I am so glad to hear I am not the only one that thinks it is hard and having 'head hunger' issues! So annoying! I am being banded on Monday and I can't wait to get this process on so I can eat real food again. I am over the pre-op diet, I need to fast forward about a month, lol.

When I had my psych eval they said they do it so they can make sure there is no underlying reason that made you gain weight, i.e. sexual abuse, something like that.
-
It got easier for me, I have been on it for a couple weeks but the past couple days I have been hungry now! I will be banded on Monday so hopefully I won't be so hungry after that
-
That's awesome! I hope you continue to feel good! When will they let you have the Protein shakes? I am hating them at this point too but I better get over it.... So you are hungry though?

The chocolate muscle milk light and the Isopure blue raspberry and green apple are my favorite. Let me know how the mango peach is. I haven't tried that or the grape. I did try the pineapple banana one and it was okay.

Oh man, the first couple days when I started I was in a horrible mood and felt like crap! I guess the blood sugar being low. I eat my 'meal' late afternoon and that helps. The fruit punch Isopure is HORRIBLE!!!! The blue raspberry and green apple are really good though. Good to add to the mix though instead of just the 'shake' consistency. Good luck!

Yay for Monday! I am on the 12th too. I can't wait. You will definitely have to post updates

Hi! I am being banded on Monday and I had to start a pre-op diet last Tuesday of 2 Protein Shakes and one 300 cal meal a day but on Sat I have to switch it over to only Clear Liquids. No more Vitamins or protein shakes just clear liquids. I am glad it is only for 2 days prior! I thought that was so funny you call it Lane Giant because so do I am people always laugh but I have never heard anyone else call it that, lol. Good luck! Next week will be a good week

It is hard but it is something I will have to get used to. The one night I made bbq shredded chicken sandwiches was torture though. I practically had to run out of the room, lol. It will pay off eventually

You will do great! The first few days were rough and want to still cook 'normal' for my family so some of the food just looks so good I end up taking my Protein drinks upstairs and drinking them in a nice bath, lol. I did learn that I do better eating my meal late afternoon instead of when my family eats because then when I cook I want to just pick at the food while I cook. It is a lot easier to cook while I am not hungry. Those are a couple tips that have worked for me. I am being banded Monday and I can't wait to get on with the process . Good luck!

My favorite's are muscle milk LIGHT and the bottled Isopure. The bottled Isopure tastes sort of like uncarbonated soda so if you aren't into the shakes or get tired of them it is good to throw those in the mix AND they are 40 grams of protein with zero carbs. Muscle milk light tastes just like regular chocolate milk. The low carb EAS are good too.

So glad you guys are doing so well! I am being banded next Monday and can't wait. I am ready to get this started! I am so bored with the pre-op diet and I know the post-op will be boring too but I am just ready to get started on my way back to 'normal' food with portion control Can't wait! I feel like this might be a really long week, lol.

Glad you are feeling better! The gas can get uncomfortable for sure but walking gets it moving. Has it been going good keeping the soup and water down?
-
Congrats, that is awesome you are doing so well! Looking forward to hearing your progress!

The 12th is my date too! Can't wait and I can't believe it is in just over a week!
-
Okay, that makes sense. Maybe that is why mine didn't say that because the liquid part of my pre-op diet is only 2 days. One thing I thought was weird on my drs liquid part was that I can have sf jello and sf popsicles but no red or purple ones. Weird.....
-
I was told no soda because of the carbonation but no where on my dr.s instructions does it say no caffeine. I get a LITTLE in with the energy crystal lights, lol. The pre-op diet that my dr gave me was very specific for 2 weeks, then 2 days before I have to do a liquid diet and on it one of the 5 things I can have is black tea or coffee. It doesn't say decaf. So many dr.s do things so different. You said you are going to try different protein shakes, my dr. said that I shouldn't buy a big quantity of protein powder or anything because your tastes can change after the surgery.

Good luck! Keep us posted!

I have never heard of a tipsy liver before...... I understard the being nervous though. I got the final clearance and pre-op stuff and when the surgeon said he will see me on the 12th it was sort of surreal. He also said my upper GI showed a hiatal hernia and he is going to fix that while he is in there so that made me a little nervous too that he is doing something else while he is in there, so I understand. It must be something minor if he said he can just fix it while he is in there. Good luck! Dawn

I hear ya! It is so frustrating when people are negative about it. My mother in law is telling me I am making a big mistake because her sister got really sick when she had her gastric bypass and I tried to explain it is totally different. She is the type that will be jealous when I am successful at it and she has had the weight battle all her adult life. The dentist a couple days ago was trying to talk me into cancelling my surgery and to try the zone diet.... really annoying but luckily there are other people who can support us. I think the negative people need to realize it is something that we are doing for ourselves and they don't live in our bodies so just to support our decisions and if they don't agree to just keep it to themselves. Good luck!

I am so sorry to hear about your fall! With determination you will make it to that appt! Maybe by tomorrow the elevator will be back up and running . This is all such a long process that I hear ya on not wanting anything to put the dates off! I did my pre-op stuff yesterday and I was so scared some lab or test or something would come back bad and I would have to postpone it. Luckily everything is all good so I am good to go! Just stay positive and you will find a way to get up there :0). Let us know how it goes! Good luck!

Thanks for the support! For the most part a have a lot of support. My mom was a little skeptical but came to a support group meeting with me and felt a lot better. My mother in law is the type of person that won't be happy just because I will be successful and she keeps on the dieting roller coaster. She doesn't get happy for anyone so I am not worried about it. Just annoying how people don't know anything about and say it is such a bad idea. I am confident in my decision and will make it work. Thanks again!

Hi fellow September bandsters! I am super excited to do all my pre-op stuff tomorrow and surgery on the 12th, 2 weeks! I am however getting annoyed at so many people that are so negative about the band... I was at the dentist and one of my molars is cracked from grinding my teeth but I told him I can't wear my night guard because of the CPAP mask I have to wear. I didn't know I had 'mild' apnea before all this testing and he was trying to sell me on the zone diet and almost begging me not to do the lap-band. Then he compared it to someone he knew that died from gastric bypass. Um, hello, not exactly the same thing but I can't really argue when my mouth is wide open for my exam, lol. My mother-in-law has been saying it is such a bad decision because, again, her sister had really bad problems after bypass! She is even telling my sis-in-law what a bad mistake I am making. Her opinion doesn't matter to me one way or the other but it is just irratating especially when you haven't done the research and don't really know what you are talking about. Have you guys run into any of those negative nellies?

Zumba is a butt kicker but makes you SWEAT! The first time I went I was 225 and it was hard but I was out there doing it A little slower than the skinnier people but I was sweating and every time gets easier. Go for it! You won't know till you try.
