Sept 2011 bandsters
DawnH replied to WannaBeSlimNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Sept. 12 and 75 pounds loss would be awesome! I have only lost 42 lbs. I am happy with that but it has slowed down and mine weight loss is similar to Brynne's where as I lose a few pounds right after a fill but then it slows down. I have 8.5 cc's in a 14 cc band. I stay full longer but I can still guzzle water and I have no problem eating anything. I go back at the end of this month to see where I am at so we will see what she says. -

I hear ya Sharilo! This season is really hard! I want to do some baking but I know I will probably eat 50% of what I bake, lol. It is hard because it seems there are goodies of some sort everywhere. Don't get down on yourself just start a new day tomorrow. You have had awesome weight loss so don't beat yourself up. -

I have been able to feel mine pretty good since a few weeks out of surgery. I am 3 months out and am feeling it more the more weight I am losing. Who knows what it will feel like when I am at goal. I am sure yours is fine. -

Bromo- that is awesome! Congrats! Becky Jane- 5 lbs isn't bad and at least it was veggies you were eating more of, lol. I am stressing bit, I had to pic one of my boys up from school because he has the stomach bug . I feel bad and I am also stressing about me getting it. I have not had any episodes of throwing up and I am so scared that I will get it but of course I am taking care of him so I am around the cooties . My surgeon stitched the band to my stomach to prevent slippage but I am worried. Has anyone had any episodes of throwing up or the stomach flu? -

Tastes Changing After Lap Band Surgery ?
DawnH replied to transforming jlaroux's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The only thing that I have noticed as far as tastes changing is with Crystal Light. That used to be all I drank, not much plain water but now it is way too sweet. I just gave all my boxes away because I can't stand it. Weird.... I wasmtold that could happen but was sort of surprised. -
Why Can I Still Eat Without Getting Stuck Or Having Rectriction
DawnH replied to logie bear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in the same boat as you. I had surgery 9/12/11 and had 2 ccs at surgery and had another 2 added 6 weeks ago and have felt nothing. I know it is just because I am not at a good restriction level but it is funny how some people have a ton of restriction with 4 ccs but it doesn't do anything for me. Also, in my case I have a 14 cc band so it may take a little bit more time to get to the 'green zone'. I have my second fill tomorrow so I am curious to see how it goes after that. Good luck! -

I haven't had a problem getting anything in. I mean, there is no foods that have made me sick or anything. Granted, I have only had one fill and have my second fill on Tuesday so we shall see how I feel after that. I have 4 ccs in right now. -

Congrats Sharilo! That's awesome Bromo, I think this is a hard week to live by the lap band bible for sure! At least you are back on track. I started over today using the my fitness pal again and paying attention to the protein intake. Good luck! Texas Bandit, awesome job on the weight loss! We do a Christmas dinner. Christmas celebrations got more complicated since my daughter decided to make her entrance on Christmas Eve, lol. Glad your kidneys are doing okay and that's way cool about the biggest loser contest at work. -
Pain: Lap Band Surgery Vs C-section??
DawnH replied to kewlshort1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought the pain was similar in the getting up and down from sitting/laying down positions. As you know everyone's experiences are different. I had no gas pains from lap band but it took me a lot longer to feel back to normal. I was finally feeling 'normal' after about 3 weeks. It only took me a couple when I had the c-section and I didn't have babies to take care of because my twins were in NICU for 3 weeks. Good luck! -

Hi everyone! Seems like everyone, including me has been busy this week! How did everyone do at Thanksgiving? I did okay with the portion sizes but had about a tablespoon of almost everything. I did however eat a whole roll but I made homemade rolls so I knew they would be good. Anyways, the scale didn't mind and the band didn't mind so I don't feel too bad about Thanksgiving. I scheduled my second fill for after Thanksgiving so I have my second one on Tuesday. I wasn't thinking but my birthday is the next day, the 30th, and I guess my mom and I are not doing our traditional birthday lunch since I will be on liquids, lol. Oh well, we will just go on a later date. That is about all going on here. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! -
Almost three weeks post-op and still have port pain
DawnH replied to Kellysue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in pain there for awhile. I didn't think I would ever be able to wear jeans again, lol. Now I am a couple months out and wear jeans all the time but they are a couple sizes smaller . Seriously though I had pain there for 3 weeks or so. I went to the dr thinking for sure something had gone wrong but I am fine now. Good luck! -

Hi everyone! I am so excited I broke through the plateau I have been at for about a week and saw 187.2 on the scale this am instead of the constant 188 I have grown o hate to see on the scale. So, I started a new job today. I have not worked since I had my oldest in 1999 and now, 4 kids later, I figure it is time sor me to make a little income since they are all in school now. I got a job at The Arc of San Diego ( they have The Arc all over the US). Today was the first day of training so I packed me a lunch but had to be there at 8 so I skipped breakfast. Oh my gosh, I was so hungry today! I took a Greek yogurt and a 4 oz container of cottage cheese. By the time I got home I was starving..... I will be prepared to eat breakfast in the am for sure. I have training all this week and Monday and Tuesday of next week and im praying it is not as boring as today was. We sat at tables and went over paperwork, policies, that stuff for 8 hours. It was like watching paint dry for 8 hours..... I think the rest of the week is going to be more interactive stuff so it shouldn't be so painful, lol. Wish me luck! -
It was fun and I finished the race not at the end so that was good. I jogged some, walked some and I was satisfied because there were some active duty military even behind me . I don't get sore on the treadmill anymore but man the front of my thighs and my abs were killing me for 2 days. It was really weird how jogging on the ground versus the treadmill uses different muscles. I wasn't expecting that. Anyways, thanks so much for asking!
