First Fill Flutters.......
txdiva replied to larpens's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got my first fill today. I was told not to eat for at least 4 hours before my fill. Then I'm to drink liquids today & tomorrow then mushy food the next then I can slowly add the solid food. -
I got my first fill today. Apparently I had 4 cc when I had my surgery, now I'm up to 5. I was told protein shakes today & tomorrow then mushy foods. Why can't we eat after a fill?

Sept 2011 bandsters
txdiva replied to WannaBeSlimNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on Sept. 15 and have lost a total of 17 lbs. I lost 10 lbs on the post op diet and another 7 lbs since the surgery. I am starting to get more hungry. I have my first fill on Oct. 13. I'm a little nervous. I'm not sure what to expect. I haven't had any trouble eating anything. When I get my fill I know I will need to be more careful about what I eat. I was wondering what everyone eats during the day. What is a typical day like for you? Thanks, Lisa -

I was banded on Sept. 15 and day 2 was the worst. I had really bad gas pains that shot up to my shoulder and neck. I was eating Gas-X like candy. I am now almost back to normal. I am finally eating a little more. In fact, today I have been really hungry. I go for my first fill Oct. 13. I hope everything goes ok with that. -
I had my lap band surgery yesterday along with the hernia repair and I am really sore this morning. I also have bad gas pains. I have been walking some and taking Gas X but I was wondering if anyone here has any other suggestions for getting rid of the pain. Also, how long does the gas pains last?

I had my lap band surgery along with the hernia repair yesterday. I am really sore this morning. The liquid pain medicine I have is so bad I gag when I take it. So I havent been taking very much of it. The gas pains are bad. I have been walking and taking Gas X but it doesnt seem to help much. I am going to buy a new heating pad today since the one I have isnt working. I am hoping that will help. I am looking forward to when I am pain free.

I got the call this afternoon informing me to be at the hospital at 730 Thursday morning. I'm excited but also nervous. I was reading on another site about all the things that can go wrong and was starting to get scared. I just keep telling myself that those are extreme circumstances.

I just got notified by the company that sent me my sleep study machine that I have mild to moderate sleep apnea and I need a cpap machine before I can have my hernia/lap band surgery. I am supposed to hear from someone by Monday or Tuesday about sending me the machine. The problem is my surgery is scheduled for Sept. 15 which is next Thursday. If I dont get the machine in time will I still be able to have my surgery? I really dont think I need the cpap anyway. I never had a problem with sleep before. My husband and I have already scheduled the 15th off from work. Was anyone here diagnosed with sleep apnea prior to surgery? Did you need to bring the machine with you to the hospital?

I am so excited. Thursday is the day I have my surgery. I have lost 6 of the 7 to 10 lbs I need to lose by Thursday. I plan on losing more by then. It has been hard. There were a few times I wanted to eat something I shouldn't but I perservered. Those of you that have had your surgery, how did you feel afterwards? Were you hungry? Did you have any pain? I heard that after a few weeks you start to get hungry before your first fill, is that true? Thanks, Lisa

I have a question for those of you that have had your band for a while. What is your average weight loss a month?

Wow. I am gone a few days and I missed so many posts. This place is really active. For those of you that have had your surgery this month, CONGRATULATIONS! I am looking forward to the 15th when I have mine. Thank you for posting about how you felt the few days after surgery. It lets me know what to expect. I started my pre-op diet a couple of days ago and I have lost 2 lbs. so far. I need to lose 7 to 10 before surgery. I am aiming for the 10 lb mark because I'm sure there is a slight difference in my scale at home than the doctor's scale. It would be my luck if my scale said a 7 lb loss and I get to the hospital the morning of surgery and their scale said I only lost 6 lbs. I hope everyone has a great Labor Day!

LapBand Food Stages Lists Suggestions
txdiva replied to dylansmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am so glad I found this thread. I started my pre-op diet yesterday. My surgery is Sept. 15. I have been worried about eating after the surgery. In fact I had decided to just stick with Protein shakes until my first fill because I am scared to eat after the surgery because you have to be so careful. Thank you for your food ideas and suggestions. Lisa -
I am starting my 2 week pre op diet tomorrow. My surgery is on the 15th. I am supposed to have 2 shakes a day and one low carb meal. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to fix for my one meal? Thanks, Lisa

Hi everyone. My surgery is scheduled for September 15. I cant wait! I had my EGD done last Thursday and the doctor found hiatal hernia. That's good news to me. My insurance will cover the hernia repair and save $4400.
-
Good luck today. I might see you up there. I have to be there at 7 for an EGD. Let us know how things went. I'm so excited for you! Lisa

I am having an EGD done in the morning and was wondering what to expect. Has anyone had this done prior to their lap band surgery. My doctor is Dr. Reilly and I was told that he requires all his patients to have one in case of hiatal hernia. I have heartburn really bad. In fact I have to take Zantac every night before I go to bed but I really don't think I have hiatal hernia. Anyway I was just wondering what to expect before & after the procedure.

My surgery date is the Sept.15. Tomorrow morning I am having an EGD done. I'm a little nervous. For those of you that have had it done, how did you feel afterwards? I'm having it done at True Results Houston. Dr. Reilly is my doctor.

I had my first consultation on Monday and am scheduled to be banded on Sept. 15. My doctor is Dr. Reilly in Houston. I was wondering if anyone else has used Dr. Reilly and what they thought of him. I haven't met him yet. I'll meet him when I have my EGD done on Aug. 25. I'm a little nervous about both procedures. The EGD makes me nervous because its just the thought of having a scope put down my throat. I know I will be knocked out but I'm still nervous. I'm nervous about the lap band because I've have tried every thing else to lose weight and this is my last hope. Also, I am financing this procedure and it's alot of money to shell out if it doesn't work. Has anyone ever regretted their decision to have the lap band done? Thanks, Lisa

I am having an EGD done on Thursday. I am also nervous. Let me know how yours goes.
