I get my protein in and I work out 5 days a week for an hour a day. I keep see sawing and I'm not sure why. My job isn't too active. I'm a phlebotomist in my own draw station so its a semi desk/semi on my feet job, but I don't have to do a whole lot of walking. I thought about buyine one of those small stationary steppers to use in my down time here.

What is it that you do that aids in your weight loss? You are doing very well. I was banded in August and have been see sawing for the last few months. I am just trying to get advice.

Is It Normal Not To Have A Bm For The First Week After Lap Band Surgery?
Lisa1967 replied to sherrypep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded at the end of August and I still don't have a regular BM. Just be careful, during the first couple weeks after I was banded, I got severely constipated and ended up in the ER. Very embarrassing. Make sure you push your fluids and miralax could be your best friend. I started taking a fiber supplement and I still do. -
Mine does too but not too bad now. I was banded at the end of August. From what I understand the more weight you lose, the less you will notice the port site.

Christmas Goody Intervention
Lisa1967 replied to gotmyeyeontheprize's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got lucky (maybe). I had a fill on the 22nd so I had to be on a liquid diet for 3 days post fill. I was able to enjoy Christmas dinner, but could only have a little. But it did help with the holiday weight gain. -
How Many Days Of Work Did You Miss after Lap band Surgery?
Lisa1967 replied to ready4therealme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My physician required 2 weeks. I work in healthcare and the hospital I work at gave me 6 weeks, so I took it =) I have decent short term disability, but if I didn't, I could have went back in a week if that. -
Lapband First Week Advice !!!!
Lisa1967 replied to ChristinaH_SD's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Like very one else, I would have to say ask your surgeon. I was on full liquids for 2 weeks post op, mushies until just a couple weeks ago. I was banded at the end of August. -
At my 2 week post op appointment I was released to do as I please. Have had no complications from that. I was banded at the end of August.

I Need Help Now!!! Pain After Lap Band Surgery
Lisa1967 replied to ktandnoahsmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe your stomach is still healing. Don't panic too much. Is this your surgeon that is checking you out? I was banded at the end of August and I get a little pain every now and then. But I know shortly after surgery if I moved wrong there would be some pain. Just remember you are just a little over two weeks out from your surgery. I was told my first week to take it easy and get a lot of rest. Are you very active? If so try relaxing for a few days and see what happens. -
I do. It's been a pain. My problem area is on one side above my ear along my hairline. I hate it. I use an apricot scrub in the evening and every morning (when I'm not rushing and don't forget) I use an astringent. It's kinda working. But if I forget for a day or so, I get a breakout. It sucks....I thought maybe it was something to do with hormones and me getting older lol. I am 44.

IF you have two insurances can they pick the secondary 1st?
Lisa1967 replied to rklewis2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Rule of thumb is they will primary first and then what they don't pay, they then bill secondary. You would have to ask your secondary insurance if you can bill them as primary and if so, when you register for your surgery have them just bill the secondary. -
water, vitamins, not eating sweets

Lap Band vs. Gastric Bypass/Sleeve Gastrectomy
Lisa1967 replied to Sabrina140's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
FYI I don't have to go to the dr every month for an adjustment and the stomach can stretch back out if you are not careful. That info came directly from a bariatric surgeon!!! And you only have to go for adjustments till you are in the green zone. -
OMG Go!!!! It will be one of the best vacations you will go on. I went a couple years ago way before I was banded. You will have the greatest time. Stay away from Waikiki Beach. Too touristy. I loved the big Island and Maui. The best vacation I've ever had. Don't let your current weight get you down. It is 3 months down the road and you will have plenty of time to get some more weight loss.

Not getting fluids in, will affect weight loss. I am not a fluid drinker either. It's very difficult for me. So I do understand, my dietician told me to make sure I get my fluids in, it will help with weight loss. You are also allowed to walk. At two weeks I was cleared to do any exercise, but I do know of some that can't do crunches or lift weights. I do as stated before walk 10000 steps, It equals to 5 miles. I exercise 5 days a week an hour per day. I mix cardio with resistance training. Try using My Fitness Pal. You can log your food and your exercise.

Lap Band vs. Gastric Bypass/Sleeve Gastrectomy
Lisa1967 replied to Sabrina140's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The reason I made my choice was because I wanted the least invasive procedure as possible. I am happy with my decision. The band is reversible and the sleeve isn't. If you are not careful the sleeve can expand and you will be back at square one. At least with the band I know I can add restriction if needed.. I have known plenty of people who had the sleeve procedure and they have been really ill the first few months. In fact I know one who had to go back and get the roux-n-y done. I also was looking for a slower weight loss. They have to chew their food even more than band patients. I was looking for a slower weight loss. You can also return to work sooner as long as you have one of those jobs that doesn't require you to be really active. I'm not trying to scare you at all, in the end it is your choice. These are the reasons why I picked the band. -
Not to change the subject.....What kind of bird dogs do you have?? I have a German Shorthaired Pointer.

Advice or Suggestion .. please
Lisa1967 replied to Amanda Mae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I first made the decision the only people who knew were my kids, husband, parents, inlaws, and two of my closest friends. Since I work in a hospital laboratory, and had my surgery at the same hospital, we get a surgery schedule the day of. Needless to say word got out throughout my department. -
I do cardio and resistance training. I work out 5 days a week, one hour per day.

Unsatisfied with the Lap Band surgery!!!!
Lisa1967 replied to poopgirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I also have been banded for less than 3 months, but I would have to agree with everyone else. I have read to stay away from the surgery centers. I believe there is one death involved with them as well. I think it is the surgeons and not the band. -
I know there are others that don't ever have to have a fill. I went on how much I could eat and it was more than I should have. I would listen and pay attention to your body. Thats what I did. I would see how I feel the day before, before you cancel your appointment just incase.
-
I'm on week 9 and just got my first fill last week. After my fill I had to do 3 days of liquids. Mind you I was on the stage 4 mushy diet prior to my fill and will still stay on that diet until I am on week 12. I know all surgeons are different, but I would definitely talk to your surgeon about what you are experiencing. If you don't get too hungry that sounds like there is still some post surgery inflammation.

I was banded Aug 22, and I was going through the same thing you are going through, except I wasn't paying attention. But my husband was and mentioned it to me. Luckily I didn't gain but I did see-saw. I had my first fill this past friday and has made a difference.
