Texas Pipe Trade Health Benefit Fund

I can't answer to this directly as I don't have this insurance, but I always advise to call your insurance in terms of what is covered. It's best to hear it "from the horses mouth" and avoid any surprises later on. Good luck!

    Coaster!

I feel you, it's a wonderful NSV! When I lost my first 125 I went back to Worlds of Fun and road all the coasters I couldn't before.
  4. I love flying and riding roller coasters. Both of these things are hard for someone who is 160 pounds overweight. I flew to NYC in June (120 pounds down!) and didn't have to ask for a seatbelt extension! And today we are at Worlds of Fun and I can ride EVERY RIDE! I love weightloss!!

    What's your goal weight?

I'm 5'10 and started at 350 when I got my surgery in February of this year. I'm at 247 now and I'm thinking my goal is 170 but we'll see : )

    Excess Skin

I'm 20, had my surgery in Feb of this year at age 19 and I've lost a little over 100 pounds. I think I will have a little excess skin but not much when it's all said and done.

    Gas Prices, What Is Yours?

    3.04 in Gardner, KS
  14. Where are you at in Kansas? I had my surgery done by dr opie at Olathe medical center in Olathe ks and my insurance paid for it but if I recall, the price there was much lower. Might be worth a shot giving them a call to ask, it's Midwest Surgical Associates. Good luck!

    Sushi

I've been banded since February and sushi was the first thing I got stuck on about 2 months ago. I was being a bit careless and didn't chew too well, but it is the first thing that made me "slime" and I actually gagged and slime came up. It was terrifying, but the next time I ate it I was much more careful. Everybody is different so it's almost a "trial and error" type thing. You have to decide if what you want to eat is worth the risk of trying it. Best of luck!

    Opinions Please

Your BMI alone isn't quite enough, but I would say with the other stuff added you should. I started at 5'9 and 350 pounds, so I qualified on that alone and I had no health issues. Good luck!
  18. 92 pounds gone; 100 pounds is so close I can "taste" it! My surgery was February 20th of this year. How is everybody else doing/feeling?
  19. Thanks everybody, I hope you all are doing well!

    Need Help With Cravings!!

My Breakfast is usually 100-160, lunch is between 250 and 320, and dinner is around 400-500.
  21. It's very shocking! I got my new drivers license at 18 and didn't lie about my weight; it was 285. Then when I had my surgery, on weigh in day I was 3 months shy of 20 years old and 350 pounds. But hey, we are doing something about it! You will be your own worst enemy during this journey, but it's one worth taking!

    Learn From My $16,000 Mistake

Sure, you are welcome to share your opinion here, but to say that you don't want people to make the same mistake as you is ridiculous. Not everybody has issues with their band, and a good majority go into it knowing it isn't "all roses" and that there is a chance of it not working. It sounds like you weren't mentally prepared for it either and thought it was going to be some miracle fix. Not to say that it's the reason the band didn't work, but I think it heightened your disappointment and frustration when it didn't. If you have cancer and a doctor says you can have a surgery that might help, but it might not, would you get it? Of course you would. I am almost 9 months out, lost almost 90 pounds, have never thrown up, and never gotten stuck. How's that for a success story for you? For every failing band there are multiple people who have success. Just because you and others haven't had luck with it, it doesn't mean that nobody should try it.
