7 Hours Until Surgery!
Leederz replied to Prettygemini79's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will do great, just keep thinking positive and try to stay busy. The last few hours are the worst I know, I didnt even sleep the night before. Keep a strong support system and just know that you are gonna get through this! I wish you all the best health and happiness, hope you have a speedy recovery. -
Have you tried doing arm circles? Its just sticking your arms straight out on your sides with your fingers pointed out and moving your arms in circles. You can do big circles then small front to back. Maybe doing those a couple times a day would help? Good luck and congrats on the weight loss!

Nausea, Nausea, Nausea
Leederz replied to AliveAgain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you asked your doc about anti nausea meds? Sometimes I get the nausea feeling at night bc I feel like I ate/drank too much throughout the day even though Im only at like 500 calories....but I take ondansetron disintegrating tablets and it knocks it right out within 15 minutes. Maybe that would be an option to talk to your doc about? -
Thanks I totally agree, I drank some V8 fusion peach mango today that is 100% fruit and veggies, and it was yummy too.

I've been trying and trying and it seems impossible. I have found this peter pan natural Peanut Butter though, for 1 tblspn its 105 cal, 3g carbs, 2g sugar, 4g Protein. So not only are the carbs and sugar low but you get 4g of protein and 105 calories. I've been adding a 1/2 teaspoon to my shakes in the morning and night. If you heat it in the microwave for like 20 seconds it comes out thin and its much easier to get down too!

Eating And Drinking. At The Same Time?
Leederz replied to Harmonic15's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
In short, your stomach is muscle and the pyloric valve connects the stomach to the small intestine. When you eat and drink at the same time you stimulate the pyloric sphincter to open which in turn empties your stomach so that you can eat more. So basically when you drink and eat you turn the switch on to let more food pass and you dont get the true sensation of being "full", you don't want this because you can start eating more and you can get the cues from your body mixed up. -
I feel relieved to know that Im not the only one with a problem getting things down. Im 2 weeks post op today and my dad is getting on me so hard that Im not eating enough calories. I go to school and its so straining on me I can barely come home and do my homework and studying, he is convinced its because I dont eat enough. I manage to get down 3 protein shakes a day 2 of which have some lactose free milk which adds some calories but Im at about 90g protein a day but less than 500 calories sometimes. I try to do a couple spoons of mashed refried beans, natural no sugar added peanut butter, or unsweetened applesauce. Those things get old fast. Im so tired of protein it took me 4 hours to drink my morning shake! Does anyone know of any good soups that are low in carbs and sugar? Or even something I can put in the blender thats not a "cream" soup. Those are too dense for some reason and they hurt going down. Thanx =P

I had my surgery on march 1st so I'm almost 2 weeks post up. I have lost 15 lbs since surgery and 50 since I started on my weight loss journey in Jan 2011. When I went back to class from spring break someone said to me "Wow ur face is really slimming up" and I've also been getting so many compliments from ppl I haven't seen. I can slowly see the change in my face and body and I'm just super excited. Those little things, like comments from ppl or a glance in the mirror as you pass by feel soo good! Throughout the day I genuinely feel just more happy overall. I'm so glad I took this journey and even though it's just the start it feels so good. Just wanted to share. You guys are so inspirational and uplifting for me

I'm one week out and the nurse cleared me for all exercise just no heavy lifting. For now I just walk about an hour to an hour and a half everyday. 15-45 min here and there. I'm thinking of adding more cardio and toning in but from what y'all are saying maybe its better to take it slow. My belly button site still hurts also. :/

Protein Shakes What Do U Like
Leederz replied to Tamig078's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also got the syntrax sampler pack, which combos are good as far as flavors to mix. I tried the apple ecstacy with 4 oz apple juice 4 oz water and it was pretty painful to get down. I dont know what flavors would mix well. -

I just had my surgery only a week ago but I know all nut's and docs are diff. My nut sheet says 3 meals and snacks in between. Right now I'm just trying to get in liquids and protein but as long as u keep ur levels under control I don't see why 6 small meals would be so bad. Are you drinking with ur meals? I know they say that can stall weight loss too. Hope all is well!

Protein Shakes What Do U Like
Leederz replied to Tamig078's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love body fortress brand. They have a whey isolate in vanilla with 30 g of protein in one scoop. Also they have cookies and cream and chocolate peanut butter protein with 26 g protein per scoop. I use 4 oz of lactose free fat free milk which adds a little more protein but I can get 60+ g of protein in 2 six oz shakes I think that's great. They taste amazing and best thing the isolate is only $22 and the reg whey is only $15! All at walmart. They have more flavors like strawberry, and chocolate but I haven't tried them yet. -
Holy Unbelievable Pain!
Leederz replied to brandymarie81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im on full liquids as well and I tried eating some cream soups they did not agree with me either. I will try again next week. Everyone is different we probably just need to give our tummies a little more time to adjust before we feed them thick liquids. I'm trying new recipes with broth. -

No problem, honestly that was my main concern because I consider myself to have a very low pain tolerance but Im about 5 days out and have little to no pain mainly just some minor discomfort. I was so surprised to heal quickly but Im strictly sticking to doctors orders, make sure u sip sip sip all day on Water and go for walks every 2 hours. At first its hard to get up or down but within 2 days or so it gets easier and the more you do the better you feel =) I cant wait for everyone else to get their sleeve Im so excited you guys are going to love it <3
