Congrats to you! Doesn't it feel so good when you can have the will power to not cheat I bet you are so excited! I have till the 12th and can't wait to get there!
  2. When I asked the psych why we had to come see him he said that among other reasons 70% of women wanting the LB have gotten to that point because they had been sexually abused at some point in their lives. That weight could be a way to feel like it won't happen again so they like to make sure there aren't any underlying issues that caused the weight gain. I guess that made sense, I didn't have any weird questionaires I had to fill out......

The Isopure I am talking about comes in bottles, not powdered and they are more like uncarbonated soda. That's the easiest way to describe them I guess . It is the only ones I have found not like a shake.

The bottles of Isopure don't have any carbs and are 40 grams of Protein and 160 calories. They are a pretty good size. The are like fruit flavors not a shake but they are sort of pricey. I think $2.99 a bottle. I haven't tried the powder Isopure but the bottled ones are nice to mix in with drinking shakes too. I like the apple melon and the blue raspberry but the alpine punch was horrible. Also, EAS Myoplex (I think that is the brand) makes a low carb ready to drink. It is an okay taste too. Good luck!

I am so excited! I am no longer penciled in for the 12th I am on the surgery schedule! I have my pre-op appt on Tuesday with the surgeon and meet with anesthesia that afternoon. I can't wait to get this 'pre-band' stuff over with. It will be cool to have a group of people going through this together!

I am so scared about that! I told my dr and he said, "well, keep the weight off a year and we will bring you in for a tummy tuck". I have had 3 pregnancies and my last was a twin preg so who knows what my stomach is going to look like! I right now weigh exactly what I did when I delivered my twins! That is horrible, lol. A shar pei is probably an accurate description

Hi all! I am on the pre-op diet now and will be banded Sept. 12th (well it's in pencil). I started the pre-op diet to help get the last 5 lbs off that I needed to lose before getting my date. I went back to the dr. yesterday and have lost 7 lbs in the last week so she put me in the computer for the 12th and I am just waiting for the NP to call Mon/Tues with the confirmation. I am so excited, it has been such a long procedure! I had a checklist of about 20 things I had to cross off, classes, tests, appts, etc before getting to this point and the checklist is finally done! The first couple days of the pre-op diet were really hard. I was irritable, I felt bad because I could tell my body needed food but literally daily the scale has been going down and now I feel like my body has adjusted to the small amount of food. I think it is getting easier because the beginning of the skinnier me is in my sights now . I have lost 10 pounds since my initial appt May 31st so I am excited! I look forward to hearing everyones success stories!

    August 2011 Bandsters????

My pre-op diet is 2 weeks and I can only have the 2 protein shakes a day and one meal a day. It has been hard but I am on day 7 so it is getting easier. I just wish my stomach matched what I am eating, lol.
  10. Like the others said it sounds like they have some backwards practices and I would try to find another doctor. My hubby is Navy so I am primarily going to the Naval Hospital but they did refer me out for the sleep study. When the one hospital called to schedule the sleep study they were booking for 2 months out. I wanted to get in sooner so they just gave me a list of other Tricare drs I could go to and I called, made the appt. and they faxed the referral over to them. How frustrating for you! I hope there is someone else you can choose from. Good Luck!
  11. Mine is only 2 weeks of 2 protein shakes a day, one 300 cal meal, veggies when I wanted and water or crystal light.
  12. I also met my surgeon on the first visit. Reading these forums though it seems like each person's dr. has a different way of doing things.
  13. When I had my gallbladder out I was told to expect shoulder pain from the gases used but they told me same thing as mentioned above, that the walking helped, and I did that and didn't have any shoulder pain. I will be walking again
  14. I wondered why I had to do the sleep study too but dr. said it was because of the recovery like someone above mentioned. At my hosp they keep you in a recovery room overnight where there are 2 patients to 1 nurse so I am good with that. I didn't know I had sleep apnea, I now know I do. Mine is pretty mild but WHEN I leave the machine on all night I wake up feeling so much better. I wake up with the mask on top of my machine a lot though. Maybe one day I will get used to leaving it on all night every night

    excess skin & excercise

I am not sure how easy it would be to get a referral to go to a civilian dr to have it done for cosmetic purposes but they do it at the Naval hospital here. I am 99% sure I will have to have some work on my stomach, 4 kids and one preg was a twin preg, the stomach is not going to be pretty!
  16. My dr. said they make you do the sleep apnea study because if you do have sleep apnea you have to be monitored more closely in the recovery room. That's the only thing I was told about it.

My husband is in the Navy and our insurance covers it

I think they do it really low.

No using the weights are a good thing to do for the skin. I am not scared to get it, after a c-sec, my gallbladder removed and then the band, whats one more, lol.
  20. I have never heard of doing a sleep study at home. There are a ton of wires that have to be hooked up I can't imagine it would be very accurate not having them on. I had mine done at American Sleep Medicine which I know is nationwide and their facility was comfortable as far as privacy and beds go. The sleep study was by far the worst part of all the pre-op stuff however I did find out I have sleep apnea and since I now have a cpap machine I wake up so much more refreshed and alert. Good luck!

    excess skin & excercise

I am done with all my pre-op stuff and meet with the dr. next week to get my surgery date and I am so excited. I am also scared to see what my skin does when I lose weight! I have had 4 kids and my last pregnancy was a twin pregnancy and I never lost the weight after that. I actually weigh what I did when I DELIVERED my twins, sad to say. Anyways, my dr just said once I keep my weight off a year I can just have the plastic surgery done. It is all covered by insurance so I guess we wait and see. The dr. did say weights would be crucial for the skin elasticity. He also said if you are diabetic (which I am not) that can make your skin less elastic. Good luck!
  22. I am on day 6 of my pre-op and have lost 5 lbs so far. It is getting easier as the days go by. My pre-op consists of 2 protein shakes a day and one 300 cal low fat meal. I can eat a prepared frozen meal from lean cuisine, smart ones, or healthy choice and add a big salad with fat free dressing. I can also snack on veggies if I get hungry. Lots of water or crystal light and 30 mins of exercise 5 days a week. So far so good!
