Does your dr. do fills/unfills in the office or under X-ray?
Lisa1967 replied to citygirl4616's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor checked my band with an Upper GI post surgery. He did my band fill in his office. A visiting PA wanted to observe and he showed how you know you have put the syringe in the right spot and what happens when you don't. It didn't really bother me too much. I don't mind being a guinea pig once in awhile for teaching purposes lol. Alsobas a laboratory professional, I know for a fact lab personnel doesn't do lap band fills so I'm not sure what that nurse was thinking lol. -
Anyone see lap band featured on Dr.Oz?what did you think about what was said?

Is it the one with the two female patients who had the band? I went onto his website and saw a couple clips on them but wasn't sure of the date these were premiered. -

I am addicted to Skinny Cows!

I was addicted to skinny cows too. I quit buying them for now. -
It depends how stuck you are. Like everyone else they say Milk of Magnesia. It didn't work for me, I ended up in the ER, after 2 enemas, and miralax I had relief. I keep miralax in the cupboard, its a mild laxative and my surgeon was fine with that. Everyones body is different, and somethings that work for some people doesn't always work for others, but it is always worth a shot. I would start with the Milk of Magnesia, warm Prune Juice, or other probiotic first. I would just take a laxative only in extreme circumstances.

Slow Weight Loss/Constipation
Lisa1967 replied to REDDGIRL1209's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Increase your fiber. If you really feel stuck, I took Miralax. I had a big issue and ended up in the ER and that was ok'ed. Before starting any new meds I would consult your surgeons office. -
Some physicians require it if you are a former smoker. My surgeons requirement for surgery was 6 months smoke free and would run a nicotine test. I would have had to have quit for over a year not to have one. But I didn't have one, he forgot lol

It depends on the laboratory it gets resulted at. If your local laboratory has to send it to a reference lab, they may do the test sooner. I was suppose to do mine a couple weeks before surgery. I guess my surgeon forgot. Oh well!! lol.

First day of mushy foods,Im starving so why am I scared to eat?
Lisa1967 replied to sheriah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't feel bad I was scared to eat when I first started mushies. Make sure you chew until it's like liquid and you will be ok. I've had a couple close calls but I've never vomited. So far so good!!! -
Drinking lots of water does not flush the thc out of your system. What it does if you drink lots of water before the test. The test will come back inconclusive.

Also if you ever get hair tested, it stays in your hair until it gets cut out or loss. It's up to the employer how many months they go back. Mine goes back 3 months.

Take a lot of naps or stay busy. That will make your day go by a lot faster. -
Is my postop pain normal??
Lisa1967 replied to formykids2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't feel bad. I used a pillow too. I learned this from my husband who had hernia surgery 4 weeks before me. It seems you have minimal improvement. I would just give it a couple more days. I'm glad to see that pain goes away with baths. My son does this when he has a tummy ache and he says it makes if feel better. I really thought he was being a drama queen and making excuses for his baths lol. I stand corrected, thanks guys lol -
Pre-op diet recipes idea
Lisa1967 replied to Kellysue's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you see a dietician to educate you on your preop diet? I'm not sure if all surgeons do this, mine did. If so I would give he/she a call and see what they suggest. I find it odd they aren't allowing you protein drinks, but I know every surgeon is different. -

Calorie intake...hurting or helping?
Lisa1967 replied to onmyway11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been on a see saw lately. I gain a couple I lose a couple. I work out 3-6 days a week. I had recently gained 3lbs. I weighed myself this morning and lost the three. I also haven't worked out since thursday. So there is a lot truth to what others have posted. It's frustrating though it seems I'm not getting anywhere. I'm hoping for a fill on wednesday to see if that helps. I have nothing in my band right now and am almost 8 weeks post op. -

Is my postop pain normal??
Lisa1967 replied to formykids2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was really exhausted for about a week after my procedure. I had a nurse who had the gastric sleeve and she told me to take it easy for a week that I would probably feel tired. I went to a concert 4 days post op. I was so tired I didn't want to go, but the tickets were pricey so I made myself go. I had fun but passed out as soon as I got home. I'm so sorry you are having so much pain. Just take it easy and hopefully it will subside. I did notice the more I tried to move around the better I felt. Just take it slow..baby step it. -
Is my postop pain normal??
Lisa1967 replied to formykids2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was very lightheaded for a few days. What stage of diet are you on now? I was on full liquids when discharged from the hospital. Maybe is because your body is used to a certain calorie intake and it's getting a fraction of it now. Everyone is different post surgery. And I'm not a physician so I'm not really sure why. Did you get any narcotics prescribed for pain? If so try taking that for the pain and see how you feel in a couple days. If it persists call your surgeon and let them know. -
Hi new here and have question
Lisa1967 replied to curlyheadgirlsmama's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had to do a lot of talking to get my husbands support for the surgery. He thought it was an unnecessary surgery. I asked him to think about it and to get back with me. He never did. About a year later I proposed the lap band. I presented the info. I gave him the mortality rate. He agreed because he wanted to make me happy. I had him go to my consultation with my physician and he was so much more comfortable, I had his total support for the surgery. I hope this helps. I have been where you are and my husband has been where your husband is. I had my surgery at the end of August and it was a piece of cake!!! The tough part is actually the road ahead. I wish you the best of luck on your journey. -
How is the fake chicken? I have some patties in my freezer and was wondering.
