What are some of things you notice when at restriction?
-
Just had my 3rd fill last thursday and am at 4.75cc in 10cc band. I was beginning to think I was too tight up until today. swelling must be down a bit, but I finally can put something other than water in my mouth without it coming back up later. I have noticed some restriction today, hoping that I am close or at my green zone. I do know that mornings I have to have something hot to drink before I can do anything else... too tight in AM. Throughout the day also cold fluids dont do me well.... but that is OK for me... I will keep moving along and losing weight...

It's Been A While, But I'm Back, And Alive....
RbL7FB replied to 54Shirley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your slip... are you talking slip and fall or your band slipped? Seizure activity comes from the brain, not the stomach.... if you slipped and fell I can imagine that... to have repetitive seizures is a toughy... maybe from your left lung being infected? or inflammed? what do you mean by engulfed? Glad you are feeling better though... -
Nothing... Had a fill the other day and water is about it for me right now till some swelling goes away!!
-
I had severe acid reflux BEFORE the band, found a hernia, and did a plication with the placement of the band... acid reflux is GONE... You may have a hernia and that is causing the acid reflux...

Dr. Joseph Naim - Great Surgeon!!!
RbL7FB replied to tavimew's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I too have Naim as Doc.... great guy, -
After a fill you are supposed to be on liquids for couple days then mushies for a couple. You will get some swelling following a fill and it will take time to adjust... be patient.... if you can get water down then you are doing good. if after a few days and no change, then call your doc......

Quit watching the scale.... also change it up a bit... dont do the same exercise and change up your meals... your body adapts to things then maintains. Also, you were just banded so you are not even in the green zone yet, it will take a few fills and A LOT of frustration till you get there. Just go with it and trust what you put in your mouth. Have faith and you will get where you want. I lose 5-10 lbs right away then will stay the same weight for a good 3-4 weeks, it does not mean I am failing, just need some minor changes in habit or re-evaluate what I am eating and what exercises I am doing. Also, may want to increase your work out time. For most people, the first 20 min of workout gets you warmed up. You need to look into 35+ min of cardio workout and maybe some light weight training; it burns MORE calories.

Your Dr. told you to take an antihistimine for the mucus production, or mucinex? Really.... Your band is too tight, it is because of this you are producing the mucus...

What Am I Doing Wrong? Constructive Adivce Needed :)
RbL7FB replied to I-wanna-be-a-loser's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You barely have had the band in..... Relax, this is not a RAPID weight loss... it is a slow methodical weight loss. You have to get into the greenzone before you start seeing significant changes. The fact that you are losing and your inches are changing says quite a bit. Instead of worrying about weight loss, focus on some other project. Dont watch scales, dont count calories. You know that a McDonalds meal is dang near 1000 calories. You know what proteins and such are... just go with the flow and I promise as you get your adjustments, you will find you are losing the weight. -
Stay hydrated (minimum 2qts per day). ensure you getting plenty of exercise. make sure those calories are not nasty calories.....
-
Probably no good. you need a good 7-10 days just for the incisions to close up. I would not recommend this at all... however once you are healed and feeling much better, I have had no issues in the water (diving that is)

Premier Protein, purchased at Costco by the case. Pre-made, chocolate and Vanilla are pretty dang good. 11oz gives you 30g of Protein, 160 calories and only 5g carbs. and at $25.99 for 30 is not too bad.

Getting stuck SUCKS.... I am learning the ropes with my body and since my 2nd fill, it seems only mushy food or liquids are all that will go down... maybe I just need to pay better attention at what I am doing...

carbonation on a "regular" basis is more of the issue. As the carbon dioxide from the carbonation expands in your "pouch"; over a period of time you run the risk of stretching out the pouch. As with ETOH, it is more HOW you consume it, if you have eaten, etc.... no changes... Just try not to over-do the carbonation....

I'm still a newbie... banded Nov 9. Only 1 fill thus far and I can tell I am far from the green zone. I have eaten most everything that I used to, smaller protions and really have to chew the food. I have next fill scheduled for next week, hoping to see a greater improvement. I am in bandster hell right now and staying positive is one of the harder aspects.

HOLY CRAP!!!.... I need to reconsider my calories. however 1200 seems low and are you in the green zone? I have had 1 fill and am definetely not in the green zone yet!!

Help! What Do You Recommend For Bowel Movements After Lap Band Surgery?
RbL7FB replied to thinspiration's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WATER... you are probably slightly dehydrated.... once you increase water, add additional fiber to your diet. -
jane, your band was too tight, that is why you got stuck and could not get food down. You need to go back to your surgeon and they will put maybe 2cc back in. It may take a few fills to get you where you need to be. I had 3cc put in my band on first fill, today feels like there is NO restriction at all. Just dont get discouraged, give it TIME....

I am going for my second on 1/10, First one I felt a bit of restriction for the first 5 or so days, probably swelling, and my first fill was 3cc. The goal is to watch your calories and "CONDITION" yourself for success. The band is only a tool, it will not take your cravings of "bad" food, you can still get hungry, you just have to control WHAT AND HOW MUCH you eat. You must have the desire to lose weight to do it.. .remember only a tool, you are the one that makes the tool work.

Light Headed And Passing Out
RbL7FB replied to Pinkygirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those all are signs of dehydration. Ensure that your water intake is up. A lot of people, for some reason believe, that becasue it is winter time they do not need to drink as much water cause they are not sweating. So false. Need to increase your fluid intake. Ensure that you are eating and getting the proper amount of vitamins from your food or from supplements. -

Getting stuck SUCKS.. .done it a few times... all because of not paying attention yet. still learning this band stuff... had 1 fill thus far. Typically take a bite and as I am swallowing I am saying to myself... Dang, this gonna suck.... and it does...
