MY FIRST FILL WAS A NIGHTMARE

I had my first fill yesterday. I didn't find it painful at all. It took my doctor a little bit to find my port but once he found it, it took only a minute. I was very relieved that it went better than I thought. Good luck on your next fill.

    First Fill Today

I was banded 12/30/11 and have lost 36 since my pre-op appointment. I've been stuck at 36 pounds now for three weeks and today I got my 1st fill. My doctor told me that I had 4 cc's in my band on surgery day and added one more cc added today. I hoping I'm not hungry all the time and that I stop thinking about food all the time. It seems like for the past 3 weeks I've been so preoccupied with food....
  7. I will have my first fill on 4/5. I was banded on 12/30/11, down 36 pounds. The weight loss has slowed so I am very excited but nervous to have the fill next week. I'm hoping and looking forward to feeling full again.

How Are You All Doing Now?? Updates?

I was banded 12/30/11 and to date I've lost 34 pounds. I tend to eat/drink either a greek yogart for breakfast or a sugar free carnation drink. For lunch sometimes I eat left overs but I usually eat about a 1/4 to 1/2 cup cottage cheese and an english muffin. For dinner what ever my family eats, just in smaller portions. I have been exercising, either the elliptical for 30 minutes or walking 3 miles. I have not had a fill yet. I have been drinking a lot of water, well more than I ever did before. No drinking and hour before, during or an hour after. Good luck.
  9. I had gas pains for about 4 days. I sure was glad when the went away!
  10. I was banded 12/30/11 and have been able to eat a decent size portion. For example for lunch I can eat 1/2 cup cottage cheese and an english muffn. Tonight for dinner I ate grilled cheese sandwich and a few orange slices. My question is, today I went with a friend to an information meeting about wls, and the surgeon stated that with the lap band the stomach/pouch is the size of a thumb. I have had no fills yet, but am still losing weight. I have lost 32 pounds so far. Do this sound right? The size of a thumb? How much is everyone else eating?

How Much Weight Have You Lost?

I was banded 12/30/11 and have lost 33 to date
  12. Thanks everyone. I thought that sounded ridiculous but then I started to second guess what I was eating.

Are You Sure You Don't Want Anything To Drink?

Not drinking before, during or after meals has been hard. it really makes me think about what I'm eating. I was advised not to drink an hour before, no drinking during and no drinking for an hour afterwards. I see that some people drink right up to the time they eat. Has anyone else been told not to drink an hour before? I also get water when we go out and just not drink it so avoid any questions.

    Getting Discouraged!

I just went to the dr for a check up last week and was down 29 pounds. I had my surgery 12/30/11. My surgeon was very pleased because he stated that he sees an average of 50 pounds lost in one year. I have not had a fill yet, I'm still losing without. I go back 4/5 so we will see what happens then,

    Band Slippage

Thanks, that make me feel better. Oh how I can't wait for this cough to go away.

    Band Slippage

I know that your band can slip with vommitting, but what about coughing? I have a terrible cold and have been coughing very hard. My dr said my band is stitched on three sides but I feel something on my right side that I have not felt before. I've only been banded since 12/30/11. Could it have slipped? I had a protein drink this am and am drinking water and everything seems fine.
  17. I did tell my employer, who has kept it confidential. I would not go with the Thyroid surgery as I did have half of my thyroid removed, and believe me, that is a surgery you can not hide. I only took a week off, so if you have the time, make it a "vacation" so no has to know if you don't want them to.
  18. I also have only told very very few people, only my sister, husband and a handful of friends. I do not want every to know, one because one woman I know had another form of weight loss surgery and is a bit of a know it all. I really do not want other people's opinions on lap band, especially if they haven't gone through it. To date I've lost 27 pounds (since 12/30/11) and if approached, will just say I'm watching what I'm eating.

  20. Does anyone chew gum or eat popcorn or nuts since being banded?

    Alcohol Issues

Please be careful. I work in an outpatient substance abuse clinic, and there is a high connection between people who have had gastric surgery and alcohol/drug addiction. I have made a committment for that reason for the first year after my surgery to remain abstinent from alcohol. Please, please be careful.

    Burping!..chest Pain!..stuck?

I am also six weeks post op tomorrow. I also burp alot. I don't think I have something stuck because there is no pain. I assume I am drinking or eating too fast. I will be curious what people offer you.

    Taking Time Off Work

I had my surgery on Friday 12/30/11 and by the following Tuesday 1/3 was ready to go back to work. I didn't actually go back until 1/9. I work in an office and spend a lot of the day sitting. If I had the go ahead from my dr, I would not have taken so long off. I don't know if this helps, but I'm 41.
