    Underfilled and overfilled!

Happy to hear your little mix up is now corrected I had times where i was aspirating in my sleep literally choking on my own saliva you don't want to be there it's an awful feeling just got unfilled a bit this week. 19 lbs Below goal weight eating much better with some fill removed good luck to you.
  3. NO Carbs no sugar tons of Water and exercise! good luck
  4. Hi Grace, you just got banded it takes a while depending on the sz band you have. Your going to be hungry and not have good restriction until your band is adjusted. I was banded in sept of 07 and as of this past week i finally have very good restriction almost to much i think. This all takes time so be patient it might take several fills before your on the road to some good weight loss and feeling full. good luck
  5. :biggrin2: Janet what your thinking and feeling is perfectly normal i did the same thing always worried i am going to fail even after surgery. your not going to fail it all takes time and remember this is just a tool it's still hard work! I am 4 months post op down about 25lbs doesn't sound like much but i can feel and see that 25lbs, i might be down more but refuse to keep scale hopping that is the most frustrating thing seeing your wt go up and down. keep on track and keep food logs if you have to. Your not filled yet so you feel like you can eat the way you did prior to surgery and yes that is true because you don't have restriction it took me 3 fill until this past dec to get good restriction and all i did is get food stuck and my best friend was the bowl:sad: I personally feel that i'm never going to lose the wt i need to lose but with hard work and keeping on track it will happen i know alot of people personally that have had great success with the lapband and they all felt the same way i did about failing after surgery keep positive thoughts and we all will win this life long battle!:biggrin2:

    Need Some Extra Support

Hi spunky, First of all glad to hear you did well with the surgery i talked to u the night before your surgery in the chat room. This should be a happy time in your life because your starting a new life. One of the best things the band has done for me is give me peace of mind that when i lose my wt I know i'm not going to gain it back this time! Another great thing with the band you'll NEVER leave the table feeling stuffed saying why did i eat that much i feel horriable it's 3 months since my surgery and not once have i had to go through that stuffed full yukky feeling asking why did I stuff myself. There are so many positive things to look forward to with the lapband, this will be the hardest time recovering and the food intake or shall i say the non food intake.
  7. I think this is where the chew chew chew comes in that we were taught prior to surgery what a learning experience so this is the way it's suppose to be, i'm able to get things down a bit more by taking my time and chewing chewing chewing i hope i have teeth left by the time i get thin lol. ty for your input this talk sight is such a huge help thank u again i'm ready for my next meal:hungry:
  8. I'm months post-op I have a 10cc AP band first fill was 3.5 felt nothing 2nd fill total 5.5 felt a bit of restriction 3rd fill dec 12th 07 1cc total 6.5 For the past 3 days everything i've tried i've had pain after 2 to 3 bites and had to go visit the bowl !:rolleyes don't think i've had a total of 500 calories in the past 3 days if that, just wondering if this is the way restiction suppose feel? even Jello after a few spoonfuls was tough going down. Been working on a pork chop now for about a half hr with pain! I am to filled? will this go away in a few more days any advice or suggestion would be great. wondering how others feel with restriction looking for opinons thank u. total wt loss 26lbs aprox. 100 more to go
  9. This is day 4 since i've had restriction like this, liquids go down fine soft foods go down fine, I tried several other things certian things get stuck other things don't i am going to see how the weekend goes if i'm spending time at the bowl after i eat then I'll go see the doc. Thank you also lorsbander sorry to hear about your problems
  10. I can get soft foods down like cottage cheese and yogart, if i can't get solids down i'll call the docs office on monday. thank you
  11. Finally know what restricted is all about went for my 3rd fill a few days before thanksgiving i've never puked up in my life as i have this past week! liquids and soft foods go down just fine this is the stage where you need to chew and chew and chew small tiny bites i can now see how this banding works! down 23lbs banded sept 7th 07 VG 10 cc band total fills 5.5
  12. Diva, so what your saying is you have a total of 6cc's in your 10 cc band so it took that much fill to finally feel restricted? I am going for my second fill weds i wonder if i should tell my doc fill it up lol? this is nuts over the past few weeks i'm eating more and more not bad foods just more portion wise of proper foods can't wait until my next fill 5 more days and counting. cindy
  13. I had a my first fill with 3cc's and don't feel a bit of difference i also have a 10cc band i am going back the 31st and hopefully he'll fill it so i can feel some restriction i can still eat bread, chicken, etc i hear people saying food gets stuck nothing gets suck for me so i know i need some band adjustment i am down 14lbs not much in 6weeks hopefully once i'm tightened i'll start losing some serious wt. good luck

