What ya eating tonight?

I had a scrambled egg with cheese on top. Tasted heavenly! -
Wellllll... I finally tried food for the first time!! Here is my lovely egg with a piece of cheese on top. Holy. Yum! I'm still currently eating (chewing away) and trying to listen to my body while I do so. It definitely is a new way of eating. Hoping this continues to go well!

Thanks! So far so good. I'm kind of sad that I had that interview for the promotion on Monday because I would have stayed home longer, but I know deep down that I was feeling good enough to come back anyway. Lol I just miss being home.

Hi friends! So awesome to see everyone on the other side! :)

Did anyone experience ovarian pain after surgery? I've had ovarian cysts my whole life so I'm wondering if maybe she irritated one while pulling my intestine up or something. It's like a stabbing pain right where my right ovary is. It is seriously killer! I'm going to call tomorrow, but was wondering if anyone else experienced this? It's awful!

That's great! My fiancé and I shared a few laughs when I finally started passing massive amounts of gas. Lol it just kept coming!

I'm curious as to what people at work will say when I go back tomorrow... Especially the ones that had the same surgery, but gave me he'll for getting it. I'm almost 25lbs down since surgery.

Yes! Lol go buy some hydrocortisone cream and put it on. Works wonders! The itching means your incisions are healing properly.

Most of my career has been in psych. Actually, in a psychiatric emergency room. Usually, when someone reaches out like she did, it means they WANT help and don't really want to take action. As mad as they may get when someone finally pulls the plug and 302s them, they truly want help. We all need to just pray that she gets the help she needs and that she listens to everything the doctors and peers she will meet in the hospital tell her. -
Guys, I just did something a little insane for the sake of flavor. I bought my fiancé these multigrain crisps that are cheddar flavor. No lie, they taste EXACTLY like Sunchips. Yum! Anyway, back to what I was doing... My fiancé was sitting and munching on them and I begged him for a lick. Haha so I ended up sucking on one of the chips just for the flavor. And I DON'T regret one second of it! Haha

I get sore every once and a while if I over do it. Other than that, I feel pretty much back to normal. Thank goodness! I originally thought the achiness would never go away! I felt awful for like the first 5 days or so...

Your taste buds change because after surgery, your body goes in to a state called ketosis. It's a state of elevated ketones in the body. It basically means that your body has gone in go starvation mode and is burning its own fat and muscles for energy. You will notice not only bad breath and different tastes (almost metally?), but you can also have different body odors and your sweat can smell a little stronger. This will last for the first 8-12 weeks. That's why you lose SO much weight at the beginning... Don't quote me on these facts being EXACT, it's just my understanding of ketosis from what my surgeon had me read... Lol -

Awe... You can do this! I'm in the midst of my liquid stage right now and want any and every food I see! Lol I just keep having to tell myself that #1. It WILL be worth it! And #2. It's only temporary. I will be able to have real food again. In the mean time, I've been researching how to make healthy eating "second nature". I've always wondered how people in the healthy living blogs I read just simply eat healthfully. My mind doesn't think like that, so I've been trying to find out how to "rewire" things a but upstairs to help me out. Like memorizing healthy recipes and snacks.

Unfortunately yes... I was absolutely drainnnned. I'm pretty crazy about showering and looking well kept, even if I'm just going to stay home, but I think I went like 2 days without showering at one point. All I did was sleep. Think of this this way. Your gas tank isn't getting the fuel it's used to anymore, so the car doesn't want to run.

For me it will be just under 2 weeks. I couldn't have gone back in a week either. I was too sore and still had a drain in. I'm more than ready now though. If I didn't have an interview first thing Monday morning, I would have taken the full two weeks.

Hey! Congrats and good luck! I just had surgery on the 5th and can tell you not eating is definitely a challenge (in your head), but not bad as long as you stay busy an away from the food. I've been battling head hunger like nobody's business. It's been tough. When I think about how I was before surgery, I never would have been able to make it two weeks on clear liquids alone without feeling any hunger. Just keep in mind that you WILL eat again and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It's easier said than done, but its the truth. I've still been cooking for my fiancé as normal, even though I couldn't eat it. I just prepare it then leave the kitchen and sit in the loving room while he eats. The only thing in my house that REALLY got me was a pizza that he was eating one day. It smelled SO good!! I was blessed enough to have a sinus infection right after surgery, so I couldn't smell for most of my first week! Haha -

That's exactly what I did. I threw my other shake away and made a thin one with 1 scoop chocolate Protein Powder, 1 tsp unsweetened cocoa, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 packet sweetnlow, 2 tbs coffee creamer, and 1 cup Water. It tastes great!
-
I tried my first protein shake since surgery this morning. Felt so heavy compared to the clear liquids I've been on for 2 weeks. Lol I made a mistake making it and put a little too much xantham gum in it. It got REALLY thick. Lol almost not good thick. I may toss it all and try a thinner version. I technically wasn't cleared to stop clear liquids, but was told I can start soft foods on Wednesday so I figured I'd give something a little heavier a try and see how it sits. I'm concerned about trying that in the middle of the work week. At least if I get sick today, I am home... I can't imagine a protein shake is going to kill me. I'm scared my stomachs going to explode or something. Haha

I had one in for a week and just got it pulled today. I was SO scared that it would be painful. Actually, I didn't even feel it once the whole time it was in and didn't realize when the nurse had pulled it out that it was done. Lol all in all, not a bad experience. The worst part was trying to shower with it. I figured out that if I pinned it on the shower curtain, it was a piece of cake. Haha
