Anyone from Memphis or Collierville,TN?
RobbieGirl replied to sharirism's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dr Woodman is exactly what several have said. He is a jerk. He is so high on himself it's ridiculous. I would never recommend him to anyone. -

I am feeling a lot better today after a week of mushies only. Two days ago I got a b12 shot because I have had them a few times in the past. No pain in back yesterday or today. I still feel some bloating but much better than before. Today I just heard of Body by Vi shakes and getting the starter kit. Anyone tried it?

Update on the abdominal pain & bloating: Had the upper GI this morning and the radiologist told me he did not see anything abnormal while looking at the screen. Will review pix and then send to surgeon. So now I have had an endoscopy, Abdominal/Pelvic CT scan & the upper GI. All normal. My fear was a slip, erosion, dilation or something, but for now I will chalk this up to the change in medication 3 weeks ago as that seems to be when the pain began. It's good news for sure! Going to give the tummy a good rest (have been doing that & lost 7 lbs in a week) for at least another week before eating anything much. Just doing mushies & liquids now. Aiyani's Mom: I hope everything is going well for you!

Same here. Abdominal pain for days but better since I have been eating less. Still bloated though. Like a whale. Miserable. Appt tomorrow with surgeon so we will see. My Gastro did an endoscopy and it showed the band in place. Also had a CT scan of abdomen & pelvis that was normal. Go figure. Will post what happens tomorrow. I'm getting closer to wanting to have it removed. Weight loss 70 lbs. and would love to lose 30 more. But not this way.

How Did You Feel Physically After Lap Band Removal
RobbieGirl replied to Libralin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have an appt tomorrow morning with surgeon and hope he will agree to remove it. I wasn't the best at following a diet after 2 years. I started having problems last fall. Reflux first but the past few weeks I have abdominal pain and bloating. Both an endoscopy (Oct '12) and CT scan of abdomen & pelvis both showed lap band in place. I just feel like it is time to go. I certainly don't want to have to have emergency surgery! Anyone know if an ultrasound of abdomen would be better than the scope? I wouldn't think so but wondering about it. Don't know what he will say is the next step. Will post tomorrow after appt. -
I understand completely. The pain has gotten better because I'm eating soft/slider foods. But my stomach still feels sore & bloated. I'm going to LB surgeon since both the endoscopy & abdominal CT showed the band in place. Good luck to you and please post what you find out from your second opinion.

I too have been prescribed Celebrex for back pain. I was concerned too because initially I was taking Tylenol arthritis over the counter & it was helping. Unbeknownst to me it had aspirin in it & eventually I had nausea & diarrhea. Gastro doc did an endoscopy and found inflammation of esophagus as well as a few small ulcers. I tok aciphex for 3 months and was better. I also will be checking with LB surgeon about the Celebrex.

Yes, banded 4 years ago & definitely more gas than before. Use gas-x and avoid certain foods.

Hi. I'm back again with the abdominal pain and bloating. Still watching what I eat and even tho the endoscopy & CT scan were both normal I believe this must be lapband.
-
Sorry I just noticed 1st sentence didn't make sense. Pain is not related to lap band.
-
I wanted to let u know that my pain wasn't pain related. CT scan showed lap band normal. The pain I'm having is a pinched nerve. I did go to the ER because I got afraid it was serious. Now I have relief. Thank goodness!

I too have been in pain for several days. Banded in 2008. Lost 70lbs, gained 50 back. In Oct I had nausea & diarrhea for weeks. Went to gasto doc who did an endoscopy. Said the esophagus was inflamed & a few small ulcers. He prescribed aciphex, a proton pump inhibitor. Nausea & diarrhea went away; still taking aciphex. He told me the endoscopy showed the lap band in its normal position. I can eat and do not have nausea. But I am bloated, tight in stomach & the back pain is probably the worst. Today I had a burning feeling under left shoulder blade & tenderness in underarm. The aciphex should have healed the gastritis after 6 weeks. Plus no nausea or diarrhea. Really trying to determine if anything else is up with the band that would not show up on endoscopy. By the way, I have never had a Floro that everyone speaks of because the bariatric surgeon I went to doesn't do them. He did unfill the band totally tho. I have still had some restriction. The only time I have experienced eating problems has been w/the usual things like bread, rice, etc. I have an appt Thurs but tonite I'm hurting & even contemplated going to ER. Ideas??

Dr. George Woodman - Dr. George Woodman is my surgeon
RobbieGirl replied to steph999's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I have to disagree. This man is an ego maniac. You can't even ask questions because he has to do the talking. Seriously, I had a successful surgery and lost a lot of weight but when you gain 5 pounds he will get ugly. He's overloaded now, working week-ends, starting up other locations. He's the only surgeon/doctor there. It is going to catch up w/him. Very arrogant man. Some of his patients believe his whole intent is to make you strong, but IMO a doctor does not treat patients this way. It's not just me. There are plenty of upset patients & spouses because of his rudeness.
