I was sleeved the same day as you and I have lost only eight pounds, all within the first several days after surgery. I haven't lost weight in over a week, and as a matter of fact, have gained a pound and a half in the last two days. Consider 15 pounds lucky!

Sleeved!! Oh lord do I need support!

The first week or so I couldn't drink anything cold either. But now at three weeks post op I can drink cold Water again. If you are in pain, take the meds, no need to try and be a wonder woman. If it knocks you out, then rest. Your body needs rest to recuperate anyhow, and you might as well get the rest while you can. I knew he would come around, told ya so! -
How Soon Were You Back To Work?
Shalon replied to Tai29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tomorrow is my three week mark and I go back to work on Tuesday. I don't have any surgical pain and feel "fine" I have just had trouble getting food down and am therefore really tired. I could do my job (legal secretary) without a problem, I'm just worried about lasting all day and then coming home to my three kids under 8. -

I do pray that this all turns around, but at this point I can't get anything down. Everything makes me feel ill. Soup, pudding, jello, cheese, no matter what I try, it makes me sick. I don't vomit but I have to lie down til it passes, or else I feel like I am going to pass out. -

I am three weeks post op on Monday and the scale hasn't moved for me in six days either. I have only lost nine pounds in three weeks, and lost waaaaaaaay more pre-surgery as well. At this point I am in regret land and just wish I never did this. I assume it will fail like everything else I have tried. I'm completely over it all to be honest. -
15 lbs gain after surgery ?
Shalon replied to jayzer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I came home eight pounds heavier, and was waking up five or six times a night to urinate to get rid of all of those liquids. I think it took four or five days to get rid of all the IV fluids. -
I had surgery the same date, and while I haven't tried Pasta, I have had a couple of bites of Beans, and about a quarter of a piece of chicken breast. The liquid stage that my doctor has me on is so long, and I see so many other sleeve diet plans that allow gradual progressions of foods after only two weeks. Today so far I have had yogurt, chicken broth, and four spoon full of refried beans with cheese. The beans are not supposed to be for another five days, but so far so good.

Same thing for me!

When does the first stall usually happen?
Shalon posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know everyone is different, but when did most of you experience your first stall? Yesterday I was two weeks post op, and I haven't dropped any weight in four days. Seems early for a stall, I could have sworn most people were further out, and as much as four months out? -

Oh, I completely agree in every way! I blogged about how I didn't gain it in a day, a week, a month, or even a year and how I am trying to be patient. I just haven't seen many posts with such an early stall and it just falls into my fear of this not working and all being for nothing. -

I know we aren't supposed to use the word "only" but I have lost 10 pounds in 16 days, I could have done that on my own! Really regretting this surgery at this point. -
Two weeks post op and finally able to try some yogurt. I bought the Activia Lite 4 ounce yogurts. I ate a peach one very slowly, probably over about 15 minutes, however, I was able to eat the entire four ounces without an issue. Should I be concerned? Does that seem like too much in one sitting for two weeks post op? I see people say they can only eat 2 oz here or there, but I am not clear if that is solids, or something thin like yogurt? I haven't lost weight for three days, so I am a little worried, sorry!
-
Ok thanks! I was thinking I would feel something after the first two ounces, but I was fine, and before I knew it the yogurt was gone. I bought some cottage cheese hoping I could tough it out, but I just can't. It is so disgusting! It will be a long week of cheese and yogurt, and then on to Beans and fish next week, yay!

I used to be too fat and now I'm too thin...I just can't win

Sounds like a control issue and not a body or image issue. I pray for your child more than anything. You are teaching her to mistreat her body and not have any self-esteem as she is. That is irreparable damage at this point in her life. Ironically when you were heavy you let food control you, and now you are doing the very same thing. Food is fuel to make your body run, stop letting it run your life and take control of yourself. -
Approved today...so why am I freaking out??
Shalon replied to bethk12@gmail.com's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Completely normal. You will see your emotions fluctuate up until your surgery date and for the few weeks after. Just keep telling yourself, you have done your research and this is necessary to keep the weight off permanently and live a healthier life for you and your family. Congratulations! -

Only a few more days until....MY SLEEVE!!
Shalon replied to HappyFace's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great decision for yourself! Maybe you should tell him just before church? Maybe there will be something in the sermon that will speak to him and clear his mind? You never know! He will come around, you'll see! -
When to buy new clothes
Shalon replied to Brockcrawford's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was wondering this same thing. I am guessing clearance racks will be my even newer best friend soon! -
I read so many posts about how people are never hungry after surgery and actually have to remind themselves to eat. I'm really getting confused. I am only five days post op and my stomach is growling. My husband tried to tell me it's all in my head, but my stomach is audibly growling constantly. I am still on the 2 week post op diet with only liquids and one Protein Shake per day. I am dying to try a spoonful of yogurt or something just to get my stomach to shut the heck up! It's super annoying. How can my tummy be so hungry so early on? Should I call my doctor? So confused.

I am eleven days post op and last night I made Hamburger Helper for my family. I had three bites of the ground beef, which was pretty fine and chewed it til it was almost non-existent. It is now 3:45 the next day and I can still feel it sitting in my stomach. A friend of mine said it took her a couple of months to work up to ground beef. I also read that the leaner the meat is, the harder it is to digest. I have always bought the 4% lean beef, so it was low in fat. : I didn't throw up or get sick at all, but I can definitely still feel it sitting there. That was my first attempt at any kind of meat or "food" since I am still supposed to be on clear liquids. However, I had a breakdown yesterday afternoon and was throwing all caution to the wind to make myself feel better. See where that got me? LOL!

I'm sorry that you had such a meltdown. My paperwork said a three wee pre op diet, but when I met with my surgeon he said he really only needed 10 days to shrink the liver. I ate a lot during that ten days, but kept it under 800 calories per day. You can get thru this, you really can. It's hard, but it's a pre-cursor to what your post surgery life will be. I still sit at the table with my bowl of chicken broth and talk with the family and kids. The difference is now, most of what they are eating does not look tasty to me any more. I think it is much easier once you are post surgery because you know the majority of those items will make you sick. I am only 11 days post op, but I had to make a late and easy dinner last night and made Hamburger Helper. I was looking at it and thinking ewwwwwwwwww, cuz I knew how sick it would make me feel. The pre op diet is necessary to shrink your liver and make your surgery safer. Just try and remind yourself of that. You can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I believe in you.

I bought about 12 bottles of Vitamin Water Zero for post surgery purposes and it's amazing because now it's hard for me to stomach them. My taste buds are super sensitive right now and they taste soooooooooo sweet to me that I have to chase each drink with water. Oh vey!

What did I do to myself!!!!!!!?????
Shalon replied to Pagie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a friend that had RNY and she lived and died by Starbucks iced tea. Something mentally about getting out and getting something out of the house did the trick for her. It seems when I go an get their iced tea it's different than making my own at home. That is the easiest way for me to get down 32 oz. At this point, 11 days post op and still in the liquids phase, I am willing to do whatever works.
