Kyethra, I have to ask when does the swelling go down in the upper tummy. My pants are loose in the butt, and thighs, but my bra and waist area is still so swollen. I have my heaviest pants on and I am down 15 lbs. I am 7 days out. I am still confused about 1 thing. On full liquids do we have to wait the 30 minutes to drink, or is that only with solids? And does the pureed/mushie stage include egg salad/with mayo? My husband just bought me a magic bullet I just don't seem to get it! LOL:guess I put cottage cheese in it turned to paste? I love my COCO Wheats, it is so yummy. 1 serving lasted 3 days. Toodles, Gang
  2. Hi Faith, I had the procedure done at central michigan community hospital in Mt. Pleasant. Dr. Sabir did the surgery while teaching Dr. Pilkington. Dr. Sabir came from Providence hospital in Southfield, and did his residency out east. I am very happy. I would love to see a lapband group form though around here.

How long does it take for the bloating to go down in your stomache.? Late, I could not handle the tylenol with codeine from my doctor, I became very nausueous. I was not getting enough relief from the kids chewables so my advice is to have some regular tylenol crushed and ready to go.
  4. Susan I agree, about taste too. If I am going to eat just a couple ounces of somthing I would rather enjoy it and be satisfied then eating chemicals. Steve, I actually like stevia. Thanks to everyone that had input. I was just watching tivod The View, they were talking about how bad having fat around your stomach is. I am only 5 days out but I AM SO GLAD I had this done.

Anyway my biggest concern for my journey was that I have chosen never, ever, to eat or drink anything using any type of sugar free substitutes. I hate it. YUCK! I feel even if I am a slow loser, I will be ok with my decision. When I met with the dietitian I shared my concerns, she said I do not see a problem, if I was to have the Gastric Bypass I would have to have sugar free for the rest of my life for "dumping". But not a concern with the lapband. Also I am a huge ice tea addict. Just ice tea from a tea bag, ice, and a squeeze of lemon. Since being home I have had regular popsicles, regular jello, and broths. Then went to full liquids having regular fudgcicles, and puddings and custards, and yogurts and coco wheats. I am however having fat free cream soups. So I went to the hospital weighing 266 I crested at my highest from the IV's at 271. I am now officially 5 days post op and I am down 15 lbs at 256.:clap2: So here is my thought.....you have surgery, your body is in complete shock, then you recover by being told to have only sugar free products and broth. I think that you throw your body into a survival starvation mode. I feel that you need some sugar and calories to stabilize your system. My thought may come back and bite me in the tush, but I am not convinced sugar free with the chemicals is the best. I would love your thoughts ,I think :nervous. Yikes! Here is a rumor I heard, for every hour that you are under sadation, that is how many days you will feel foggy from the anestitia(SP)? I am feeling much better. Good luck to everyone having surgery next week.

Pam I am like you an apple shape. Actually that would be an interesting poll. How do apples fair during surgery compared to pears. We apples are at such high risk being heavy. Even my EKG strip came back with a problem due to being built like this. Apparently if you are shaped like an apple there is alot of fat around your heart. In my case the fat was interferring with the electric current from my bottom chamber to my top.It is squishing the heart. Kyethra, I am with you, the restriction is amazing, I am a huge volume eater, it is night and day. STACY I love the heating pad for the chills.

Sugarbear and Pam Thanks for the encouragement. I did have it laporospicaly. My doctor did not have me go on a pre surgery diet. I had an extremely fatty liver, and sleep apnea which in consequence had me in surgery for 2 1/2 hours 5 hours in recovery, and ended up in ICU. I have 6 incisions and they had to do alot of tugging so my stomach over the port is black and blue. The doctor said they had a very hard time getting around the liver. I have heard that maybe pre dieting does not work, but most doctors require it and I have not seen people talk much about fatty livers. I am really going to question my doctor about his reasoning.

Hi Guys Banded on Tuesday 3 20. I truly feel like I have had an upper body c section. I am taking another week off of work, I work for a school which starts spring break on the 30th so I will have a nice recovery time. I have the chills, has anyone else had them? I do not have a fever. Also I feel so tight on top but my "Bottom stomache" is growling horribly.

TM I agree I don't know how people go home the same day. It truly feels like a c section only higher. You are usually out of work for 8 weeks after a c section, I am hoping for dramatic improvement. To the veterans out there, I literally feel like my toroso is in a vice, or like a person is sitting on me. I kinda hate to breathe. What do you think? Magnolia I can't wait to have your receipe. I have a question though can we have the gooey cheese baked on top. Won't that go down bad? Whoever suggested the heating pad, your a life saver, it feels so good. I can't wait to have COCO Wheats, I love it. Would that be considered full liquid? Michale out in Denver, how are you doing? I gained those 6 lbs while on the IV's I am happy to report 48 hours later the lbs are gone. Yeah!

Hi Everyone, Had surgery on March 20th went well but I did not have to go on pre diet and the Dr. had to put in a 6th incision because of how fatty my liver was. No Gas pains but the port site is very sensitive. I had to stay over night in the ICU because of my damn sleep apnea. You Guys, I can't wait for that to go away. Not only did I scare them during surgery and while sleeping, I also stopped breathing while I was sitting awake. I HAD NO CLUE THIS COULD HAPPEN. **Very Important tip. I went into the hospital weighing 266 I left this am at 271. I am so bloated. I brought jeans that were loose and I could not even begin to zip them. I don't feel any restriction but I don't know if you can judge by just having liquid. All in all I am glad I had this done. On my way to onderland.

Oh Sandy How nice you were able to talk to your children and will now go into surgery with the peace and comfort that you are supported. My laringitis is cleared up yahoo. I thought I was the only one pigging out. I literaly put a paper on the frig and jotted down foods that will probably be my last, so I had to have them. Has anyone banded have any changes in their tastes. I have read on other sites about people no longer craving sweets, or that stuff tastes different not as appealing. This is probably very premature to ask. This is going to be a long weekend, have a great weekend everyone.

You guys I am so nervous. My surgery was moved up 1 day to Tuesday March 20th. But here is my problem. I have viral laringitis, with a very raspy cough, although (Gross) I am not coughing anything up. I found some cipro in my medicine cabinet and I am taking that. I have my per op tommarow and am concerened they will not clear me. My primary doctor is not supportive of me hAVING THIS DONE, so I hate to see her about the laringitis. Any ideas for fast relief. I have 4 kids so I am trying not to talk, oh my gosh.:help::speechles. Michale we are almost there. Also my doctor does not require any type of pre surgery diet, is anyone else pre surgery dietless? Toodles, Janine
