  1. Well, I am now 4days since I have been banded. I have not been hungry at all. I have had the gas rumblings which at first I thought were hungar pangs, but I realized, I am not hungry! I have been strict with the liquid diet using sugar free Jello as my lunch/dinner. I used to be able to eat 2 cups without a thought. I can now only eat a spoon full (slowly) and feel satisfied. My biggest challenge through the process at this time is figuring out if I am really hungry or if I only THINK I am hungry. I am constantly sipping on liquids, popsicles and broth and so far I am down 12lbs~ and feeling satisfied!! I have more energy believe it or not. I am still taking pain meds, but instead of every 4 hrs, maybe 3xs a day ( when I wake up, late afternoon and bedtime). I don't have too much pain except when I lay down to rest. Something I was shocked about was right after surgery moving to recovery. I had A LOT of pain, but they got my pain meds connected and it went from a level 9-10 to a 2 in minutes. I am absolutely glad I researched my doctor and am absolutely happy with the care I received at the hospital. They were so accomadating and I didn't feel like I was bothering the nurses at all. In fact, they were part of my cheering section

Hi! I was just banded on 8/17! My primary insurance denied me due to the contractual obligations with my employer. I have a secondary insurance through my husband that luckily approved me. If your insurance does deny you, you can always submit a grievance, how long that will take, I am not sure. I was more nervous about the liquid diet leading up to the surgery than the surgery it's self! When I was in the pre op room, that's when the nerves really started and I realized~ This is going to happen! I am still in a little pain, but just remember to walk and sip, the sooner the better! Also, take advantage of your pain meds. These were prescribed for a reason Good Luck!
  3. I need a support group ... Hi! I was just banded on Weds. I haven't had surgery except for my wisdom teeth. Needless to say the closer the surgery got on Weds, the more nervous I got! Everyone was so nice and put me at ease. By the time my IV was going and I spoke to the doctors, I was ready to go. When I woke up from surgery, I had really bad heartburn, but they said that was normal. They started my pain meds and I was feeling great! I was walking that night and a bunch the next day. After my GI test, I was sipping liquids and walking like crazy so I could go home. I live in PA and the ride home was rough with all the bumps! When I feel asleep in my own bed my belly felt a little stretched. when I woke up in the middle of the night, it really hurt! I took my pain meds and put a pillow under my knees, making sure I keep my feet moving as much as possible. When I woke up for good on Friday, I feel some pain, but I am sipping and walking around the house to help get things back to normal. You will do great! It's all mental right now
  4. Hi! Surgery is tomorrow, quite excited I must say with a little nervousness! Does anyone have any suggestions to protein shakes? I have tried just about all of them and can not drink them. Suggestions?
