  1. I am so use to eating a lot of food and now I am on the pre-op diet....only on day 3....and I am struggling big time. So far, I have still stuck to it. I am having trouble with the Protein shakes as I don't seem to like any of them. I have Protein Power, nectar, Isopure, Slimfast, and the Oh Yay shakes. I have to guzzle them and then I have to try my best not to gag and throw them back up. I hope that this will all be worth it in the end. I have a wedding to attend at the end of the month, in which I will still be on the liquid diet....so no solid food eating there. Then there is Thanksgiving coming up along with Christmas and New Years....HUGE holiday family events with lots of eating.... Sometimes I just think that maybe I was just meant to be fat....some people are OK in their own skin.....I am not really...but the sacrifices....I just don't know if I can do it. Still doing my best to stay on the pre-op diet track....I still have 11 days to go until surgery.

How do you survive the 2 week pre-op diet?

Thanks! I am totally going to suck it up and do what I have to do....it just sucks....I keep telling myself it is not forever.....just another 11 days.... So far I only went off menu once, and it was just a cup of healthy heart, low fat, low sodium, cream of chicken soup. Soup is not on my menu of things I can eat, but I figured it wasn't that bad since it was very low fat and I needed something more than the Protein shakes which I hate....but drink them anyway. Thanks for all the encouragement! October 3rd cannot get here fast enough!

    diet restrictions before surgery

I am on day 3 of my pre-op diet. I have to have 2 Protein shakes a day and then a very strict dinner....one protein, one veggie, and one starch. I am having trouble with the Protein Shakes as I have tried about 8 of them now and don't like any of them. I basically have to guzzle them down and pray I don't gag and throw them back up. No pre-op diet....you are one of the lucky ones! My Dr puts everyone on this diet as he says it shrinks the liver and make the laproscopic surgery safer. Then it is 3-4 weeks of liquids after the surgery, then 2-3 weeks of mushies, then finally....real food.
  4. Hi, I am new to this group and have gone through my whole process of qualifying for the lap band, but don't yet have a surgery date. My main question to those of you who have had the lap band in place is...do you find it hard to eat so little after eating a lot? I personally eat large quantities food and am getting nervous that I will fail as a lap banded person because I won't be able to eat just the small amount and portions that you are suppose to eat. Can anyone share their experience with eating before lap band and after? Was it a hard transition? Are their easy ways to cope? Kim

Question about eating habits after surgery

Thank you so much for your feedback! It really helps a lot....I have my surgery date...Oct 3rd....I am in my 2 week pre-surgery diet and struggling. My stomach does not like the Protein drinks...none of them....after I drink them I feel so sick....but I am doing exactly what the Dr told me so that I can have a safe surgery. I hope that recovery is easier than pre-surgery diet....at least in recovery I can eat Soup.
