    Foods you cant have again

I'm 18 months post op and 1 beer gets me tipsy. I used to drink heavily on occasion but now I just avoid it. Sugary drinks are just too much too.
  2. Thanx for all the posts. I'm trying to get back in the swing of things and not beat myself up anymore. I feel like I'm having nightmares of returning to my old weight but that's just my mind playing tricks on me.
  3. I had my sleeve surgery 3/2012. Within 6 months I lost 125 lbs and was down to my goal weight of 140. Within weeks I found out I was pregnant. Fast forward to now and I have a healthy 2 month old whom I am breastfeeding. My current weight is 165. My problem. I've gone totally haywire and I feel like I've forgotten the essentials necessary. I still want to breastfeed so I know I can't restrict myself too much. But I'm just eating anything and everything and I have been binging. While I was pregnant I let myself eat how I wanted because before my pregnancy I was over restrictive to the point where I put my health at risk. Anyone have any suggestions tips or anything to help me get back to the basics. Keeping in mind I still want to breastfeed. I feel out of control right now and this is a very scary place for me to be in.
  4. I'm 18 months post up and I just have birth 2.5 months ago. I'm breastfeeding as well and I feel like all the rules are gone too. It's so crazy cuz right after surgery I never felt hungry but now breastfeeding makes me famished. I feel like I'm eating more than when I was pregnant! I gained 25 lbs while pregnant and I've only lost 3. I think it's cuz I'm eating so much.
  5. Seeing all these lists reminds me of why I had my surgery. Seems like such a long time ago I was tormented with all of these things. Life is so much simpler now. I will not miss those feelings associated with being obese and the social stigma related to it either.

    heartburn after two years?

I'm a little over 18 months post op and I can tell the next day if I didn't take my heartburn meds. I stopped taking meds after 6 months but then I got pregnant and needed it cuz the heartburn was so horrible. Now that baby is here I still have heartburn. I guess I will have to continue with the meds for life.
  7. Im 9 months post op and about 10 weeks pregnant. What a shock to me considering Ive been told my whole life I would not be able to have children because of my PCOS. I got down to my goal weight of 142 and a couple days later found out Im pregnant. Im totally fine with that I know I can get back down to the weight I want eventually. My question is with proper nutrition during pregnancy. I still am eating a very small portion...I cant even finish a kids meal in 2 sittings. I stopped drinking my Protein shakes because Im afraid that they could harm the baby. Everytime I eat a couple of bites my stomache starts to hurt terribly. Has anyone else dealt with anything like this? Any suggestions? I just want to make sure Im eating healthy enough for two. Thanks for any respones.
  8. Thanx so much for this advice. I have an appointment with my gastro doctor tomorrow and Im going to try and go over all my questions with him. The reasons I stopped drinking my shakes is because on the bottle it says contact ur doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and I was reading online that a lot of protein powders contain chemicals and other substances that can be harmful to an unborn child because they are not regulated by the FDA. Im switching to a new high risk doctor but my appointment is not until another couple of weeks so hopefully using this advise as well as my others will give me the tips I need. Whenever I eat about 4 bites my stomach just has that full feeling like I cant eat anymore and I try to force it a little because I know the baby needs nutrtiion but thats when the feeling comes where Im just miserable. I feel like I should be able to eat a little more than that being 9 months post op now.
  9. I'm almost 3 months post up. I mostly get all my protein in but I struggle with the 8 cups of water. I probably do about 4-6 cups daily not including my shakes. I take my acid reflux medicine daily. My throat has been sore for about 3 weeks now. It hurts to swallow and it just feels really tight. I went to my regular doc she basically did a strep test but everything came back fine. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any tips or suggestions anything at all to help. I'm desperate. Thank u.

    Protein?

One tip to keep your shakes cold. I have these ice cubes that are basically plastic and u freeze them they keep drinks cold after 2-3 hours being out the fridge and they dont water down your drinks. I got mine at Rite Aid pharmacy but I think they also have them at Wal Mart too

    Something "crunchy" To Snack On...

