I hate my metabolisim this sucks....
Lisa1967 replied to Texasbandit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've been working out every day. So the one thing I did do is quit weighing myself everyday. I don't blame you for not wanting to do the see saw dieting. My surgeons nurse told me a lot of people get frustrated with the lapband. I'm trying not to be one of those people. I just want things to start moving again. I would be happy with a pound a week right now =) -
stuff to take to the hospital???
Lisa1967 replied to funygurl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have sleep apnea, don't forget your cpap machine. Also if it is an overnight stay, bring something to do. I brought my laptop. Most hospitals have wifi. -
I had my surgery 8/22 you can add me if you would like =)
-
I'm not sure if you are required to have a cpap to get qualified. That would be a question I would ask. Also ask your insurance company what requirements they need for you to have the surgery.

August Bandsters Did you get your 2nd Fill Yet?
Lisa1967 replied to Sharon1222's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm hopefully getting my first fill Oct 19th. My surgeon won't do fills until 8 weeks post op. I haven't lost in over a week and also feel I can eat anything. -
Day 2 of pre-op liquid diet and ?'s...
Lisa1967 replied to cbreeden28's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The one thing I noticed is when I started coming to this site all surgeons are different. It's really been an eye opener. During my pre op diet. I had to stay 1000 calories or under. Protein shake for breakfast and one for lunch with a snack in the after noon. For dinner I could have 4 oz of meat a half cup of veggies and a half cup of starch and lots of fluids. Except for the day before surgery then It was either breakfast or lunch was my full meal and a protein shake for dinner. -
I have mild sleep apnea and it worked for me. Do you have to use a CPAP machine? I did even with my mild sleep apnea.

I was banded on 8/22 and I lost lost lost. Now I haven't lost nor have I gained in over a week. I've been working out daily and my calories are also under 1000 per day. I'm trying not to get frustrated but deep down inside I am. I was also told I would lose about 2 lbs per week. I"m wondering if this is something that will start happening when I start getting my first fill. -
Is there any Iron in them?
-
It does!!! Thank you very much!!!!

Congratulations and good luck to you all. I am a fairly new bandster. I was banded in August. Best decision in a long time I could have made!!

If you do have sleep apnea, that should cover it. As for the lab work, I'm not sure if one time of abnormalities will cover it. I know a history will. Do you get regular annual lab work done? I would call your insurance company and ask what the qualifications are and also ask your surgeon. I have found they are all different.

Jillian Michaels is the devil...no seriously she is!
Lisa1967 replied to kychick1294's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband purchased the UFC Trainer for the Wii for me. I felt the same way after my first workout. It got better afterward. So hang in there, your body will adjust if you keep doing it. -
I had my surgery the day before you and I have been at the same weight for about a week now. I've been exercising everyday. But from what I have read, our bodies are healing right now and to give it time. It can be frustrating. I'm frustrated but I know I have to push on.

I think every surgeon is different. I was banded on 8/22 and my surgeon has released me to do what I please. Some maybe more protective than others. My surgeon made me stay overnight after surgery and requested I take a minimum of 2 weeks off from work. I know some people have this surgery as an outpatient procedure and go back to work in a couple days. It all has to do with the surgeons preference is all.

I may have some capri pants that may come available soon

I was wondering, I am currently on mushies right now. Since I can have crackers, can I have tortilla chips?

What do you want to do when your skinny (or thinner)
Lisa1967 replied to helen098's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To wear a little black dress =) -
Congratulations!!! I was just banded on 8/22. It was also a big decision for me. Although it sounds like you had more going on that I did but it was more whether I really deemed this surgery necessary. When my breathing got worse and started using my rescue inhaler 6 + times a day I knew I needed to do something. I think since surgery I've only used my inhaler a total of maybe 8 times. I am now able to do any exercises I want and can eat mushies. food doesn't seem so exciting anymore. Things look good, but when I go to eat, I can take it or leave it. Maybe after I'm on my permanent diet it will get better. I'm trying to get Protein through food instead of Protein drinks because I'm really sick of those lol but have been unsuccessful. So it look like I will be in Protein Drink hell once again. Oh well. Anyways, the best of luck to you and there is a lot of good advice from others on this site. Lisa (my name too lol)

I work in healthcare and there is no reason whatsoever to treat a patient that way!!!! Like someone said previously, make sure you report this to the office manager. They work for you, you are the boss!!!!

Are cream soups full liquids or mushies?!
Lisa1967 replied to faz1988's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As long as they are pureed or strained they are considered full liquids. -
Hi I was wondering what mushy foods are good for Stage 4 diet? I have a list, but other than the ordinary what are other options to get more protein out of.

I am a new bandster. Many of my friends and/or coworkers are choosing the sleeve right now. Those people are looking for rapid weight loss. But I think they are paying the price too. They were all miserable and in a lot of pain and sick quite often in their first few months. I didn't feel I needed to do something that drastic. I wasn't looking for rapid weight loss, just to be healthy again. After a few days post op. I was feeling good and wasn't miserable. This is why I chose the band and I'm not a bit sorry that I did.
