I'm almost 2 months out and I eat pretty good variety. I always focus on Protein first, but I still stay away from beef. They told me for one year, but I might try it out by 6 months!! I am loving turkey. They have ground turkey already seasoned for tacos!! Yum Sent from my iPhone using VST

Water Hurts Going Down, Any Advise?
hellonurse replied to LovingmeForever's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I was told no straws, but it's the only way to get my RTD shakes down ok. I'm 7 weeks post op. As for Water, it hurt me until around week 4. But now, I can take pretty good sips from my portable Brita squeeze bottle. I keep it full of ice water and try to drink 2-3 of them a day! It does get better as the weeks go by! A Size 8? Who Are You Kidding?
hellonurse replied to Cheles's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Awesome!! It feels so good! I had a pair of my favorite Levi's hiding in my closet. I took them out last week(12's) put them on, too big! My daughter asked me" when's the last time you wore those Mom"? I said, uh never. She could not stop laughing! Then she pointed out to be that they are slightly hanging off of me, LOL Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Hi there! I'm 44 years old, single with two daughters. Oldest 25 youngest just turned17. My oldest has two boys 6 and 3. Yep, Im a Grandma! I bought my home ( by myself) 3 years ago this July! I am a hardworking Nurse, I oversee two Assisted Living communities every day and every third weekend take care of the entire senior community on our campus. I consider myself girly, but I also LOVE the NFL. San Diego Chargers being my heart. I love second hand shopping with my girls and playing Wii with my grandsons. I also have a sweet silky baby, Pepper(4 year old silky terrier) I have lost weight many times over the years, but some how it keeps finding me! But seriously, I have no problems losing weight, it's keeping it off that's the major problem!! I'm greatful this surgery is here to help me out! I'm almost 2 months out and have lost 45 pounds, only 35 more to go!!! Woohoo. So wonderful to meet all you fellow Sleevers! Sent from my iPhone using VST

How sad. What does being a medical student do for this person? Make them look more like a jerk! As a nurse, I have made sure I was even more informed of this surgery and have been very complient. We are suppose to be role models and be helpful and informative. I find this appalling. Get your self more educated before posting such garbage. Hopefully you are doing much better! I don't intend to offend you, but it just looks uneducated to state what you did. We are all here to help one another, but we strive to do this in a more positive way. Please take care. I had the same feelings at about the same time post op. Now that I'm almost 2 months out, I can eat, woohoo I choose healthy foods and eat my little teeny portions, but it feels so good to be able to eat(chew) not just have mushy junk. Trust me, it gets better and better. I truly appreciate food much more after surgery!! Sent from my iPhone using VST

I have Cigna. I was one of those that had to do 6 month diet. But after I did everything they asked, it was pretty quick for approval. I had an H.M.O within Cigna and had approval by them in about a week. My surgeon said they wouldn't have even let me see him if they weren't serious about approving my surgery. So I already knew after I finished my 6 month diet and they approved my first consult with my surgeon it was all good!!! I'm now 7 weeks post op Good Luck to you! Sent from my iPhone using VST

How Do You Appear... Young Or Old?
hellonurse replied to PreciousCargo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have lost 44 pounds so far, but look much younger now. The bangs help a bit Im 44 years old and people trip when they meet my 25 year old daughter, they also are blown away when they find out I have two grandsons, 6 and 3. They always say" you don't look like my Grandma" LOL! I must say... I do have to thank my Dad's side of the family for youthful skin. My Grandma who passed at 89, 3 years ago, had almost no wrinkles(scary) with no plastic surgery either! My Daddie, will be 73 next week has no wrinkles either!! He came to my work the other day and brought me flowers( he's so proud of my efforts) people thought he was my boyfriend, Ha! Genetics does have a part in it, plus I do not smoke or drink. That tends to age folks!! Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Hi there! I started eating almonds at 5 weeks post op. I am obsessed with my 100 calorie pack dry roasted almonds. They are the right calories and the right amount! I have my Protein shake for Breakfast, then a bit later my beloved almonds. This has replaced sweets in my life. It's my go to snack! Sent from my iPhone using VST

What If People Treat Me Better As A Thin Person? It Would Make Me So Angry!
hellonurse replied to lunabella007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@butterthebean, I LOVE itLOL I personally have not had self esteem issues. I'm still the same me, whether Im a size 16 or a size 6. I'm the same confident, caring nurse you get every day! It other people's perception. I'm keeping a mental note to who is naughty and nice, Ha. It's sad but true, that people do judge people on what they look like or what they wear etc. I was raised to see the good in folks, no matter what. I just thank all the " haters" and float by on my little cloud, just happy as heck to look AND feel good. It has nothing to do with them, after all All you Sleevers are awesome, best group of folks ever!! Sent from my iPhone using VST -

I have been treated differently at work. It's kind of strange, some folks are so much nicer since Ive lost almost 45 pounds, but I have also noticed some of my so called friends are acting not so nice. Either way, doesn't matter to me in the least. I'm doing this for me and only me. Not to impress anyone. But if it happens to attract a handsome guy sling the way I wont be too upset, LOL! Good Luck and hold your head up high, every body is beautiful, in their own way!! Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Where Are My April 2012 Sleevers?
hellonurse replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi April Sleevers!! April 24th here! I'm doing well, lost 43 pounds so far. I have upped my calories to 800, although I haven't actually ate quite that much! Almost made it there yesterday Since working out so much, I feel a bit run down, so I tried the teeny bit of carbs and more protein and fluids, it really does work!! I was eating around 500-600 calories daily and it was ok, but keeping it between 600-800 seems to be just right for me. I make smart choices and do not feel deprived at all, Im just loving the whole eating food again thing!! If anyone would like to add me as a friend on Myfitnesspal, Im ChargersForever!! Let's do this April Sleevers, we got this Sent from my iPhone using VST -
