Kat...I'm sending out lots of healing prayers for your husband. I know how scary it can be, just know that you have many many people praying for your DH and also for you. When you feel alone at the hospital, just close your eyes and feel all the cyber hugs coming your way!! Please keep us updated when/if you can!

Protein Drink Mix And Ready To Drink Protein Drinks
MEW replied to JackieP12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Walmart has the Body Fortress Protein powder and its not very expensive...something like $12 per canister and it equals out to be 30 servings. Each serving of the chocolate flavor provides: Protien-23g Calories-110 Total Carbs-2g Sugars-1g The taste is a little bland, so I add 1 teaspoon of SF coffee syrup (Torani brand found in the coffee aisles at most grocery stores) The syrup has 0 carbs, 0 calories and 0 sugars. -
Nice to meet you Michelle...My husband is the same way!! He wanted to go out to dinner last night, but I had support group, so I told him to take the kids. He said he will wait until tonight so I can go...I finally had to tell him "Why do you think I got in this shape to begin with?" He just doesnt understand...but he is very supportive of the surgery. I've already started dinner so we cant go out to eat tonight...lol My doctor only wants a 2-day liquid diet pre-op...but I have been trying to lose as much weight as I can before that, to help jumpstart the weight loss after surgery. When I weighed in at my pre-op appointment Tuesday, I was down 7 pounds since I started to seriously watch what I eat, but quitting smoking at the same time has really wreaked havoc with me. About the ice cream....I dont sit and eat it all day long, one of my daily shakes I add 1/4 cup of ice cream to it to help it blend up better (1/4 cup = 60 calories and 2 carbs) and thats all I use. We actually bought it for my diabetic DH...but after reading the label, it didnt seem all that bad...lol I'd love for you to PM me your formal plan...I'm interested in all the help I can get!! Thanks!!

Please call me Mary (MEW are just my initials) and my surgery date is May 23rd...at 8:30 am!! I am trying out different protein powders, and usually have 2 shakes a day...very very low carb food as much as I can (I'd give anything for a big plate of spaghetti right now...lol) I've been eating lots of scrambled eggs and cheese omelets for breakfast, lunch meat and cheese for lunch and supper is whatever I cook for the family, just keeping it very low carb. I did find an ice cream, I'd love some feed back on it from anyone! Its Breyer's Smart Carb chocolate ice cream, its 120 calories per 1/2 cup and 4 grams of carbs, its made with Splenda and tastes wonderful! LOL Has anyone else tried it...what are your thoughts on the carbs/calories?

Is there room for one more May-Flower? I read this thread every day, sometimes ALL day and I feel at home here even though I rarely post. I did try the May thread, but there seems to be something lacking there for me....I promise I will behave, and I am potty-trained!! LOL TRACY!!! I'm glad to see you feeling so good so soon after surgery...you're my inspiration!! Thanks for taking the time to post...we have all been worried about you!! Take it easy and get some rest!! *HUGS* (BTW...I'm in Kansas City KS...and we have a Fuddruckers too!!

What's Your Favorite Type of Pet?
MEW replied to donali's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Horses!! But, not just any horses....I love the miniature horses!! So cute and cuddly. I have 2 of my own and horsey sitting another one for the summer. I just may not let the owner take her home, I may have to keep her!! LOL I also love my doggie...he's a Wire Fox Terrier (or Wire Fox Terrorist, as my husband calls him...lol) He's such an energetic, and yappy little thing...he buries his doggie bones in my plants, and under the cushions of the couch...but I wouldnt have it any other way!! -
Diane....Olathe is a bit to far for me to drive too. I'm sorry, I would have loved to join y'all. I was hoping to get to meet you at the support group meeting last night, were you there and I missed you again?
-
Chantay...so glad you are feeling up to posting!! Looking forward to hearing more about your surgery. I have psyched myself up for the surgery after pains (sutures, gas, etc) but I keep telling myself "it's a small price to pay to regain my health back"...so far it seems to be working, we'll see how I feel after surgery!! LOL 7 pounds is a great start!! Keep up the good work!!

May 23rd, 2007 ...thats when I am scheduled for lap band surgery!! That will be the day that I start my new life, a life to a healthier me!! A little about me? Well, I am 40 years old, been over-weight most of those years, I'm a wife to the most understanding and supportive husband ever, mother to 4 biological boys, 1 daughter, "Grandma" of 2 and human to several dogs, miniature horses and a cat that only comes home when she's hungry. (Spay and Neuter your roaming pets!! LOL) The lap band decision has not been an easy or quick one, I have spent several years researching all I could, weighed (pun intended) all the pros and cons, and finally came to the decision that if I wanted to see my children and grandchildren grow up, I needed to do something about my weight. In the past, I have always been able to lose the weight, but it would always come back with a vengeance!! I finally see the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel!!
-
That sounds like a very good idea Diane!! Especially now, since the next few support meetings are up in the air. If its someplace close enough that I wont have to get on the highways (a phobia of mine...lol) I'd like to join you in walking!!

I weighed 120 pounds once....in 3rd grade!!! :biggrin1:
