Vomiting and Depression after Lap Band Surgery
cheryl2586 replied to kaye1229's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There is a huge difference between vomiting and spitting up a little. I did talk to my doctor about this very issue and he said people with the band should NEVER throw up. What your describing is hardly vomiting. Vomiting, throwing up is wretching your stomach violently so hard that your band would slip. If your just spitting up as you call it or sliming that is not vomiting or throwing up. -
Vomiting and Depression after Lap Band Surgery
cheryl2586 replied to kaye1229's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ummmm no one is the lapband police but if your vomiting every single day then that is not normal. Yes on occassion and that should be rarely if something gets stuck it may come back up but you should not be vomiting everyday ever and if you are then you need to talk to your doctor. Whom ever thinks it is normal then you need to tell your doctor that your vomiting every single day and see what he says I am sure he will not be happy about that. -
First and foremost the holidays need to be thought of now not about food but about family. Although we have lived our lives around festivities always involving food it cant be that way anymore and I dont miss it. I enjoy the holidays with the people I love and dont worry about the food. You need to set your mind away from food and enjoy the holidays with something else.

How so after surgery do you get your first fill
cheryl2586 replied to Carfigure's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I never got a fill for a year because I kept losing weight. You shouldnt be upset if they dont want to fill you if the scale is moving. You only need a fill if 1) you are overly hungry and not losing 2) you can not go 4 to 5 hours without eating 3) foraging for food between meals. If you are constantly losing then I wouldnt get a fill yet. You have to remember the less fills the better because what happens when your band is full and you cannot get anymore fills. I have only 3 cc's in mine and I am almost two years post op. -
Fill question
cheryl2586 replied to StewsHunnyBunny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You shouldnt feel anything but pressure and maybe you might and I said might feel the band tightening around your stomach. Afterwards you shouldnt really feel anything but stay on the liquids like they tell you too and make sure you can drink water before you leave that office -
I cannot eat anything cakey because it always gets stuck. I cant eat bread either. You pretty much wont know until you try it bit to me it was not worth it. Even a little piece got stuck horribly and I was in a lot of pain. It doesnt mean it will happen to you I just cant eat it. You dont have to feel bad for passing up cake its not a big deal if you dont eat it. I wouldnt worry about it if you really dont want to try your band especially in a place that wouldnt be nice if you did get stuck.

Gastric Ballooning While Recovering Post Lap Band Removal
cheryl2586 replied to Farmers Gal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know someone that had it and the acid in the stomach ate it up and he had hell getting that thing to pass. I would say let your stomach rest. Why irritate it more when its already irritated. That balloon is not a good choice. -
But what are you eating that your hungry in 1 to 2 hours. If your eating 3 to 4 ounces of protein you shouldnt be hungry in and hour and a half and if your tight in the morning you may or may not need a fill. Some people never lose their hunger but you have to learn to control yourself with food. Are you eating fruit in between when your hungry???? It never took my hunger away but I eat fruit when I get hungry.

Vomiting and Depression after Lap Band Surgery
cheryl2586 replied to kaye1229's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
People WTH you are not supposed to be vomiting ever. You think that its normal and its okay really???? People with the lapband are NEVER supposed to throw up and if you are then you need to get some unfill or tell your doctor that you are throwing up. You are putting yourself at risk for a slipped band. It is not normal to throw up and not normal not to be able to swallow water. You should be able to eat without issues and if you are having issues especially vomiting that is not normal. SMDH -

how can I tell when I am full??
cheryl2586 replied to tammylee205's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is not about being full anymore. Its about being satisfied. You are not supposed to eat until you are full. Set your alarm on your cell phone for 20 minutes and after that stop eating. You do not want to be full anymore............. -
Ummmmm why havent you called your doctor???? It doesnt matter what others have experienced you need to call your doctor..
-
Although everyone wants to give their opinions I do believe you should ask your doctor that question. Its not a matter for us to tell you if it is or isnt. I would have the doctor go over this with you because anything that has to do with stretching, erosion, or slippage should be discussed with your doctor then he can figure out if your having issues.

Do You Drink Coffee After Lap Band Surgery ?
cheryl2586 replied to Sharon1222's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Its not about dehydration its about the caffeine irritating the pouch which can cause erosion. I drink decaf and have done just fine on occassion I have regular coffee but dont make a daily habit of it. If I need caffeine I take diurex which also helps eliminate water weight. -
Quick opinions please...
cheryl2586 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
are you takin immodium to help with the diarhea at least -
dont feel that giving up anything was like a death sentence. If you want beer drink it but its a bunch of empty calories when you could be eating good nutrious food. Why waste calories on beer when it will only slow your weight loss. Get at goal then drink an occasional beer. As fas as carbonation goes I dont believe that theory it will stretch the pouch when it goes straight through the hole in the stoma its not sitting in the pouch. I just dont drink it because its empty calories and I dont need it anymore

I buy the solutron chewables from GNC they are not bad and I take them at bed time

Why am I soooooo HUNGRY????
cheryl2586 replied to MyPersonalJourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are going to be hungry. You have to wait it out and try not to snack all day. Drink as much water as you can and eat good protein, meat, cheese, cottage cheese, beans. Try not to snack unless its fruit or a low calorie food. -
NEED HELP, ADVICE!! PLEASE! Feeling like Im failing
cheryl2586 replied to KimJ384's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The longer you take to lose the longer you will be able to keep it off. Slow and steady wins the race its not about losing fast its about losing effectively and being able to keep it off once at goal -

Second thoughts regarding my choice of facilities
cheryl2586 replied to Dulci's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well because new drug laws went in to effect as of July 1st anyone taking certain medications are required to see their pcp for refills in person and it doesnt matter how many years you have been taking the same medication. Doctors are covering their asses for patients who do not use their medications properly. Its sad that people like you have to suffer but its the way the laws are that make these things happen. -
Tylenol not cutting it
cheryl2586 replied to TracyNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have taken ibuprophen for over a year now with NO ISSUES. I need it and I take it and make sure I take it after a meal just as you would have before surgery. It doesnt stay in the pouch because its small enough to pass through the hole. -
I can eat everything I have trouble when I dont chew or take big bites but other than that I have no issues eating anything. I had an hour stuck episode on salad but only because I tried to eat more than I could and too fast. I dont eat celery because it has no nutritional value.
