    October Bandsters!!!

Hello fellow bandster's!! I had my 2nd follow up with my Dr. today. Down 11 lbs in 1 month!!! Yayyy! he says I'm right on track, even though I feel like I should be losing more! My last fill was Nov 22nd, he filled me to 4 cc's. i convinced him to tweak it a little bit, which he did. I know have 5 cc's in my band. I just wasn't feeling like I had that much restriction, if I let myself I could really chow down!! Hopefully now i'll have more restriction. Also, I really noticed a hugh difference in my clothes fitiing, I've gone down 2 sizes!! I wish I could say it is all with the help of the band, but its definatly more in our minds, eating the right things and exercising are and will always be the key to our success!! I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy, HEALTHY, New Year!!!

    October Bandsters!!!

Ok fellow bandsters, I need help!! I was banded on October 19, 2011. I had my first fill on Nov 22nd. Since then, I am having such a hard time eating, nothing seems to want to go down. My Dr. filled my 12cc band with 4 cc of saline, not much I thought... My progress has been great, losing about 1-2 lbs. a week( wish it was more). I'v started exercising! Wootwoot!! But I can honestly only eat a few bites, then regurgatate EVERYTHING! Any suggestions

    October Bandsters!!!

Well, after hitting rock bottom yesterday with completely falling off the "Band Wagon" and eating everything in sight.. I was so miserable and felt horrible and was scared that I stretched out my band. I made a full recovery today!! I'm back on track, staying on liquids until my first fill and I am definitely NEVER doing that again!!! Thanks to everyone for their words of encouragement:)

    Post Op appt today!

Well Guys!! I made it. I was banded last week, 10/19. The day after the surgery I though to myself what the Hell did I do to myself!! That thought soon passed after having lost 11 lbs. since last Wednesday. I fell good for the most part, still a bit sore, the Doc says that its mainly from the Hiatal Hernia. I still have another 10 days to go on the liquid diet, that's getting kind of old. If anyone has any suggestions for liquids, I'd love to hear it. I get my 1st fill November 22nd. Just in time for Thanksgiving!! The only issue I seem to be still having is a lot of belching and gas. Is anyone experiencing that too? Good luck to all

    coughing 3 days post op

I don't think a slip would occur from coughing. I have really bad allergies and cough a lot, my Dr advised that I hold a pillow up against my stomach when I cough to support it, it helps me tons.Good Luck!

    weight requirement

The best bet would be to call your insurance and see what they cover. As far as your overall health. The guidelines for Lap-band are at least 100 lbs overweight or Bmi over 40. Or BMI over 35 with 1 or more qualifying conditions such as HPB, Diabetes, etc.. So you ma be a candidate. Word to the wise, start working on your Physician monitored diet program. Most Insurances require 3 to 6 mos of Physician monitored dieting. Hope that helps! Good Luck to you

    October Bandsters!!!

Congrats! I was banded on 10/19. I too am very itchy. They used steri-strips on me, and I think it's the glue from the strips that are making me itch. You're so lucky to be on mushies!! I have to wait 17 days! 10 days to go.. I can't sleep on my stomach yet either. Great job on your weight loss so far:) What ate you eating for mushies?

    October Bandsters!!!

Hello Everyone! I was banded on Oct 19th. Feeling much better as the days go by, minimal pain right now, but experiencing tons of gas. I am having to pretty much force fluids down, I am drinking al the protein and fluids I am required to do, but I have no desire to eat. Its an interesting feeling. Hope this gas goes away soon, I'm planning on going back to Work on Monday, could be quite embarrasing!
  15. Feeling much better today!! yesterday I really questioned myself and said "What the Hell did I do", glad that feeling passed!

  16. My Surgery day was October 19th!! Two days ago, finally! I was told to be at the hospital at 9am, for an 11:30 am start time. When I arrived I was told that my surgeon had an unexpected emergency that he was dealing with. Long story short, I was waiting until 2pm, before getting prepped for surgery. The wait was a little nerve racking, but I was able to relax a bit longer. They took me in the OR at about 3pm, and I woke up at 4:15. There was some discomfort, also they repaired a hiatal hernia on me. After about an hour in recovery, they brought me back up to my room, and wanted me to walk!! I asked them if they were crazy, they said the sooner you walk the sooner you can go home. I got up and almost threw up, I was so nauseated. Long story short, the nausea finally ran its course. I feel like a million bucks today! Only day 2, incisions are still sore, defiantly still have some gas pains, but all tolerable. I am forcing myself to get the required fluids and protein in, but I am just not hungary at all. I've never had to force anything down, so its quite a change already. I know there is some swelling still, but am looking so forward to the next chapter in my life!! Good Luck to all of you
  17. There is a support group the last Tuesday of every month at Morton Plant North Bay Hospital at 6pm. I lost about 10lbs on the pre-op diet!! Basically, little carbs, lots of protein. So I had surgery on Wednesday... Let me tell you, a bit more pain than what I had expected. Although its only Friday, and I'm feeling much better. I have no appitite at all, and am forcing myself to drink

  18. 7 more days till surgery!!! So excited, but nervous too!

  19. Thank You!! Have not had the surgery yet, going thru the process.
