Mitral Valve Regurgitation??
cheryl2586 replied to Damander's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have mitral valve regurgitation there really isnt anything they treat you with. I had the band with no problems. They just monitor it. It is where the valve doesnt close all the way causing the blood to flow back instead of forward. You probably have a heart murmur that is how they found mine of course I am a lot older than you but I dont think it will affect you in anyway as far as surgery. Its not really treatable but liveable. I have not had any problems with mine and I have had it for ten or more years. I wouldnt worry about it affecting your surgery. -
3 to 600 calories a day is less than a child eats. If you want to be anorexic I guess the weight will eventually fall of due to not eating but you will also become deficient and all that hard work your doing in exercise it will take it from your lean body mass eventually. Anyone who starves themselves will eventually lose weight.

cheryl2586 replied to K1SM3T's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

Like to make a few extra bucks writing about the Lap-Band?

Joe it has all worked out for you. Their loss I say. What difference does it make how many post someone contributes to a website because I feel this way when your always contributing to this website then you have little or no life and always have to give your two cents. When sites are new they are not going to have every thing on them that you are looking for until they become more seasoned with viewers. Apparently some people are not business oriented but then who would they have to pick on all the time if people didnt post. He pays well by the way for your time and effort skeptic people......... SMH at stupidity once again......... Like he said if you write an article and he doesnt pay then you have wasted 10 minutes I can waste ten minutes on here and only get grief for the most part because of rude people who have nothing else to do but try to humiliate people constantly -
FEELING DISCOURAGED :(
cheryl2586 replied to mstrustar2730's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If it would make you feel better find some where else to have your surgery but the fact is that people die during surgery. That can happen anywhere. With every surgery there is a risk of death. Im sure that hospitals do not share their amount of people who die on the table with the public or news paper unless something like this happens. -
I would find a different protein shake as well as slim fast tends to have to much sugar in it. I would go with EAS that has more protein and less than one gram of sugar. Its not half bad either I buy the already made with carb control. You want the most protein in a shake. Also body fortress at walmart is about 22 for the powder and less than 1 grm of sugar.

Throwing up even after a year or two following the lap-band?
cheryl2586 replied to lookingbetter's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Throwing up means slipped band. Her kidney problems have nothing to do with the band. Yes the band is at more risk of slipping after a few years. Just because your accustomed to eating a certain way does not mean the band can not slip. Its not a daily occurence for most but it does happen and she needs to call her doctor. Bandsters are NEVER supposed to throw up. -
If you can not even sip water, you are too tight. Yes there is swelling but you should still be able to drink water
-
Im not going there. Call you doctor thats what he gets paid for.

The human stomach is a muscular, elastic, pear-shaped bag, lying crosswise in the abdominal cavity beneath the diaphragm. It changes size and shape according to is position of the body and the amount of food inside. The stomach is about 12 inches (30.5 cm) long and is 6 inches. (15.2 cm) wide at its widest point. The stomach's capacity is about 1 qt (0.94 liters) in an adult. (taken from a medical website) The stomach only stretches when one over eats but goes back to normal size once the food is digested.

I think I can read elcee and the anatomy meaning where the organs are placed not the size of them. I think I know anatomy since I have been in the medical field for 25 years. Everyones stomach is the same size.
-
Elcee I hate to tell you but everyones stomach is the same size no matter how fat you are. My doctor has done over 3500 surgeries and he told us it didnt matter how obese someone was everyones stomach is the same size so its just whatever the doctor does. He doesnt match a size to your stomach.

The Gym and Water giving me grief
cheryl2586 replied to x96oun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like I said you should not be having heart burn at all EVER. You dont know that the band is not too tight. My doctor has a poster up in his office that states if you have heartburn at all you are too tight. You should not have heartburn at all ever. -
Just because you can eat as much as you did before you shouldnt you should be eating a cup of food 3 times a day and maybe a snack or two. I can not believe you let your doctor fill you that much in 15 weeks. When you are completely filled what will you do. Are you exercising, sleeping. Stay off the scale. Stop getting fills and stop eating as much as you did pre surgery. You will not lose weight if you continue to eat as much as you did before surgery.

Why are people afraid to call their doctors
cheryl2586 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have noticed when going through the forums that people post questions that their doctors should be answering. Like I am having chest pain is this normal, I have discomfort or pain. These questions should be answered by your doctor. Chest pain could mean a pulmonary embolism and kind of pain could be abnormal. Opinions will not help you if something goes wrong and just because others experienced the same symptoms yours may be different. Your doctors are getting paid for being up all night if you need them. They are on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week and that is what they get paid to do. Dont be afraid to call them with any questions you might have. -
Post op for most is not fun but neither is any surgery. I would say after the first two weeks you start feeling good. You may or may not get hungry it depends. I was hungry by the end of week one but it doesnt mean you will have a hard time. Is a couple of weeks discomfort really that bad compared to having a lifetime of health. You have to do what you have to do to be happy. With every surgery there are risk but 90 percent of the time there are none. You cant let the negative take over the positive.

Why are people afraid to call their doctors
cheryl2586 replied to cheryl2586's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Even if you were banded out of the country or self pay and dont have a doctor here if your are having chest pain, leg pain, throwing up, having pain you should go to the ER then not ask people what it could be. I dont think that asking medical questions should be here. We are not in a position to give medical advise when something could really be wrong. -
My advice is to ask your doctor. Throwing up means slip but you should be talking to your doctor about this.

Is your band not working or is it you?
cheryl2586 replied to YngGram's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well let me chime in here too. I lost 70lbs in five months after being banded then I quit smoking. Yay for my lungs but aweful for my weight. I met my husband and got married in Novemeber last year and his love for ice cream over came my ability to say no so I ate it and ate it and ate until 20lbs errupted over night. I couldnt stop. Then I discovered Hoodia from GNC and thought what the hell it cant hurt. Well guess what???? I am so full after taking that I can hardly get my meals down. I have lost 5lbs in a week yay for me so 15 more to go to get back down where I was. It has done wonders for me in a such a short amount of time. I wont get anymore fills because I go through hell of not being able to eat for a month afterwards due to swelling. I have very little in my band but I am not getting filled again for a very long time. Try it if you can its about 29 dollars a bottle I take it 30 minutes before breakfast and 30 minutes before lunch do not go for some cheap brand either claiming to be pure hoodia. I eat roughly about a cup of food and I tell ya it works and I do not feel like grazing because I am too full. It doesnt make you feel shakey actually I have not felt any side affects at all. So I am back on track for now. I think we all could motivate each other to do it. -
You probably had swelling after the fill and it has since went down not uncommon

Do I have to eat 1200 calories for the rest of my life?
cheryl2586 replied to extraonme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1200 calories is what normal people eat more or less. If you cant keep down soup you are too tight. I dont understand why you would need to eat more than 1200 calories when that is normal intake. Just sayin. -
