I had my surgery here in NH at DHMC and had a great experience. Since my surgery I don't eat much pasta or cheese. I have to take a stool softener if i eat pasta or cheese otherwise I get bound up. I try to stay away from them as much as possible though. I found Shiraki noodles that if done right are an ok substitute for pasta and its healthy. Just rinse them and soak them good because they stink but google them. I figure if I am going to go as drastic as surgery to change my life I am going to follow a healthy diet. I also notice now if I eat red meat I either don't lose or I gain up to half a pound. So I do a lot of chicken, pork and a little fish. I no longer drink soda at all and drink a lot more crystal light then ever before. I do greek yogurt, sugar free pudding and jello. for a treat I will do a fudge bar (skinny cow or Weight watchers or Shwans light). I have not found any food that I can't eat but there are some I choose not to eat. -

Well Hello. Let me know if you have any questions. I am now 10 months out from my surgery. If you have any questions please just ask no matter what. I have had some good success in that I've lost 80 lbs so far and I'm still losing. I have gained 2.5 lbs this week due to 2 deaths in the family but hope to finally get back on track starting tomorrow. Where are you having your surgery? How is your surgeon? -

I feel great and yes I know my shirt is too big but I can't go out and by clothes until I hit my goal and start maintaining. Can't afford to buy new clothes every month. -

Thank You all. I am feeling great and can't wait to hit my goal. I see a 5K in my future and a great summer wearing smaller clothes

Well I'm not on here as much as I'd like to be. I thought I'd give an 8 month post of sleeve update. If you would have asked me in the beginning I would have said I'd be happy just to lose 25 lbs. I had serious doubts I could ever hit the 50 lbs lost mark. IF I'm really being honest I was petrified I would be one of the ones that didn't lose anything. However here I am 8 months out. I have lost just over 76 lbs and I am so proud of myself. I can't believe it. I never thought I could actually get close to my goal weight of 150lbs. However I am now 17 lbs from that goals and I am thinking I just may even go under that to be technically a "normal" weight. Though I find that whole "you should be this weight" really silly. I am 9 lbs heavier then my 15 yr old son and we don't look it. Everyone is different and I just want to be healthy. If I become normal then that is great but i just want to be a healthy Amanda

I must agree with massindex but take it a step further. I feel that we all went through these surgeries to change our lives for the better. That means completely changing the way you eat for the rest of your life. You need to stay away from the foods that caused you to gain weight in the first place. I know people are going to hate hearing that but I am a firm believer in this whole process. I admit when I see all the treats at work, the cookies, cakes, muffins, donuts ( I work in an ER and we get a lot of donations and we have a lot of coworkers who bake a lot) it is hard. I look at the food and want it just like anyone else. I want ice cream and candy bars, but I think I miss soda the most I just have to think about where I was before (243.6 lbs) and where I am now (167.2lbs) and think wow I feel great I grab my sugar free pudding and pretend its cake. It doesn't always help but it helps to know I am getting healthier for myself and my son Good luck to you & I am here if you need to vent a food frustration LOL -
Well I am now 167 lbs and a size 14ish. I have excess skin that if it was gone I may be a size 10 but that will come with time. Changing my excercise routine to ramp up my toning

This was my first blind date night. It didn't go well but I was feeling great and my old coat now swims on me. -

My son and I actually went to cut down our own tree this year and I walked around for 2 hrs looking for the perfect one. Then I helped cut it down though it did nothing for my hair do LOL -
