tool to help us be healthy and fit. The first few weeks is not pretty on the journey to WLS. Starving yourself is not fun.Im talking pre op diet and post op diet, it's so boring. Now at 4 weeks post op, and 35lbs lighter, it does get better. I'm trying to make many changes in my life. I have now replaced my obsession and love for my food to exercise! For me, the weight does not just fall off, I'm a lower BMI girl, been harder to lose. But so worth it! Everyone, be proud of your choice, for some it's easier than for others. I am truly going to appreciate this permanent weight loss!! Good luck to us all Sent from my iPhone using VST -

Some People Just Don't Get It
hellonurse replied to StrangelyNormal's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
@2bsmallagain I could have wrote that same post My whole family are obese, with the exception of the children( except my two year old niece, she's already obese, very sad) My two children both girls 25& almost 17, are in good shape. Now that I am only about 30 pounds away from my oldest, she doesn't like itwell they do but they dont. Both keep saying, uh no you can't be smaller than us. So now they work out with me. The youngest is always telling me to have just a little bite, she feels bad eating in front of me. Today she had my type of Snacks while we were at the laundromat, she liked it!! cheese sticks and watermelon chunks!! Sent from my iPhone using VST -
It took me along time to get with it after surgery. I was told by my family, I was in recovery for 6 hours. But everyone is different. Some people are more sensitive to medication than others. But they usually only have you under for about 45-60 minutes for surgery. Maybe even an hour and a half. Sent from my iPhone using VST

Not Enough Weight Loss! Scary
hellonurse replied to simplyQuel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like that dreaded 3 week stall, maybe? I hit that at two weeks post op Now im back on track, Im like you, I only have 60 pounds to lose. I'm trying so hard, I finally started back up with losing. Lost 5 pounds in week 3!! Hang in there, it is harder for us, due to the lower starting weight and smaller amount to lose, but we can do it!!! I started cardio aerobics, it helps Sent from my iPhone using VST -
I'm was a 38 DD before surgery, currently a 34DD. I'm one of those that no matter what I weigh, they stay. I wouldn't mind if they went down to a regular D, but I guess Im in the minority on that! LOL!! Sent from my iPhone using VST

hellonurse replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a really bad stall already at week 2!! I could not get out of Twoterville for anything, I thought I was gonna go nuts But then it hit week 3, and then 4 pounds came off, letting me into Onderland!! So happy, lost major inches during the stall though!! So I wasn't too bummed, just anxious to see 100's on the scale, and bye bye 200's Sent from my iPhone using VST -

hellonurse replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Me too. I stayed at the same weight for a week. 202, 202,202........ It was driving me nuts I was sleeved on April 24th and hit my stall at 2 weeks post op. Finally, finally I hit 199 today!!! But one thing to take into consideration, you lose major inches too!! I dropped many pant sizes, in just the 3 weeks Ive been sleeved. I have also been going hard core exercise since last week, to make sure I don't lose muscle tone!!! Good luck to all us April Sleevers!! Sent from my iPhone using VST -
2 Days Post Op And Nausea
hellonurse replied to raven8888's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also major nauseous the 2nd day. They were trying to get me to drink Lots of Propel. It made me so sick It got me another day in the hospital. They have you on Protein already? Maybe that's what is making you sick? They gave me Zofran, pepcid, gas pills every few hours. Plus I felt so fevery. By the time I woke up on the third day, I felt tons better, and was begging to go home. Being home was so soothing and comforting. It does get better, I'm exactly 3 weeks post op today!! I'm saying a prayer for your rapid healing . Take Care, and keep us posted. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Finally Made It To Onderland!
hellonurse replied to hellonurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much I was sleeved on April 24,2012 Before pre op diet I was 232. After pre op diet 221 Today is my three week sleeve day anniversary! I hit that stall earlier than the third week, for me it was the second week stall, BUT.... I dropped insane amounts of inches, I went from a size 16 to a size 12. Today was my first day back at work, and everyone was so shocked I think what helped me over my stall was picking up my Protein intake and my Water intake. I struggle with the protein intake. I try to keep it at 60grams. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
I too had trouble with eggs last week, made me so very sick. But I tried them scrambled with a little bit of cheese this morning, and I was able to kerp it down with no problem!! It was only about 2 spoonfuls, but it went well with my 2 strips of turkey bacon!! What a great Mother'sDay breakfast Sent from my iPhone using VST

New Powder Drink Mix For Multivitamin & Calcium Citrate
hellonurse replied to MyGastricSleeveLife's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I bought a similiar multivitamin powder from Bariatric Advantage. I'm 2 weeks post op and I can't hack it. It is super sweet, yet tart. It's like strong pixi stix. I can't manage more than 4oz of liquid at a time, and it really needs to be diluted in more liquid than that. I thought it was a great idea for me post op, but I have to say, my chewables and liquid Vitamins are more manageable!! Plus it wasn't cheap! Maybe those who want to try ican get a sample pack first! I too was tormented yesterday by going out with the family. To one of the best Italian places. It was a birthday party. I sat there and only had ice water My daughter felt so sad eating pizza, and my all time favorite: Spahgetti with meatballs,( sigh) I was so proud of myself. My Mom was trying to psych me out, Honey just think about how much fatter were all getting( and they are ALL already obese) and how skinny you're getting. Lovely. I am only 2 weeks post op, so the missing my food wounds are still so fresh. I have been without my beloved for 4 weeks now, but I have also lost 30lbs!! That's so worth it Sent from my iPhone using VST

I had this last night after trying a soft bolied egg. Yipes, it was horrible. Sweating, nausea and vomiting. I am afraid of eggs now! I'm 2 weeks post op, and was so excited to try that egg, but I see from lots of experiences on here, Im not the only one with an aversion to the egg. I sure hope tuna doesn't do me wrong tomorrow!
