Your Last Supper......
ccsbulldog replied to FLORIDAYS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We had been out because of a basketball game which my daughter ended in the hospital to have xrays on her finger(s), so I had McDonald's. A quarter pounder meal with ff and a coke. Not my ideal last meal but one I will remember forever. The only thing I've eaten from McDonald's in the last year has been a salad. -

Anyone Have Gallbladder Removed After Band Surgery?
ccsbulldog replied to feliciadawn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had the same surgeon for both surgeries. It was my primay care doctor who diagnosed/sent me for all the tests to find out what was wrong with me. He referred me back to the my lap band doctor since he does more than wls not to mention he understands my band. An added was that he checked my band out while doing the gall bladder surgery. -
Anyone Have Gallbladder Removed After Band Surgery?
ccsbulldog replied to feliciadawn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded 12/30/11 and had my gall bladder removed 9/21/12. After several months of "attacks" I was finally diagnosed as having gall stones. I have lost 63 pounds to date. After reading posts on this site it seems very common. -
I'm scheduled to to have my gall bladder out on 9/21/12.

Has anyone experienced pancreatic issues/disease since being banded. I went to my pcp today after experiencing what I thought was gall bladder issues. I have a lab slip to go to immediately to the hospital to have blood drawn to rule out pancreatic disease. I've also been given nexium and told to take latose pills before each meal, based on my symptoms (pain after eating, not everytime, random and things with milk seem to be a common factor. According to my pcp he said that pancreatic disease is commom after this type of surgery. Now I'm scared...I've only been banded since 12/30/11.

I was banded 12/30/11 and have just been diagnosed with gall stones. I'm going to see the surgeon on Monday.
-
Well I had another "attack" and went for bloodwork during it. My bloodwork came back with elevated liver enzymes. My pcp then ordered an ultrasound on my liver, pancreas and gall bladder. Results....gall stones. I am now referred back to the surgeon who did my lab band. I see him Monday. Glad that's all that's wrong.

Just Got Banded On Friday (Yesterday Morning) And I'm Already Famished?? Practically Too Hungry To Function. Feel Like Crying
ccsbulldog replied to Lapbandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Using pain medications to stop hunger pains is crazy. That is not their purpose. Using them for any other reason than pain is abusing them for what they are intended. If you are not in pain, DO NOT USE YOUR PAIN MEDICATIONS. I can't believe a doctor would suggest their use for keeping hunger away. For the record, I work in an outpatient substance abuse clinic. -
Gall Bladder Issues Post Op
ccsbulldog replied to texas-bandette's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also having issues. I was banded 12/30/11. I have been having "attacks" of pain for a few months. Nothing consistant. One time after eating yogart, once after salad, once after cottage cheese and english muffin and other foods, nothing greasy, nothing fried.... I had a slip to have blood work done when I was having the pain from last dr. appointment. My bloodwork showed that my liver enzymes are elevated, also a sign of gall bladder (when I googled causes of raised liver enzymes). My pain starts in the middle of my body and travels straight through to my back. Pain lasts for about one to two hours from the start, sometimes longer (with my last "attack" it was abput 4 hours) I've also felt very sick to my stomach like I'm going to get sick, but haven't. I have an ultrasound scheduled for next week. I'm hoping it's my gall bladder. I hate the unpredictability of this. -
I just have to share, 50 pounds lost!! Surgery date 12/30/11. Next goal to be under 200 pounds.

What Made You Decide To Choose The Lap Band Over Other Weight Loss Surgeries?
ccsbulldog replied to Lapbandster's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had lap band for the same reasons as you. I'm love my band. I'm down, as of today, 52 pounds. Surgery date 12/30/11. My goal is to lose another 60. I've seen people who have had the other surgeries, two in particular stick out, one is gaining her weight back, and the other still eats terrible and dumps all the time and looks very sick. To me this is the healthier choice. Right now I have another friend who is considering the band and she asked if I had any regrets. I can honestly say I do not. The band may be "more work" but I know that I would not be 52 pounds down without it. Good luck with your choice. -
So here's and update on my "pancreatic issues". As I have not had any "attacks" since starting the nexium, the lactose pills and low fat diet, my pcp has concluded that I have excess stomach acid, apparently a common problem for those who have had lap band surgery. He stated he has other patients who have the same symptoms as me. As my insurance won't pay for nexium, he has prescribed omeprazole 40 mgs. I have to take it with food for the next month and then get the script refilled but do not take it unless I start experiencing symptoms again. I am hoping for no more "attacks". I haven't had any in about a month now, thank goodness!

latinamom- each morning I drink carnation sugar free drink with 1% milk. If I'm hungry mid morning I eat a greek yogart. For lunch I eat either chicken breast on a dry english muffin (hillshire farms have precooked, 2 piece of chicken in 4 different flavors 19 grams of protein, 2 grams of fat and 120 calories). for dinner I eat what ever my family eats. I walk almost every day between 3 to 5 miles. I can't say I haven't had "forbidden" foods. If we go for ice cream, I get a baby cone, and I occasionally eat a couple chips. I drink my water and really am careful of what I eat. Again, I'm not perfect and do not always eat by the book, but I can say I eat much better than ever before. Good lu

How Are You All Doing Now?? Updates?
ccsbulldog replied to kr8160311's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Roseann - 92 pounds is awsome!!! I was also banded in december, 12/30/11 and am down 51, starting weight 256, current 205. I have 6 cc's in a 10 cc band. I have no problems with my band, but other issues that my doctor is trying to rule out, pancreas/gall bladder issues.
