Baked snap peas or sweet potato chips r a nice alternative.

Personally. I love silk vanilla unsweetened almond milk. Especially for shakes it's the perfect viscosity without too many cals/carbs/sugar.

Some people are just so rude even on this thread. Smh. Why the f would u want to look sickly? Dumb.

I make protein hot chocolate or protein cap For the hot chocolate I use vanilla unsweetened almond milk and scoop of chocolate protein powder just enough to mix with no lumps then I add hot water. For the protein cappuccino I used syntax nectar cappuccino flavor and do the same thing and add my liquid creamer then I pour a decaf k cup over it.

You can go direct to the Quest website they offer a sample pack also. I got mine this time from GNC when they were having a really good sale. It was >$19 for the box of 12.

I just tried the chocolate chip cookie dough. Mmm so delicious. I put half the bar in the microwave and it did taste like a cookie.! Yum

I was always hot and sweaty took me so long to cool off after entering buildings. That was before surgery. Now I'm as cold as a fridge. I always bring a jacket and my fingers are like icicles. My surgeon says it's quite normal I really thought I had anemia for a while.

Psh forget them. That's what ppl were telling me too. They shut up now that I lost all that weight lol. No one really even brings it up anymore.

I know most people or carb crazy but will I ever be able to eat a sandwich again?

I'm 18 months post op and I still can't eat a whole 6 in sub from subway. Too much bread in it. I could probably eat 1/3 of it if I pick off some bread. I love bread but it fills me up so fast sometimes I'd rather pick through and eat more meat first so I won't be uncomfortable. -
Just putting it out there, so 'dirty' little secrets may see the light of day!

Right after I had my baby 3 months ago I would wake up and eat "lactation cookies" probably 6 in the course of the night bc I was waking up every 2 hours to feed her. I tried to downplay it to myself cuz they were "lactation" but really it was still butter sugar and flour with some lactation supplement in there lol. Also I lived off Quaker chewy granola bars at one point I was eating about 6 a day too. I can't even begin to bring out my skeletons from when I was pregnant lol. That is a whole diff story. -
For the cake 2 tbsp oat flour (ground up old fashioned oats) 1/2 scoop vanilla whey Protein powder 1/2 mashed ripe banana 3 tbsp liquid egg white / or 1 egg 1/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk 1 tbsp Greek yogurt 1 packet sweetener 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/4 cup frozen sliced strawberries thawed out For the cream topping 2 tbsp Greek yogurt 1/4 tsp vanilla 1 tbsp unsweetened van almond milk 1 packet sweetener Combine all cake ingredients except strawberries until smooth *Tip. Use very large mug Fold strawberries into cake batter Microwave 2.5 minutes Let cool while you prepare topping This makes 2 serving Nutrition per myfitnesspal (1 serving) Calories 138 Carbs 14g Sugars 6g Protein 14g Super moist, delicious, and guilt free Edit. I used 4 fresh strawberries cut up for the cake. And also some cut up strawberries and bananas for topping. So much better than frozen

I've been thinking about quitting using Splenda. I use at least 10 packets a day easy. I do it because especially in my coffee I like it sweet and I don't want to add 2 tbsp sugar for every cup. I looked at agave nectar the other day but it had carbs and sugar in it I believe. If I use it multiple times a day seems like that would add up to be unhealthy right? That's why I haven't switched but to be honest I want to find an alternative just because of the hype.

People said that to me right after I lost the bulk of my weight. I think it's because our bodies are still readjusting to the new weight.

I made my own. I have a nutribullet blender I just put about 3 tbsp old fashioned oats in there and ground it up. Equals about 2 tbsp oat flour.

I'm 18 months post op with a healthy 2.5 month old girl. She is very happily Breastfeeding still. Thank goodness! It's not easy to get all the calories I need in while still keeping it healthy but it's doable. Just have a support system and maybe someone to bring u healthy food lol. I think the first week after surgery I lived off of granola bars-not good. Now that she is sleeping a little more I actually have time to go to the grocery store and cook food lol. Good luck!

Those of you that experienced hair loss: How did you deal with it?
Leederz replied to Daydra's topic in The Gals' Room
In hindsight of course my health is above my hair but at 6 months post op and chunks of hair everywhere clogging up my drain and crying in the shower it was horrible. Thank god I had somewhat thick curly hair so it wasn't much noticeable to others. My advice would be try n get ur Protein and Water so important but also difficult in the beginning. Take all ur supplements plus Biotin. Keep ur style low maintenance. Try not to manipulate ur hair as much. Now that I'm 18 months post op with a 3 month old my hair did grow back but I'm seeing the shedding again probably from pregnancy. I'm doing more "pre-pooing" which is basically a hot oil treatment before you was ur hair. I use organic unrefined coconut oil for that. It makes ur hair more shiny so u will not have to use as much product. Then I also deep condition and leave some leave-in conditioner in my hair. I try to do styles that last more than a day to avoid excess washing. Also keeping hair trimmed so remaining hair is healthy is also key. My routine will probably change now that I'm going back to hitting the gym but I will always try n keep those basic keys in mind. Water water water. -
It's all trial and error really. I noticed I'm more in tune with my body though, it will definitely let you know if you eat something that doesn't agree with you.
-
I never thought of heating them what a great idea.
-
Honestly that's a loaded question because it's going to be different for everyone. You should talk with ur nutritionist or doc. Obviously u can't eat the same amount of calories as someone who has been sleeved 12 months. I'm 18 months post op and eat between 1600-1800. Seems like a lot but I'm breast feeding. So like I said ur caloric intake should be catered to u in ur circumstance.

whats the deal with sugar free post op?
Leederz replied to Heather Meyer's topic in Food and Nutrition
When you compare products that are regular and sugar free. The sugar free version is more than likely going to be unhealthy in some other way to make up for the taste. More fat or carbs. That's just my opinion. I try to avoid sugar because it gives me the slimes if I eat something too sugary. I do eat sugar free pudding mix in my protein shakes to mix it up a bit I love that. -
Oh and btw there's also a forum dedicated to vsg and pregnancy

Well I'm 18 months post op. Got pregnant 6 months after being sleeved. Was 267 went down to 142 when I found out I was prego. My baby is almost 3 months now. Throughout pregnancy I gained 25 lbs and so far I've lost 10. I'm just now getting back on track and eating right. It's difficult keeping up with calories for breast feeding but it's doable. I'm not worried about the last 15 lbs either I know it's going to come off.

I have a bullet and I love it. I make shakes for mean hubby daily. Plus it does other kitchen work too that helps with cooking
