I miss food!
futuremrsparker replied to futuremrsparker's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Since I'm allowed to have soft foods next week, I am just trying to focus on that. My birthday is in 3 weeks and you'd better believe I will be pureeing a piece of pizza with some extra sauce in my food processor. I ain't too proud! hahaha -

Oh I don't know if I'd like that. As much of a technology person as I am, I would not trust it. I would be protesting the robot. Humans are all different inside and as great as robotics are these days, they are still robots.

I know what you mean! I feel like I'm floating! Lol and nothing tastes good to me. Everything sugar free tastes like nutrasweet and I won't even start on chicken broth. Lol
-
Oh my goodness! I didn't feel a thing! Lol she was like "Ok, it's out." And I didn't even know she has started doing anything! The best thing?? I can start soft foods next Wednesday! I don't have to go through the full liquid or puréed stages! Sooooo excited for some flavor back in my life!!! God is SO good!

Heading in to get my jp drain out. Soooo nervous!
-
Yocolefeet, I didn't have that happen, but I would ask your surgeon about it. I'm sure it's just leftover blood in your intestines (which happens from the cutting it), but it could be more serious. Please call them in the morning and at least ask.

I miss food!

Thanks for your comments, guys. I'm still battling the head hunger, but you all are right.. It's only temporary and my health will be so much better for it. What doesn't kill me makes me stronger, right? I go in to have my jp drain pulled tomorrow. I am going to ask if I can have even one protein shake/day just to get some energy back. I can't stomach broth anymore and all sugar free stuff to me is just tasting like nutria sweet now. I used to love sweetnlow, but now anything other than plain water or water with lemon tastes disgusting to me.. -

I wouldn't worry about it! 6 pounds in a week is VERY good! Keep in mind that your body is going in to shock and may be trying to hold on to fat for a few more days before you start burning it because it thinks you are starving. Everyone's system is very different in how long things take.
-
Yeah- I gained about 6 pounds and lost that pretty quickly after surgery. I am counting from my surgery morning "pre-op" weight.
-
Weighed myself this morning. I've lost 15 pounds exactly since surgery day last Wednesday! Crazy!

What ya eating tonight?
futuremrsparker replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can I ask some of my post-op friends how they got past the extreme head hunger?? I'm seriously almost in tears! All I want is a big, juicy burger, but I'm on clear liquids for another week, full liquids for 2 weeks, and then puréed for 2 weeks. I know this is only temporary and will be worth it. I'm just mourning food right now, I guess.... Lol -
Dear head hunger, You may just kill me today and I don't appreciate that. Please leave and don't come back. Signed, A new loser that's just trying to make it back to real food in 3 weeks. :/

That's good. Carnation Instant Breakfast is so yummy too! I've always loved it and can't wait till I can have it. Lol I'm sorry you're having such a hard time holding things down! That's terrible. If it keeps up, make sure you go in for some fluids.

I did.. It's so weird... I'm just having bad pain up under my ribs... Above my incisions... That's really the only place, but its pretty strong when its there. I've tried heating pads and they don't work for it... I put a call in to my doctors office to ask if I could try reg Tylenol. It's like I'm all swollen and sore under my right breast... So weird..
-
What is everybody taking in place of their narcotics? My surgeon said to take children's Tylenol and that just doesn't touch the pain, but I would really LOVE to not be taking the Roxicet anymore. It makes me so foggy and I feel like its just not going to help me recover to be on strong meds. I'm so used to recovering like a beast and being fine within like a few days. At this point, I'm worried about having to go back to work next Wednesday. I'm still in a good bit of pain. This is so sad to me. I'm NEVER like this after surgery.
-
Hey girlie... I wanted to say. Remember me saying all the trouble I had on the 2nd day? I wonder if your intestines aren't just taking a million years to wake up like mine did. It took me 4 days just to pass a tiny toot. Lol when my intestines were still asleep, they had to give me IV fluids cause instead of my intestines pushing fluids down, they would come back up because they were working yet. Some people take FOREVER for intestines and bowels to get working again. Maybe that's the case. If it is, do as much walking around your house as you're physically able to without nourishment to keep you going.
-
Oh you just made me feel so much better! I have to get mine pulled Thursday morning and I've been freaking out! Lol
-
I wish someone would have shared with me how EXHAUSTED this surgery leaves you. I have had a few surgeries and I was always able to get up and moving within a day or two. I am still dragging and I am almost a week out. This is worrying me because I had planned on going back to work next Wednesday. I am going to try and make it through today without any hard pain meds. I have been taking them regularly, every 8 hours, since I got home. I think the meds are contributing to my sleepiness. I just have an overall feeling of "blah" that I haven't experienced in the past. Just make sure you have adequate time to heal up.
-
Anyone else's belly still really swollen from surgery? Mine is huge and I even have a drain in. This surgery seemed to be very traumatic on my body compared to every other surgery I've had. I'm worried they won't pull my drain when I go in Thursday. :/

So for my friends on clear liquids, I have a soup that (although it may sound awful) taste amazing! My gram is italian and always made us "red soup" growing up. It is basically a chicken broth with homemade catsup mixed in for a bit of a tomato kick. Then you put noodles and parm cheese in to finish it off. O.M.G. It is insanely good! So what I did was take my low sodium chicken broth, added in a tbs of ketchup, a punch of onion and garlic powder, plus a very small punch of parm. It tastes so yummy after not having anything for a while. It curbs my need for something a little more savory.

Ugh!!! Having so much trouble with head hunger! My fiancé made popcorn while we watched a movie and it smelled amazzzzinggggg!!!! How do I get past this?? I feel like I'm swimming in all of the fluids I've been drinking, but there's no substance to clear liquids. I'm dying just to chew something salty.
