Thank you so much. The super sagging skin is worth it but it has to go. For me it actually itches. -

Actually a lot of this seems like her fibromyalgia. The surgery can cause a serious flair. The first step is understanding fibromyalgia. Your sister lives in constant pain which often times people expressing anger. It also would explain Her extreme fatigue. Many of the more severe Fibro patients can no longer hold down jobs, clean their homes and some can't even take care of their families. Many experience something called Fibro fog which makes it very difficult to think clearly, often don't want to be a part of family and friends gatherings because any stress good or bad can contribute to pain. So yes as others said getting a therapist might be helpful, having her bloodwork run also helpful but having her husband and yourself have a thorough understanding of fibromyalgia would probably be the best benefit to her. Also finding her a very good fibromyalgia doctor and pain specialist. -
Fibromyalgia Sleevers
Jadeskys replied to ILOVETEXAS210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So far I don't see any improvement. -
I have fibromyalgia so exercise hurts. But I have reached the point where I see the exercise is necessary. Unfortunately we have reached fall and so I can no longer use my pool. Since I only last about 30 minutes i'm wondering if I should be walking or attempt weight training.
-
Hi, I also have Fibromyalgia and since my RNY I have pretty much continued to walk. I walk 3 to 4 times a week, 3 to 4 miles each time. This is the only exercise I do. It has got better as I lost my weight. I can't say that I don't have pain, I never had problems with my knees before my surgery. Now it is bad!! I have had Ultra-sound guided Gel shots in my knee's also Steroid shot. I ask why it happened after I lost my weight, my DR told me that if I hadn't waited I would be in a wheelchair!! I am so glad it waited to plague me!! I find that walking is great for me: I call it my attitude adjustment time!!! I can be having a rough day and go for my walk and I come back happy!! Good Luck

Are there any other bariatric patients that also have fibromyalgia? My surgery was May 1, 2017 and I am struggling with the pain. When I had the revision surgery from band to sleeve I knew there was a good chance I would take a little longer to recover. I was in the hospital three days. Since the surgery I have lost 15 pounds. I realize each individual's journey is different as are our medical conditions. I have ended up in a infusion center 4 times had to go back into the hospital May 17 for another three days because we could not control the pain and dehydration. And then to top it off The day before Labor Day we were in a car accident. I have been going to physical therapy to hopefully help with the pain since the surgery but I am unable to add much exercise. In fact my physical therapist discourages me from doing some of the exercises I enjoy. On Pleasant days I do try to get in the pool for at least 25 to 30 minutes and swim or even just tread water. It doesn't seem to cause the pain I get from a simple walk to the mailbox. However, my weight loss hasn't moved since May 17. My doctor has not yet given me my macros however I've been tracking them and noticed I tend to eat around 500 cal my carbs seem to stay under 10 and my protein ranges from 65-80. I also have hypothyroid, hypertension, depression, obstructive sleep apnea and Aniexty. I will see my doctor next week and inquire is it the lack of exercise at this time, medications etc. or am I just expecting more weight loss then is reasonable. I will admit like many I fight the water bottle it is very hard to get the amount in that I should be taking. It is not that I don't like the taste it's just that I never was a drinker, So it is a serious effort to remember to stop and have a drink. I hate Powerade zero but I did pick up some drops that are supposed to make your drink more like a sports drink and offer more hydration. I can't tell that it's really doing anything. I would love to hear other fibromyalgia stories, tips you have learned along the way, anything you could share to help me along this weight-loss journey would be so greatly appreciated.

For those of you that have had DS. which multivitamins did your physician put you on ? what form did they come in? And have you had any problems with malabsorption as long as you have stayed consistent with your vitamins?

Fibromyalgia and Sleeve
Jadeskys replied to Chris Lee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The surgery pain is not as bad as it was before. However I still cannot go for walks. I am swimming though. I have an appointment to speak with the doctor about furthering my surgery into the DS. The nurse practitioner seemed very excited that he would allow this after reviewing my charts. Even though I am following the very low-carb diet the weight-loss is excessively slow. I know if I could just do more that would help but the Fibromyalgia pain is still there. -
My surgery was May 1 and I am still having abdominal pain. However, I have fibromyalgia so I am unsure if this is normal or not.

Fibromyalgia and Sleeve
Jadeskys replied to Chris Lee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today is another painful days. However I am going to try to swim however very low impact. I see a pain specialist on Monday and I'm hoping that perhaps they can pull all of my issues together and come up with a better so-called pain cocktail. I want the pain to go away but be able to have a clear mind which is difficult. I also have asked my doctor to look up for my file and see if my gastric sleeve can be converted to the duodenal switch. It has a higher success rate for weight loss and long-term results as far as keeping the weight off. It is what I actually asked for and the doctor would not do it. When I went to my check up yesterday they were disappointed in my weight loss so far even though I've been following the directions as best I can. Since I saw the nurse practitioner I learned that my doctor in the group doesn't do the duodonel switch and it was another. However my doctor didn't refer me to the other doctor so I have asked that the other doctor review my file to see if I would be a candidate as I matchup for everything in the written literature stating I would be a good candidate. I'll let you know how it goes. -

A lot of questions about SKIN
Jadeskys replied to Shrinking_Shamrock's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Have you ladies found that where are your skin touches you get rashes? I have started to notice for example that under my breast where they touch my skin has started to get red and itchy also where I'm having sagging skin in the groin area is doing the same thing and I have to use a lot of baby powder. I am in the beginning of all this weight loss journey is this something I can expect to continue until I reach my goals and can have plastic surgery? -
Your right. I probably need to have my daughter hide the scale for awhile

Everyday but I don't freak out if it goes up one day. I know I'm following the protocol so it will all be great in the end. -

Awesome! -
I have had a very difficult time staying hydrated since my surgery. I ended up in the hospital for three days last week and I have been in an infusion center 4 days not to include the actual three days I had right after the surgery. I just can't seem to drink enough and I am so sick and tired of being poked and prodded. Have any of you had or considered getting in an a port so that you could get your proper hydration and blood work done? If so, how did you bring up the discussion with your dr.? I have a Fibromyalgia and every poke feels like a knife stab. I'm really getting frustrated with this whole mess.
-
My pain was so out of control on Wednesday and I was dehydrated I just lost it in the doctors office. I was sobbing and explained to her I didn't think I could handle being poked one more time. I asked her if this was going to be a chronic problem to please start building a case for a port. I still ended up in the hospital that day and didn't much care how much they poked me after I was on morphine and anti-nausea medicine. The fibromyalgia seemed to be in a serious flare.

Twice last week and the week before. I've always had a hard time staying properly hydrated. I like Gatorade but that's not allowed anymore sience not 0 cal and I don't like the power aid zero. I got the electrolyte tabs but they don't seem to be helping. So yes I'm concerned this is going to be a chronic thing. I wonder if my blood pressure medicine could be contributing to the problem?
