Transformingbri, I can totally feel you on that. My fiancé joked that with the way I'm eating, I'll end up gaining 30 pounds before surgery. Haha I had a lap band and they took that out a few weeks ago. Now I'm in the process of waiting for the bypass. I'm living it up though! It's so nice to be able to eat without having it get stuck and coming back up, so I'm pretty much in heaven! Hahaha I am concerned that I'll gain a ton and my doctor will put a stop on everything though so I need to find a way to control myself (at least until my last appt with her on the 20th!) lol What do you want your "last meal" to be before surgery??

Still waiting for surgery date confirmation
futuremrsparker replied to terry1118's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I were you, id show up at my cardiologists office and ask for a letter. Tell them it's the only thing holding you back and you won't wait anymore. I work in an oncologists office and sometimes things get busy and the "more severe" cases get priority over something like an approval letter. So my suggestion is just keep on them! Be annoying! don't be afraid! Haha -
maybe too high risk for surgery
futuremrsparker replied to vicki1205's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a former bandster (soon to be bypasser). My surgeon removed my band and said I had some extremely dense scar tissue all through my stomach. She's making me wait a few months before going back. She said that that scar tissue massively improves with time. She even made the comment that its amazing how much it heals even only given a week or 2! If it has literally been YEARS for you, I wouldn't worry. Your surgeon won't do the surgery if he/she thinks you're too high risk. Good luck! -

I hardly feel like I can say a word about having surgery to anyone around me. I have two coworkers, both VERY successful with RNY. They are both being so critical of me having this surgery though. It's funny because I could care less what others have to say. My annoyance is the fact that even if I don't mention anything, they HAVE to talk about it or ask me questions. They don't seem to understand that I don't. Are to discuss this at work. I didn't even tell my boss what surgery I am having, just that I will be having a procedure done. It's getting to be overwhelming and I wish I could have just gone through this whole thing without my family, friends, or coworkers knowing one detail. As far as its concerned, the only person who truly needs to know is my fiancé. Ugh. People.

Thank you! I'm so excited! This has been a long time coming. Now my last hurdle-- getting work to approve the time off. Geez will I ever be happy when I finally wake up from surgery with my bypass! Haha

Just got the call!! Surgery June 5th!!! I'm so excited!

It seems like my battle to get my lap band out and get the bypass has been nothing but an uphill climb! I hate to complain, but my goodness! I had my original date changed and I had to battle work. Then I woke up from surgery to find out I only got my band out and they couldn't do the bypass. Now I may not get my bypass till aug or sept due to my surgeons schedule not lining up with my work schedule. I could cry. I just want this to be done. I'm so depressed and anxious waiting to hear back if my surgeon can make an exception with her schedule and do mine when she said she was going to-- beginning of next month. Please pray. This stress is getting to me.

Pre-op...too much protein? constipation?
futuremrsparker replied to bjroberts417's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was very constipated after my lap band removal and when I added oatmeal in to my breakfast, it worked wonders! -
I can't wait! I had this realization today of how badly I need this when I was totally out of breath and coughing just because I had to park a little further away from work than I normally do. I'm so young that its scary!

Seriously need help and guidance

How did your surgery go??? -
From what my surgeon told me, the standard is 1.5 feet, but after reading, some surgeons don't always go that far.
-
You'll be ok... I've heard of that happening before. Some surgeons are very conservative with the bypass and unfortunately some people just NEED that extra couple inches to make the difference. You'll be great and much happier you did! I'd also suggest keeping a food log and making an appointment with your surgeons dietitian to maybe help you tweak your diet for optimum weight loss. good luck!!!!

Even if you aren't expecting your period, make sure you bring the lady products you like because a lot of women start theirs after surgery even when it's not due. If you don't have your own stuff, you'll be forced to use the 3 inch thick boats that the hospital has. Haha -

futuremrsparker replied to IChatman's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Toothbrush, tooth paste, comb, pads/tampons, undies, pjs, slippers, cell charger, phone, something to keep you busy, and your own pillow because hospital pillows suck. Haha I also brought deodorant and spray just because I hate feeling icky. -

futuremrsparker replied to chickman's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Carrie, my name is Stacie. I am a former lap bander who will be getting revised to rny in a few weeks. I work for a research hospital and know the value and importance of studies, so I would be honored to participate in yours. Especially knowing that you will be receiving your PhD! How awesome! I will email you my personal email as it contains my last name. -
Sick Before Surgery
futuremrsparker replied to Kurstin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was going to say... The same exact thing happened to me a week before surgery. They put me on an antibiotic for a few days before and everything was just fine. you'll be fine. Drink lots of hot tea with honey. Honey is a natural antibiotic. -
If your insurance is going to cover the procedure, sometimes they will cover limited skin removal as well. Most times, they will only cover a certain area of the body or certain type of skin removal procedure. If they're willing to cover the bypass, in sure they would be willing to cover at least your stomach skin, which when it starts to fold, may get rashes and weep.

Anybody out here have IBS? I'm getting so nervous for my procedure this Thursday that mine is flaring up something fierce and I'm in so much pain. Anytime I get very nervous or excited mine gets triggered. If you have any suggestions (since I can't take my normal meds) that would be fabulous! Until then Im going to go through my routine of curling in a ball on my bed with a heating pad on my belly.

Well im THAT girl...
futuremrsparker replied to futuremrsparker's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hahahaha yeah, 6-8 weeks is definitely not bad at all. The only thing I'm concerned about now is my surgeon told my fiancé that she may only be able to do the sleeve on me as opposed to rny because of "my anatomy". I'm hoping I can talk her in to rny. I reallllly don't want the sleeve cause I already failed with one purely restrictive procedure. If she says no, I may seek out a 2nd opinion. I feel like this is her just trying to push me in to the sleeve for her studies. She does all kinds of studies and I feel like she would want me to do the sleeve just to be one of her studies. I don't know... I'm sick of worrying about things and just want this all to be over with.
