11 Days Post Op and not losing....HELP!!
cheryl2586 replied to NY Bandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agreed you too soon to be worried about losing weight. Worry about healing right now the weight loss will come -
Although we all could tell you what it possibly could be I think these questions are for your doctor. You are not guaranteed to get a proper answer here but only opinions of what it could be. If you are having pressure or discomfort you should call your doctor.

Watch some movies with no commericials and stop watching cake boss or that channel. Its hard to do the liquids but you will get through it. If you have HBO or something try to watch movies so there are no tempting commercials. Start a journal of your hell you are going through you will laugh about it later on when you are thin

DO YOU 3MEALS A DAY OR 3MEALS WITH 2-3 SNACKS
cheryl2586 replied to LessyAudra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Why do you think you will want to eat more than three times is my question. You may or may not need to . I eat three meals and maybe one snack thats it and no more. Your mind set needs to be not thinking about food and how much and how often. You need to replace eating with something else. Its not necessary to snack. My doctor said three meals and no snacks. The snacking only comes because of my blood sugar dropping not because Im hungry. Rethink your eating now. -
I have a 10cc band with only 3 cc's in it and that is fine for me. I am 19 months post op. I never had one fill til a year post op and lost 70lbs without one fill. I have only had two fills this year but my weight loss has stalled because I quit smoking yay for my lungs not for my weight but now the scale is moving again. The green zone is so different for so many people because some do fine on a little amount and some need to be tight (dont know why I want to enjoy my food not be punished) I think that some are in too big of a hurry to get filled up which if you get to many fills too soon it does not leave you any room to get more fills. The slower the better and I think you should wait it out. I dont understand the whole thing about a fill take a couple weeks to make a difference because when your filled the little pillows in the band are immediately filled and are pressing on your nerve so I dont know what thats all about. I guess because they feel tighter some days and not others I dont know. I always felt my fills immediately.

Yes and I think I always will no matter how much weight I lose. Mirrors are not friendly at all

How many calories are you eating per day?
cheryl2586 replied to MrsGillen07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
1000 to 1100 I put every single thing I put in my mouth on spark people. I find I can be accountable and know exactly what I am eating at all times. It doesnt take long to do it. If I dont have time right then and there I will write it down to add at a later time of the day but it gets done every single day. -

Do U use Lap band ID for Kiddie/Sr/Smaller meals
cheryl2586 replied to stratcat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I enjoy the left overs and eat them the next day. I dont eat out that much so really there isnt that many times I have left overs. But why wouldnt you eat it if you take it home. You can put it in plastic containers the meat anyway and freeze it instead of not eating it. -
Left shoulder pain 2 yrs later
cheryl2586 replied to bandaide's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had it for a whole year after surgery then after I had my first fill it went away however I do get it when I eat too much. It is the band pressing on the nerve maybe you can get a little taken out to see if that helps some people end up getting their band out because they cant get rid of the pain. I dealt with it. -
I have been on the same plateu for a very long time the scale just started moving after many long months dont know what to tell you.
-
You have to understand that the first 20 or so pounds you wont see that big of a difference might not till 30 lbs

I bumped up.. is that so wrong?
cheryl2586 replied to StewsHunnyBunny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You stomach needs time to heal and eating is making it work and move a lot eating more solids before recommended might do you in I would say get back on the liquids and do what your doctor said. Yes hunger is hell but it will also be hell if you slip your band or something worse. Post op instructions are given for a reason and if you want to eat food then call your doctor and ask them if its ok. Im sure they can find something for you to eat that will help tame the hunger. -
Help Me! ....eating After A Lap Band Fill
cheryl2586 replied to momnear40's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is the issue so many have because they do not listen to their doctors or follow their diet like they should. If you do not follow a strict regimen until your weight comes off you can get 20 fills it will not help you. -
It seems to me like your eating the wrong things. You say your eating regular food like what? Your main consumption right now should be protein and very few carbs and your carbs you are eating should be fruit or vegetables. If your eating bread, rice, potatoes you are not helping yourself. Are you sleeping enough (8 hours or more a night) sleep helps metabolism. Are you pooping? Are you drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day? What kind of exercising are you doing. Just cardio or weights too and for how long. If your eating protein mainly you should be losing weight. I tend to believe when people are not eating what they are supposed to do not get the results they want. If hunger is an issue get some hoodia from GNC and not any old cheap hoodia it will after about a week help your appetite because it tricks your brain in to thinking you are full. Yes the band is a diet no matter how you look at it. You still have to control your food intake. I believe if you do all the above you will see results.

OK I've got another question- How do you all feel about drinking fluids with a meal?
cheryl2586 replied to pinklily27's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have never drank with my meals since sugery 18 months ago I wait at least a half hour after before I even think about drinking. I understand the concept completely. -
Liquid diet depression
cheryl2586 replied to Bunnyenvi's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
mac and cheese is not a good mushie food and neither are potatoes you need protein like refried beens, cottage cheese, creamy soups. Do not eat mushie carbs they are not the answer. -
This is exactly why people need to stay in the United States to have surgery. Im sorry you went through that but it could have been avoided at all cost.

Center of excellence is the name of most bariatric surgeons they have to be in order to to bariatric surgery. I did a lot of research on my own and really if you take all the information given to you there wasnt many questions I had. People just need to read what their doctors give them.

When should I switch doctors?
cheryl2586 replied to Monifa415's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have to have a surgeon in order to get approved they can not approve you if you dont have a surgeon to do the surgery. Its like approving a loan for a car or house and there isnt any to buy. -
I dont think weights will help with the extra skin its stretched and probably wont go back without surgery. We have to live with sagging skin or get surgery. Lifting weights unless your gonna take steriods and buff up like a man is not going to help the sagging bat wings.

activia worked and works for me. Takes some peri colace or generic equivalent or some good old milk of magnesia, ducolax tablets but of course not all of these

First of all I would say that maybe you have some swelling which may go down after being on liquids for a few days. You must be your own advocate and If I was treated like that I would not have left the office until I was totally at ease to leave. You have to make some doctors know that you are not a push over and you want answers before you leave or you dont leave. Stay off the scale for now and no you dont always need a fill every four weeks I didnt get the first one until a year after surgery. Mr doctor tells me to come back when I need a fill because you know when you need one. You only need a fill when 1 you are constantly hungry and not losing weight or eating too much and not being satisfied for at least four hours. Fills do not make you lose weight they just stop the hunger.
