Hello! I am 7 months post op and I have lost 70 pounds to date. I have had my band filled four times. The fourth time it was an overfill and had to have a half a cc removed. I think I am filled perfectly. I lose about 2 pounds a week all on diet...I am not a big exercise person. The funny thing is that I will go about two weeks and will not lose and it looks like sometimes I have gained a pound or two, then boom all of a sudden I am down 3 or four pounds. I guess that is how my body adjusts. I am VERY happy with my lapband and Dr. Heydari is the most supportive doctor in the world!

You have to be ready for a lapband! It doesn't do the work for you, but is a tool that helps you. If you follow the 6 meals a day, don't graze, and eat your protein 1st it will work. You just need to be ready for it! It doesn't make you lose weight, you have to do that, but it helps with that hunger. I know that I would lose about 20 or 30 pounds and then get frustrated and start eating again and would gain it back...I know that this is a forever deal and I have changed my lifestyle along with my diet...if you aren't ready, don't do it...it only works if you work with it! I have lost 63.5 pounds and 40 of those are post surgery...it can work!

Remember that you need to find snacks that are high in protein, yet low in fat and sugar! Stay away from the 100 calorie packs that are full of sugar and fat. Stick with string cheese, boiled eggs, peanut butter and rice cakes, low fat yogurt (greek is good!).

I am new to this site and it is a bit confusing! I had my band on February 15, 2011. I weighed 285 on August 1, 2010. I lost about 15 pounds through my three month weight loss and my pre-surgery diet. I now weigh 221.5, down 63.5 pounds. I feel good about myself and my accomplishments! I can do so much more now than I could a year ago...it is amazing. I have my 6 month appointment tomorrow with the doctor. I don't understand how someone can gain weight if their band is working properly and is filled correctly. Sounds like they are overeating a little at a time and they have stretched their pouch. I know if I eat too much it is painful and I throw up. Which I hate, so I avoid...I was also told to never drink carbonated beverages ever again...it would stretch the pouch...maybe their doctor never told them this. I know that I am loving my band!
