As of yet I don't have a Lap-Band Story. I am 48 and have struggled with my weight every since I left the USMC at the age of 27. In that time I have gained 130 pounds. Well actually it is more like 6 or 7 hundred pounds because I have been on so many yo-yo diets through the years. It used to be easy to drop 20-30 pounds in a couple months to look good for the summer, then it got harder and harder. Instead of losing 20 or 30 pounds it was 15 or so, then 10, then none.
I have Gout so losing weight always came with the side effect of gout flare ups. So that would discourage me from dieting and I would start back to eating again and it never faild I would gain back more than I would lose. I finally became satisfied that I wasn't going to be able to lose the weight and just went with the flow. Well I am tired of taking 11 different medications every day to feel some what normal. I'm tired of my knees, feet, back, and pretty much my whole body hurting all the time. I'm tired of sweating like i'm in a sauna when standing in front of and airconditioner just because I did some less than hard work.
So, after contemplating the Lap-Band pricedure for over a year, (went to a seminar last Spring) I decided I had to do something. If not for myself, for my wife of 28 years. I love her and want to be around pestering her as long as I can. Plus the added benifit of losing weight and getting healthy don't hurt.
I have my first Dr. Appt on Monday so the Journey Begins.
