Pain Left Lower Abdoman 3 Days Post Lap Band Surgery
leepfrog replied to twi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Happy Holidays! The first few days are not pleasant, that's for sure. For my pain, I drank a lot of water, and walked around the house as much as possible. I also was wearing my CPAP which created a lot of pressure in my stomache. I went to the doctor and they reduced the pressure. I also put a pillow under my knees. That is what worked for me Best of luck to you! -
No Weight Loss Since Lap Band Surgery (july 11)
leepfrog replied to Daelynn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi! I hope your foot is feeling better! How many calories are you eating? Most of us are at about 1200 calories. I use My Fitness Pal a lot! My user name is Leepfrog, look me up and friend me!! This is not only keeping me honest with what I am putting in my mouth, but also making me aware of the high calorie foods I was oblivious to. I follow Eat This, Not That on Twitter to get some helpful hints throughout the day which is helpful, too. Are you grazing? If so, STOP! The band works if you eat meals and chew well. Bread and rice are typical problem foods with the band~I have just eliminated them. Water is a must!! Learn to LOVE IT! Our bodies are made of mostly water, and if you are not replenishing it, you are doing more harm than good! Good Luck!! -
I kept reading about My Fitness Pal and thought ok...ok....Well, I finally joined and, If you haven't already, YOU SHOULD!! Not only does it keep you accountable throughout your day, it helps to see what you can do to keep the weight coming off! I had a really strong start being banded on 8/17. Then as predicted the weight just wasn't coming off as easy while I was doing the the same things. I thought this was just the process. I found out by entering my exercise and goals to loose that I wasn't eating enough calories. In less than a week I am already seeing the benefits of this great tool! You can use on your PC as well as an app on your DROID/APPLE device. HOW CONVENIENT!! It is super easy too! Thank You to all who have been promoting this and convincing me My name is leepfrog on there if you want to friend me Good Luck to EVERYONE! We all know this is not an easy road, but together, WE CAN DO IT!!

I agree. I am newly banded and have found that going sugar free/fat free is the way to go. If I have the urge to snack, I drink a glass/bottle of water and ask myself, am I really hungry, or do I just think I am hungry. If I am unsure, I ask myself why did I get the band again? This helps me stay motivated to make the right choices, cottage cheese instead of chips. If I am still on edge, I look at this website and see all the progress everyone has made and think, "I CAN DO THIS!" I have motivated my husband and now we are in a little competition to make it fun PS I'm winning -
It is a free app "My Lapband" is how it came up on my Droid. Hope this helps!

Hi! I had the same issue. Check with your gynocologist or any other specialist. They can send your weight, too Good Luck! -
Hi! I read on here about mixing fat free refried Beans and taco seasoning. top with low fat shredded cheese and lowfat sour cream. That is AWESOME! It is definately my favorite post band recipe and the best thing is it is soooo filling!! There are also recipes others post on the first page, click Lapband Talk Forums at the top of this page, and under food and nutrition. GOOD LUCK!!

I can't believe I am saying this, BUT I don't miss Fast Food!

I agree with what everyone else said Walk a lot and constently sip Water. Another point is if you have a CPAP/BPAP machine to check with your PCP and have your pressure adjusted. Within the first few days of surgery, I was able to get my pressure reduced by 3 points. That caused me the most grief with my stomach pain.

When did your bandages/tape come off?
leepfrog replied to JonMon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I waited a little over 2 weeks since they were still stuck pretty good. My doctor's office said that was sufficient based on my healing. They also had a great suggestion~ Take them off in the shower so the adhesive is easier to peal off with less pain! I hope all goes well for you! -
That is fantastic! Great Job!!
-
Way to go!!! Great results!! Keep up the Great Work!!!

Hi! Everyone is obviously different and you want to follow doctors orders..but.... I was on a liquid diet for 5days pre op, then 1 week post. I was really strict with the diet surprising myself honestly When I went for my follow up I was told that I was healing so well, that I can start creamy Soups right away and they gave me a loose deadline as to when to progess my diet telling me to trust my body. Like others said, each doctor is suggesting different diets for each of their patients. The liquid diet prior to surgery is contingent on BMI I found out. I have had different questions that I wanted my doctor to answer, and I have called them. That's what they are there for! I would rather be safe than sorry! Good Luck!
-
Thank You! You will do great!! It's all mental! PS, I never knew how many food commercials there were until I was on the liquid diet~Just cruel!! I have to turn the station every time!!

Thank You!!

When will I feel normal??
leepfrog replied to pinagul0tta's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! I was banded on 8/17. Today was the first day I woke up and didn't think about the pain, which I think is a step in the right direction. I have done a lot of walking and sipping on Water. I did notice that I did have heartburn when I went to bed last night. I have to still sleep on my back with pillows under my knees. I hope you feel better soon! This has to be worth it! -
Hey! Erin here Great idea for the post! I am 33yrs old Married 2 kids ages 9 and 10 I was banded on 8/17. I had a 5 day liquid diet prior to surgery and as of this morning down 12lbs!

Problems with Constipation - prior to surgery
leepfrog replied to YolandaSready's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi! Have you tried drinking fruit juices? That sometimes can help. You can try regular strength 1/2 water 1/2 juice or sugar free juice. Not more than 2 cups a day, though.
