    hooray for liquid hydrocodone!

Just be careful, over time Lortab will make you constipated. Make sure you drink your fluids and or take a fiber supplement.
  2. I have a realize band also, upon discharge from the hospital I got an ID card. I would talk to your surgeon and or the hospital where you had your surgery. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have a realize band and I've never been offered or seen a card like this in my materials. that said, i'd never use it. Kids' meals are often not the best for us, protein-wise. I usually just order an appetizer instead of a full entree.
  3. Thank you so much for adding me. It's nice to have a go to person .

I bumped up.. is that so wrong?

Well I am a firm believer in following Dr's orders. I was banded August 22nd. I was just released to mushy foods 2 days ago. I'm still pretty much on liquids have tried mashed potatoes that didn't go well. It didn't make me sick just gave me a heavy feeling. I know you get sick of being on the same diet for any amount of time. But I believe your surgeon has your best interest at heart and studies have proven this is really the best way. I understand everyone is different, and I am also hungry a lot, but I just let it pass. I know I have to be stronger than my urges or this will have been a waste of time for me.

    Stage 4 Diet Help

I have the go ahead to progress to the next stage. But now I'm scared to eat. My surgeon said to chew it till it's like liquid, but if I don't how small do I have to get it? I did a mixture of hard boiled egg and light mayo and I chewed but I was scared at the same time.
  7. I'm 2 weeks post band today. The only thing I can see is will power. Trust me, I'm an avid watcher of Food Network , and I still do post band, and I have a family that still eats. But I just have to believe in my physician and that he knows what is best for me right now and just have sheer will power. I know this doesn't help but that is the best advice I can offer. I am still on a full liquid diet and hoping to be released on mushy when I see him wednesday!!

    Slim Fast Shakes

There is an Ensure high protein drink out. It has 25 grams of protein the downside of it is it has a couple extra grams of sugar than the docs prefer and it is also 14 oz.

    Caffeine

My surgeon told me to stay off of it as well. I haven't had any since post op. I'm going to try and stay off of it. I may sneak it sometimes =D
  11. My surgeon left mine empty because he wants to wait for the swelling to go down and will evaluate at 4 weeks. I thought that was standard. I guess not.
  12. JoJo, I can have blended fat free cream soups, apple sauce, and yogurt.. Trust me my Protein Drink are starting to make me gag. My stomach also grumbles a lot too. And I also feel hungry a lot. I can't wait till the next diet stage. I am looking forward to pretzels lol. Hi Lisa, Thanks for replying! Yeah, this phase has turned out to be much harder than I thought. I wouldn't mind the all liquid thing as much if I could have some non-sweet stuff other than low sodium broth. I just hate sweets so I'm literally gagging every time I drink this stuff, and I can only stomach the vanilla flavor so it's getting old quick and I don't know how I'll be able to do for another week. I'm also confused because it seems other people on here have Dr's who tell them they can have other soups during this phase, or move past this phase quicker, so I don't know what's the right thing to do anymore. Starve or eat something that other recovering Lap-banders had and were fine? I'm trying to think positive as you said and about the end result, but it's just rough when your stomach is grumbling all the time and the only thing you can eat makes you nauseous. As for the hospital, I plan on writing all of this stuff on the survey they send post-ops.
  13. I also am a recent lap bander. I just had my surgery August 22nd. I'm on a full liquid diet. Yeah I am getting sick of it, but I know this is just a temporary situation and I have to push on. Trust me I'm so sick of protein drinks right now its ridiculous. You just have to envision the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I know you're reading this and thinking OMG this girl is sickening, and trust me I'm not a positive person all the time. It's just something I have to think to get myself through right now. I'm so sorry your treatment at the hospital was so bad. If it was me I would contact the CEO and report that. That could happen to someone else and a mistake could severely harm someone else.

    Hello

I had quit drinking soda for 2 weeks quite a while ago and during that time I lost 10 lbs. If you can quit pop period, it is so much better for you.

    Hello

Welcome. I am also new. I just got banded on 8/22. I know what you mean about the negativity. When I made the decision, I only told my immediate family and 2 friends and my supervisor of course. I was pleasantly surprised it remained a secret for the 5 months prior to surgery. The only person that slipped was my mother in law(of course) But people think when someone does this, that we are taking the easy way out, this was a major decision that I truly tossed around for a couple of years. My shortness of breath was getting worse and I knew I needed to do something about it. I was puffing my rescue inhaler about 4-6 times a day and panicked when I didn't have it in my pocket. Since surgery, I've used my inhaler maybe 3 times. This is a very good site to get information and advice and has helped a lot.

  17. I agree!!! The sipping concept is for the birds!!!!
  18. You should go and have a sleep study done to see if you do have sleep apnea. If they diagnose you with that, you should have no problems. I would find out asap. Sleep Apnea is very serious and I know of many that have died from the disease.

    Allergies and the band

I would consult an allergist for your allergies. Immunoinjections may be an option before having to take another medication.
  20. I am one week and 1 day post surgery. When I was first released from the hospital it said to take in 2-4 oz per hour. I was wondering when I could increase that. I was reading that you can gradually increase this to 8 oz but I was just wondering when a safe time to start doing this.
  21. I started my journey last march from that point to my preop diet, I gained about 10lbs. I think I was taking advantage of eating things that I would have to give up post band. Unfortunately it's not a good thing, but I did enjoy it at the time.
  22. My name is Lisa. I am a 44 year old mother of 2. My daughters name is Jewel she is 19 and my sons name is Sean and he just turned 18. I am married to a wonderful man and his name is Jamie. I am a Phlebotomist at our local county hospital. I have been a Phleb for almost 5 years. I enjoy my job. I was banded on August 22nd. So far so good. Just some minor hiccups but easily gotten over. I feel this is one of the better lifetime decisions I have made and have high hopes this will increase my quality of life if I work hard.

When do I start increasing fluid intake

When I was first released from the hospital the directions of the diet said about 2-4 oz a day but could gradually increase to 8. I really appreciate all the advice. I really miss chugging water

    Please Help Me!

I am 8 days post banded. I had the same feelings at first up to the time I was in holding pre surgery. For me it was a lot of nerves. I have lost 14 lbs since surgery. And I know it is going to be up to me to get to my goal weight. I'm going to have to make the right food choices and exercise. But I do feel like I have more energy than I did before the band and confidence and excitement. I was told to relax and take it easy my first week. Today I'm going to take my dog for a walk which is the first time I've had the energy all summer and I'm excited about it.
