Tracey...Just in case I dont get the chance to post before Thursday, I wish you lots of luck in your surgery and recovery!! You have been an inspiration to me...and I Thank You for that!! BTW....I was approved on Friday!! I'll be getting my surgery date Wednesday afternoon!! (I was so hoping to be able to "officially" join the April Bandsters, but I'll take a May date...and be greatful for it!!)

Thanks Chantay and Diane!! I just got my pre-op appointment...its for this Wednesday!! I'll know my surgery date by the next support group meeting, which is what I have been hoping for!! :clap2: Since you wont be at the meeting Chantay, I'll be sure to email you and let you know when the surgery date is!!

On a lighter note....I told my husband that after I was banded, if he wanted to eat ice cream, he could stop at the convienence store, pick up just one and eat it on the way home. Dont eat it in front of me, and dont buy any at the store and keep it in my freezer to taunt me!! LOL Seriously, the others have given some very good advice....advice that I will have my husband read tomorrow...since I am still waiting to be banded!

Papa Murphy's makes the pizzaria type pizzas, but they dont bake them. Everything in moderation!! I'm not banded yet, (waiting on insurance approval) but the way I see it, if I want a piece of pizza, and my band can tolerate it, I'm going to have it. The key is "moderation" I wont eat half the pizza like I have in the past, but a slice or even half a slice will suffice. I've got a new mantra that I keep repeating to myself..."The first bite tastes the same as the last bite" and sometimes you just need to have that taste of something to squash the cravings. For those that cant give up pizza entirely, Papa Murphy's has a pizza that you can take home and bake it yourself...its a specialty pizza that has half the carbs and calories as their normal thin crust pizza. The crust on the pizza is as thin as the cardboard backings on notebooks...you get all the flavor of the pizza with the very minimal amount of crust. (I've tried it and its really good!!) This is my product review for the week!! LOL :hungry:

I did talk with Billie yesterday, and she said they called my insurance co. to verify the proper mailing address before they sent the papers in....(Thanks Billie!!) so I'll give them a few more days to receive them...hopefully by Tuesday at the latest!

Dont quote me on the exact price, but when I went to the initial seminar for Dr. Hoehn, his nurse said the average cost of the lapband for a self-pay patient is approximately $16,200 to $16,400...I dont know if this included any follow-up care or fills. Your best bet would be to contact the office personally or register to attend one of the seminars. Ugggghhhh!!! I just called the insurance company, and they havent received any papers. Apparently, the address that is on the back of the insurance card where you send claims to isnt the right address. I called and left a message for Billie with the right address, so hopefully she has the time to make copies of all the papers and send them to the other address soon. Can insurance companies make the run-around any more difficult??

Good Late Morning Chicas!! I got a phone call from Billie last night, she wanted to let me know that she mailed the papers to the insurance company!! I'll be calling the insurance company on Friday to make sure they got the papers, if not, Billie said she would resend them. I'm so nervous now, my fingers cant type...LOL I'm hoping that by the next support group meeting, I'll have some great news to share with everyone!! Wish me luck!!

Sissy....I want to applaud you for taking an active stance on weight loss!! I wish I would have been in the position to have the lap-band done years ago, before I ballooned up to my highest weight to date. Take comfort in knowing that you are doing what's right for you, and dont let the negativity from a select few hamper your efforts at weight loss!! Now, take a deep breath and go have yourself a super-sized banana split and gain those extra pounds so you can qualify for the lap-band....you deserve it!!!

Chantay....I have all the papers into the office, now we are just waiting on all the other papers from the NUT, pulmonologist, sleep study, and psych to be sent to the office. I have Freedom Network~Construction Workers Laborers Industry insurance, and I talked with them again last week, and they said the only reason for a denial is not having all the paperwork in that they require or a BMI of 50 or over. After I explained everything to her, she said that I would be approved, and she is keeping an eye out for my papers to come into their office so she can get them processed right away for me. I left a message for Nola yesterday morning, but so far, I havent heard back from her yet, maybe today! Wow...a little over 2 weeks before your surgery!! I can understand your apprehensions about the surgery, and its perfectly normal! I dont even have a surgery date, and I find myself second guessing my decision. I just have to keep reminding myself that the complications of being over-weight are far greater than any complication I might possibly have from the lap-band. The lap band is reversible, the damage to my heart is not!!

I have refrained form posting in this thread, beacuse I am still in the "waiting game", but hoping for a May surgery date, heck...at this point, I'll be ecstatic to get a June surgery date!! I have been reading these posts daily, and saying prayers for everyone that needs them, and even for those that dont think they need them!! A woman I used to work with commented on my gaining back the weight after I had lost some, I told her I was an amnesic bulemic...I eat and eat, and forget to throw up...she never commented on my weight again!! LOL

I just had to LOL (literally!!) at this!! reminded me of the Andy Griffith show when Barney Fife needed to gain weight to qualify for Deputy. He could only wear the required uniform attire, so he exchanged his whistle chain with a 30 pound chain link necklace. It worked for Barney!! Dont know why it couldnt work with quarters!! How many times have we emptied pockets before being weighed? Just dont empty your pockets this time...and wear a necklace!! :biggrin1:

Say you dont go to the doc, and put it off a few weeks, then you gain a few more pounds, and put it off again, only to gain more....see where I'm going with this?? Grab the bull by the horns, pull yourself up by your boot straps (assuming you wear boots!!) and get into the doc before the vicious cycle starts!! You deserve this!!! :girl_hug:
