    Sept 2011 bandsters

I wasn't trying to make anyone feel bad. I was down on myself. My reference to the 100 lbs was what I had been told years ago when I first looked into the surgery. I'm sorry if something I wrote upset you. I never intended to hurt anyone.

I just scrolled through the page and realized i have more weight to lose than anyone else that posted. That is depressing.

    Sept 2011 bandsters

I just came from Ruby Tuesdays. I asked for the children's menu (my surgeon's office gives you a wallet card stating you've had bariatric surgery and need to order from the children's menu). It was perfect. I had a very small grilled chicken breast and spaghetti squash. It is served on a smaller plate so you look like you're getting a plate full of food. It was tasty and healthy. My son was with me and was so supportive. Then off to the gym to work it off. A great day.
  4. I can now do a mile on the treadmill and over a mile on the recumbent bike. I am working on my triceps and lats but found the leg press was a little too much yet.

    Sept 2011 bandsters

Just had to give all of you a chuckle.... I went to the gym yesterday and wanted to weigh myself on the scale that is like the ones in a doctor's office. I ensured it was balanced before I began and stepped on it. I started at 300 mark and that was obviously too heavy. Woohoo! I'm under 300. So, I slid the weight to 250 and started moving the smaller marker up.....I got to 298....299...and it showed me too light. So, I've concluded that I don't weigh anything. LOL (actually my weight is like 299.2 and the scale just won't register it until I firmly get under 300) But, it gave me a laugh. Have a good day everyone. I'm off to the gym.

The only incision that still itches ALOT is the biggest one. The others are healed and cause me no issues.

    Sept 2011 bandsters

I was banded on 9/21 and am only having pain around my port area too. it is still swollen and hard (about 6 in x 6 in area). Feels like a brick is in there. The incision is healing fine and there is no sign of infection. I had the surgeon's nurse check it on 10/3 and she says it is normal. The area is shrinking and getting softer but it hurt so badly last night I almost went back on the Lortabs. I did go back to work Tuesday and worked some long days. I think I may have overdone it. I'm taking it easy this weekend,

    Sept 2011 bandsters

I was banded on 9/21 and am frustrated. I lost about a lb. a day after the surgery and was excited. The last few days I gained 2 lbs and I can't get it to budge. I am adhering to my diet. I'm not experiencing head hunger. I haven't cheated. I'm doing my walking. I don't feel like I'm being starved. I just can't lose another ounce. Any suggestions?

I told my surgeon what my trainer wanted me to do and he gave me the green light to do it after two weeks. I seem to be fine.

    Sept 2011 bandsters

I graduated from the full liquid stage. It was tough at times but now that it is behind me it really wasn't that bad. I've enjoyed a baked potato, chicken salad on toast, and navy bean Soup. (not all in one day of course). I get hungry just before it is time for my next meal so I'm not suffering. I'm stuck at 300.0 lbs. I can't budge one more ounce so that I can drop into the two hundreds. I am still swollen around the portal site and I haven't had a fill yet, It will come in time. I'm being faithful to my exercise and working back up to where I was pre-op. I even braved 10 sit ups today and no severe pain from the incisions. My daughter says she can already tell I've lost weight. No one at work has mentioned it though. Since I started working out and eating healthy July 1st, I've lost 20 lbs. I read all of your posts and they are so informative and encouraging. It is such a help going through this experience. Keep it up gang.
  12. Made it to .83 mile on the treadmill. I began driving since I'm no longer taking any pain killers...and I went to work for 3 hours. That was too much. I'm paying for it now. Definitely not ready to go back to my normal schedule pre-surgery.

    September Bandsters

I'm making the transiton to the Sept 2011 Bandsters group in the Post-Op forum. I hope to see some of you there. Good luck to everyone who is being banded in the next couple days. I'll be waiting to hear how it went in the post op forum.

I belong to a 24 hour gym also. While I"m off work, I'll try to go daily. Once I'm back to work, I'll resume working with my trainer 2x week and going 2-3 more times on my own for cardio.
  15. Made my first trip to the gym since surgery. Walked .75 mile on the treadmill. Felt great.

Made it to the gym. Got a hug and an "atta girl" from my trainer. He is so encouraging. Walked 0.75 mile at a speed of 2.1. Not very fast but it felt great to get back in the gym. Weighed myself on the more accurate scales and I have lost even more weight than I knew. 1 more lb and I am in the 200's. I haven't been there in over a year. That was the first goal I set for myself. Next goal is 270. Haven't weighed that since 1996.

I noticed there is already a Sept 11 bandsters group in the Post Op section. Sounds like you are doing great. I'm venturing out to the gym today to try the treadmill. Since I'm off narcotics now I can try a short drive.

    Where is your port??

Thanks hdavis72 and Georgia Peach...I feel better now. I was beginning to worry that I was the only one with a port on the left.

    Five days after surgery

You might want to call the office and double check. I have to eat 60 grams every day. It is important for your wounds to heal and to not be hungry...and I'm sure the energy level.

It must be surgeon's preference. From what I've read here, I'm the only one who has the port on the left side.

    Where is your port??

MIne is on the left, midway down the rib cage.

    Five days after surgery

I'm four days post op and yesterday was a tired day but otherwise, I haven't experienced it. I've only lost 5 lbs. How much Protein are you consuming each day?

    Sept 2011 bandsters

I was banded on 9/21 and I've already lost 5 lbs in 4 days! I'm not hungry. I'm having trouble taking in all of the water and protein they want me to have. Still sore, but every day is a little better than the one before. I only had one pain med yesterday. Took a short walk in the neighborhood. I'm so glad I planned on taking a week off from work. I would be pushing things to go back tomorrow. How is everyone else doing?
  24. Lost 5 lbs since the surgery (9/21/2011). That's more than 1 lb per day.

    Dr. Nease anyone?

I was banded by Dr. Nease 9/21. Procedure went well. Lost 2 lbs in 3 days. Never expected to see any other of his patients here. This is great.
