On reaching 375 lbs, I decided to have lapband surgeryat age 68. As type 2 diabetic, I continued to gain weight & become less mobile despite aquatic exercises, etc. Forced to buy expensive outsize clothes. Did not fit in plane seats. Big fat old man.
Dr Kevin Huguet & team in St Petersburg, Florida conducted excellent pre-surgery program to explain all consequences and test committment to overall program.
Started to stop my weight gain and lose weight in pre-surgery phase due to awareness and diet.
Great surgery on 8/30/2011 with no complications - had to stay overnight due to Medicare requirement but not necessary. Good follow up medically & support. Some problems with gas, constipation, and sore shoulder but resolved soon. Returned to aquatics exercise program at St Pete Beach with great instructor in Norma Robinson within weeks. I am very pleased to recommend Dr Huguet and his team..

In late 2012, we moved to Los Angeles. Now lucky to be under excellent medical care of Dr Eraj Baseri at the Khalili Center in Beverly Hills, California with great team support. Have resumed my aquatic exercise program at Westside Y with 3 excellent instructors. Still losing weight, getting stronger, & increasing my mobility. As of 6/12/2012, weight is 295 lbs.

Just celebrated my 69th birthday with family. Still exercising regularly (aquatics) in Westside Y pool, despite usually being the onlly male in classes of women. Weight loss seems to be a little stuck and I will need to pay more attention to my diet. Getting fitter and stronger everyday and able to walk further and longer.