    No Restriction and Hungry

Had my first fill today 10/16 doc, found my port right away i said wow u found itfast! doc replied yes i'm the one that put it there i better be able to find it lol! i asked if i should go back on liquids he said keep on doing what your doing so i had some soft foods/ muchies today and everything went down actually to well. I was filled with 3cc's i have a new band that just came out 2 months ago he said it's a 10cc band and that leaves room for my adjustments i guess he knows what is best after all not only is he my surgeon he also educates other surgeons on banding. As i read up above it can take a few weeks i also have to see my doc every 2 weeks for the next 3 months. I'm 5 weeks post-op and down 13lbs i'm fine with that wt loss after all it took me years to put it on so i don't mind a few yrs to get it off!

    No Restriction and Hungry

I don't know what my band size is i just found out a few weeks after my surgery which was sept 7th 07 that there are different size bands i have my post-op visit tues oct 16th so i will ask when i go what i have. I also heard that it might take a few fills before you really start to lose wt. i am thinking postive but after yrs of dieiting and always failing i still have the same negative thoughts instilled in my head time will soon tell how the fills are working. good luck i'll keep you posted. cindy

    No Restriction and Hungry

I'm with everyone on this one! i'm going for my first fill tues oct 16th the past few weeks i feel like i am back to my normal self before surgery and it sure makes ya think am i going to fail at this? I am also hoping once i have my first fill it will be down hill in a good way. I've lost 10lbs the first week of surgery and haven't lost a pound since then. I just learned there are different size bands i have no clue what size i have does anyone know why there are there are two sizes and how does the surgeon determine what sz to use? cindy
  19. Darr, your doctor should of given you instructions on your fluid intake, I had all kinds of information and paper work also the dietician came in both days i was in the hospital to go over what i was suppose to do. First thing i suggest contact your surgeon every surgeon works a little different I am 2 weeks post-op and for the first 2 weeks i was on clear liquids along with 4 to 5 protien shakes a day my dietician wanted me to have between 50 to 75 grams of protien daily but those #'s also go by your weight. Keeping in mind that are bodies take 4 to 6 weeks to heal we have to be very careful about what goes in out bodies so that band can heal properly. Please contact your doctor ASAP you don't want to make any mistakes after having surgery. good luck cindy
  20. lol i think we all go through that what will be my last meal etc. I did NOT have to do a pre-op diet but i did liquids for 4 days prior to my surgery which was last week sept 7th. After 46 yrs of eating they way i did and look where it got me to the OR for wt loss surgery. I know what every kind of food in the world taste like so there was nothing that i need to have in my body so i said cleanse your body the best you can don't polute it any more than u have over the yrs it was tough but i did just that, don't get me wrong i'm no staint, Hubby and I did hit the olive Garden sunday for dinner and they couldn't cook those bread sticks fast enough lol best of luck with your surgery tomorrow the first few days for me were not any fun but every day makes a huge difference with recovery i'm feeling great 6 days post-op out doing yard work and shopping already! cin,
  21. tiger please don't get discouraged my journey of approvals and fighting with the insur co. took me 2 yrs!!!!!!!!!! i finally took matters into my own hands with cigna which we are now changing to Athem B/C B/S as of Jan 08. I spent hours on end on the phone everyone told me a different story i would'nt give up until i got what i wanted which was my banding and proud to say 6 days post-op! I wrote several letters brought them to my PCP had my Doc put it on thier letter head i also have sleep apena borderline diabetes etc. all that sure did play a roll in my approval along with joining a gym over a yr ago and after 30 yrs i stopped smoking that's how serious i was on getting this weight off and with all the hard work and dermination i finally got approved not sure what is going to happen with my fill once our Athem insur kicks in come Jan but i'll handle that that will be the easy part. Hang in the i was in the same boat as you and almost gave up when i got 3 denials months after months i was in tears and said the hec with it i'll stay huge and let the insurance co pay for my rehab after i stroke out I once again pulled my thoughts together and said who are they to say i can't have surgery they don't know me from here to adam i got extremely angry went to war and won my battle!!!!!!! now i'm on the road to success so pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee don't give up fight until the bitter end you sound more than ready for this surgery and a life style change you can do it you can you can! Sending postive thoughts, you started the war now win your battle! best of luck cindy from Ma.
