  1. I had my surgery on the 16th. I can't tell you that it was all a bed of roses, but it didn't last long. I had a rough 48 hrs after surgery and then 2 more days of not doing so well, and then it changed and has continued to get better every day. I know some people have a very difficult time and others, none at all. I can only speak for myself when I say, I have no regrets at this time. I feel I am progressing much like when I had my gallbladder out 2 years ago. The only advice I would give is, if you need time afterwards and can take it, take it. Don't rush yourself. You will need time to heal. Good luck, owl

    Just need a little advice.

I had my surgery one week ago today. Like you, I feared I would become dehydrated. But every day it gets a little easier to drink liquids. I keep something within reach all the time. I make up my shakes for the day and then sip on them through out the day. Takes me 5 individual servings to get the 3 shakes down. In between, I always make sure I have a water bottle with crystal light mixed in. I'm not a water drinker so this works good for me and I get down 32 to 40 oz of water inbetween the shakes. Although I find I like both drinks as cold as i can get them. I saw my doctor yesterday, said I was doing great and no signs of dehydration. I had been concerned as I kept very little down 3 days out from surgery but the 4th day out, boy did my body improve. I got the drain out yesterday and had my first good night of sleep. I was able to take 3 weeks off from work and am going to pamper myself. But I know of others who went back in a week later, on a reduces work load. Please take the time to heal yourself, if you need it. Good luck, don't force the liquids, but keep at them. owl

    Starting the Process

I didn't have to have a sleep study. I have BCBS of Florida. All they required was 6 consecutive months of seeing a physician for weight loss. I started 3 times over because I missed a month here and there. I got so fed up with them I went to my mom and was given an earlier inheritence, for which I am very greatful. I would suggest you speak with who ever does the billing for the physician/surgeon you are seeing. They will have the best information. Hang in there and good luck with your insurance. owl

    3 DAYS POST-OP

I have steri strips on some of my incisions but I also have stitches. I get my drain out tomorrow. I agree, Way to go all of us who took the plunge on the 16th !!!!! and of course, the rest of you.

    3 DAYS POST-OP

I also had my surgery on the 16th. this is the first day I feel like getting on line. I had a tough go in the hospital with nausea and my B/P kept spiking. I can't keep the liquid loratab down so I am in some discomfort but liquid tylenol seems to help a little. I finally got a spooneful of yogurt down this morning, but haven't been able to progress much past clear liquids. I know this is TMI but I had a bowel moment yesterday evening and boy did that feel great. Mile of Magnesia did the trick. Difficult sleeping at night but napping during the day in a chair. I get my drain out Monday and I think after that I will be much better. I put a pillow under my knees and that seemed to help somewhat at night. Nothing taste good at the moment, but the yogurt was refreshing, even if it was just a spoonful. Any thoughts out there on clear liquids that taste good but not toooooo sweet. owl
  6. I started my journey on weight loss when I was 16, that 39 years ago. Tomorrow I truely hope that it is the beginning of the end to diets and plus size clothes. I am sooo looking forward to changing my lifestyle and eat to live, not live to eat. I go in a 6am tomorrow morning. Your day will come, it will. Hang in there. owl

    nervous

I'm going in Tuesday morning. If I hadn't had emergency surgery 2 years ago, I might feeling the same way. But I have a lot of faith in my doctor, I know people who have gone to him and that puts my mine at ease. If you've been planning this for a year, you'll do fine. It's just jitters. I've been overweight my entire life. I have no idea what it will be like to be at a normal, healthy weight. That is what I find scary. Sounds like you have a lot going on in your life, a lot to look forward to. You will do great..... [

  9. thanks,. hope you do well tomorrow. my surgeon told me it only takes 90 minutes for the surgery. you'll be in and out in no time.

I may be asking for help in manuvering around this web site which at the moment is causing me more stress then the diet.
