Hi everyone..I'm doing pretty good. I've hit a stall, but I'm currently finishing up nursing school, so once that's done, I will concentrate on toning. Starting weight = 219 current weight = 145. I'm so happy about this fabulous gift, and new way of life! (Tried to upload pics, but system crashed...maybe another time)

Wow... After 2 months of having my initial paperwork faxed, 2 denials, and on the 1st Appeal, I was Approved on August 1st. YAY !! Im so Happy, and relieved that this saga is over... God is really Good!! This whole insurance process has been very daunting, exhausting, and down right aggrivating, but through all of this this Ive learned some valuable lessons, and I plan to write a separate post on that soon. I have not recieved my letter as of yet, but the rep stated that it was mailed out, and I should get it this week. I will call my surgeons office tomorrow morning to figure out our next step... hopefully to schedule a date real soon-- maybe a August sleever ????

I was sleeved on Wednesday, October the 24th. My Surgery was at 8am (7:50am ). It went pretty well. No complications per my Dr and Husband. I woke up in recovery with the urge to urinate constantly, but other than that, no real problems. I had the NG tube, and the JP drain. Ironically, that didnt give me too much problem. I had Ice chips only that day, but i was so groggy, and sleepy from the anesthesia, and dilaudid, that I was VERY comfortable. As far as the sleeve.... well at first it felt a little weird for fluids to go down after the NG tube was removed. No real pain... but I could feel fluids move around the part where the esophagus meets the stomach. I woke up only once feeling like I had to vomit, but didnt... strange... Since Ive been home, every day is getting better. At first I only tolerated a few spoonfuls of Soup at a time. Now Im able to eat a laddle-ful at one time.. (very slowly). I started full liquids yesterday, and I had some low-fat cream of broccolli(sp) soup.... It was HEAVEN!! The discomfort going down is less, and less. Im being careful with activities, and trying not to go overboard, because Im such a busy person... Its very strange not to do ANYTHING!! lol But, Ive walked the dog (5lb), and even been to Wal-mart with my husband. (all very slowly) Ive lost 10lbs since surgery...Im very excited about that!! just wanted to share with everyone whats going on with me. I hope all my 10/24's are doing well.....

Wow....so how did it go...??? Wednesday will be my 4 weeks and so far I've lost 22 lbs...everyday is a learning experience. I'm learning what the new "full" is. (its not the same feeling). I would like to start getting some walking in soon...

Hey everybody!! I'm 4"11.. starting weight was 218lbs, I had surgery on 10/24 (3 weeks ago). I'm now 200lbs!! I haven't officially weighed in this week, so it could be more!! Pants are fitting better, my face is getting smaller! I feel GREAT!!

I'm feeling the same way.... I think I had too much tonight..I had a small bowl of cream of wheat (thin), but the "fat girl" in me wanted to eat one more bite!!! I threw up/slimmed a little bit... I feel like I have more to do...(ugh....NEVER AGAIN)

Congratulations to all of you!! Im Post day #5, and everyday is better!! Prayers that the creator continue to guide and instruct the Dr's and nurses for your behalf and that everything is successful today!!

On my way to the hospital... This is really happening! I know God is with me (as always today) praying for safe and successful outcomes with my 10/24's...... Peace!

Congrats!!! I was sleeved yesterday, and just walked in my house. I'm feeeling good... Just the initial soreness in the gut! (Lol). A whole new world ahead of us....

Thanks everyone... Surgery went well. Started on clears today (hmmm). Taking great pain meds (dilaudid and Toradol).. plan to go home sometime today

WOW!! What a great feeling! Im taking meds for my high b/p, so I cant wait until I get the same great news! God is good!

I am really excited... Not nervous at all.... Im totally at peace :D

Hey everyone... in preparation for my VSG on Wednesday (24th), I decided to post a you tube video!! I thought about it for awhile, and figured... its now or never!! lol. I really enjoy guiding others to WLS if needed or desired, and really want to break down the negative stereotype this surgery has at times.... So if you have some time, check it out... I started this Journey August 20 2011. I never thought I would get to this date. October 24th will be the first day of my new life, and Im so excited. After the 6 month wait, after the insurance denials, and appeal, and even after the outstanding copay (2k), I am getting this done!! Whooooo Im so excited. No fear or anxiety. Im just ready. I dont think anyone in my family can understand what Im feeling, So this is why Im sharing it with you guys that are reading tonight. Im realistic... I know there will be pain, gas, nausea... and Im ready for that too, because once that has passed, I can really enjoy healthy eating practices that will turn into weight loss, and overall health for me. I can run around with my 4 year old without getting winded, I can enjoy looking and feeling sexy for me (and my husband). Im Ready!! All faith- No fear

This weight will NEVER come off any other way. I'm realistic of the potential challenges, but Im so ready to get this going, and move on with my life. You will be fine! I have 9 more days to go!! Yay!

Hey we are sleeve twins as well... Im set for 10/24/12... First surgery of the day- 8am. I have to complete my cardiac clearance on Monday, and pay this ridiculous co-pay (lol.) Im trying to get through this pre op diet, but over all Im still in denial that this is really happening. Several times during the day, Im thinking "Holy-smokes Im having this surgery in two weeks"..... Blessings to you all for a great surgery

Im just throwing this out there, but is 4k a "normal" out of pocket estimate amount for this procedure? I spoke with the surgeons office today, and she explained to me that this is my amount that is due PRIOR to surgery.... After I fainted, she explained that the hospital will accept 1/2 payment...(2K)?? I really didnt expect to pay that much... Everyone has thrown in anywhere between $0 to $1500~I called the hospital business line, but no one has returned my Call. My daughter has had 2 knees surgeries, and I never had to pay any more than $250 out of pocket prior to surgery. Is it because the VSG is considered an "elective" surgery? Should I plead with the billing department in paying 25% (1k)? Im aware that the $4,294.77 is my responsibility, but to require 1/2 prior to surgery is way too much! And more than I can afford @ once..Any advice, pleeeeease????

Thats great, great news!! Just like Geno5150 suggested, I would call Cigna to be on the safe side to see if bariatric is included in your policy.. Cigna can be a real PAIN,,, so be sure to have all your documentation in order... I wrote a post regarding it.. If you have any questions, just holla!!

Actually, My Surgeons team Pre-screened my insurance, and then after it was accepted, they made an appointment. So...How did your appointment go today???

Well I do know that my Hospital stay (on my Cigna card) say $250/Night.... But if the co-insurance, and deductibles are added in and calculated, thats how my "share" for the out of pocket max was 4K... My Hospitals Policy was to pay the 50% prior to surgery..And they are still pretty firm with that! Im sure Im explaining this all wrong (LOL) BUT .. Are you already approved? If you are, then Cigna could give you an explanation, and you can get an idea of what you may have to pay...

Thanks everyone... I really was'nt aware of all the various costs involved. Im going to re-check my policy tonight with Cigna. My surgeon is associated with the hospital and is head of the Bariatric Program, so I dont know why he would be considered "out of network". I can only try... Im in too deep now, so my main concern is coughing up the money (within 6 weeks)... hmmm if its not one drama- its another..

I am on the 23rd...... You can in/box me! (Im excited too. It will be here before we know it)