These are sooo good, only .5g carbs and 3g Protein per serving! Tip: I usually only put them in the micro. for 35 sec tho, its trial and error Crispy cheese Crackers Ingredients: Deluxe American cheese slices (not cheese food or cheese product) Directions: Cut one square of cheese into 16 tiny squares. Arrange on a sheet of parchment paper in somewhat of a ring around the edges of the paper. Don't place the cheese squares too close together or they'll stick to each other. Don't place any in the center of the paper or they will burn before the outer squares are done. Carefully place the sheet of parchment on the tray of a microwave oven. Microwave on HIGH about 65 seconds, or until the crackers are well-browned, but not burnt. Watch closely and add more time if needed. Remove the parchment from microwave and let the crackers cool slightly before removing them from the paper. Peel them off the paper and store in an airtight container. Repeat this process one cheese slice at a time. These will keep quite well in an air-tight container at room temperature for several days or longer. Each slice of cheese makes 16 crackers Can be frozen Per Serving (16 crackers): 106 Calories; 9g Fat; 6g Protein; .5g Carbohydrate; 0g Fiber; .5g Net Carbs
  12. Right after surgery I like the low calorie gatorades they went down pretty well, my surgeon said anything that helped me get water in was good
  13. I'm natural but I would recommend staying away from heat and chemicals for a while. I had super thick hair and it's falling out even with me taking extra good care of it. I couldn't imagine the relaxers damage. Maybe try braiding/weaves/wigs for the time being? It might not be ideal but u can take better care of ur tresses while they're in protective styles.

    Fake Ice Cream

So I ordered an ice cream maker to make Protein ice cream from the egg face website, and while I await that my dad made a new creation I thought I'd share. I'm currently on full liquids 2 tspns low fat sour cream 3 tblspns fat free whipped topping Mix and freeze We had some frozen strawberries we packaged ourselves. He was letting some thaw for him and we used some of the natural juices strained out. Maybe like a teaspoon if that. I couldn't get through the whole thing but mm it was delicious. The best part is that right when it hits it tongue it instantly melts. Hope u enjoy

    Fruit Cravings?

    Stalled!

I had surgery 3-1 and my doc/nutritionist have me at 800-1000 calories a day. Most days I can barely get in 600 calories but I try and make sure I do the 60g protein daily even if it takes me 3 hrs to drink those stupid shakes. It's normal to stall tho I'm about 3 months out and I've stalled about 3 times. Sometimes for 3-4 weeks at a time. Just keep doing the proteins, vitamins/meds they give u, and a lil bit of exercise or moving around. U will get out of ur stall soon.

    Fruit Cravings?

Anybody else hesitant to eat fruit because of the carb and sugar content? Sometimes I want to but I feel so bad to have carbs/sugar. :/

    Fruit Cravings?

I usually have 4 oz or so of v8 fusion whenever I have a fruit craving. It has a veggies and fruit in it so a lil more nutritious than just plain juice but it's also really good.

    Suggestions

How do u make it into a slushie? When I mix protein in the blender it just gets frothy.
  21. I love propel. I also like the Lipton diet citrus green tea. I use Hawaiian punch flavor packets I get them from the dollar store or the diet snapple packets they're awesome. Also for my Protein shakes they have yoohoo flavor packets too in strawberry. That adds some variety and they're all only 5 cal <5 a packet for all of them.

In Need Of New Food Ideas

I know the first has eggs but maybe u haven't had them like this before The name of the game here is layering. Read on and see Spray an 8x8 square pan with Pam or any other nonstick spray, and pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees. Pour 1/4 of the egg whites (don't need to be exact here) and place one layer of canadian bacon at the bottom of the pan. Sprinkle about 1/4 of the oats (so, 1/4 c.), and put this mixture in the oven for 10 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven and add another layer of egg whites, then 1/4 c. oats, then a layer of canadian bacon, then another 1/4 c. oats. Put this mixture in the oven for about 15 minutes, keeping an eye on it, and adding the next layer when this one is no longer liquidy, but not cooked all the way through. Remove the pan from the oven, add the rest of the oats, then the rest of the egg whites, then place a layer of canadian bacon on the top. Put it back in the oven until the top is firm, if you stick a fork in the middle it should come out clean (like a cake). The top will get a little brown. When it's done, cut it in four pieces. I re-heat these to take on the go by placing them in the oven at 350 on a piece of tin foil for about 15 minutes. When I'm ready to leave the house, I take it out of the oven, sprinkle a little sea salt on top, and wrap it up in the foil to take it to go! Another option for re-heating is to place a piece of cheddar cheese on top (or even in the middle, like a sandwich!). Yum! Number of Servings: 4 Recipe submitted by SparkPeople user RACHEL_MAC. Directions Use the turkey as your shell and put the cheese inside along with the cream cheese. Fold it in half and stick on a hot fry pan, only a minute or so on each side as the cheese will melt quickly! Garnish with some salsa if desired!
