The Cold Hard Facts
cheryl2586 replied to oliversmomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dont think that a doctor who makes you cry is a good surgeon after all he is part of your support system also. I would never go to anyone who talked to me like that because if it wasnt for his patients he would be a broke ass selling drugs on the street. I dont care how fat we are/were no one has the right to talk to us like that. Its not a motivator its them pushing their weight around because they have never had an issue with being obese. I would find another understanding doctor that had a bed side manner asap because in the long run everytime you dont lose a pound, screw up, dont do as much as they want when they want it they will make you feel like a failure I dont think so. Thats my opinion though I refuse to pay to be treated like a piece of crap when most of our lives we have been treated as such by people because we are/were overweight. -

Not Sure If I Have A Blockage In My Lap Band ? Help!
cheryl2586 replied to banksy412's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well telling someone to take papaya enzyme when they cant keep any food down is not quite a winner either. Seriously????? -
Its not about dehydrating you its about irritating the pouch. That is why they say no caffiene. I drink decaf and am fine with it. Its the same thing if I really need some caffiene I take diurex which not only gets rid of the excess water weight but is 100% caffiene

A Mix Of Scared And Excited
cheryl2586 replied to superluli's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Right now is not the time to be eating bread and mashed potatoes they are loaded with carbs. I would find something with more protein and get away from the potatoes and bread for sure -
A slice of bread for breakfast why would you want bread instead of something more nutritious and 8 sushi is more than 3 to four ounces of food. I dont see giving up carbs as a demon but a way to lose weight forever. You may be able to eat bread after a fill it doesnt mean you wont but why waste calories on bread when you can eat more nutrious food.

New Years Eve Dress Size....
cheryl2586 replied to larpens's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its taken you three months to lose 21 pounds and New Years Eve is four weeks away I would say that unless you starve yourself that would be impossible unless you buy it in a bigger size -
Should I Get Ivc Filter before Lapband???
cheryl2586 replied to tandi04's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would in no way get a filter if you have never had a blood clot. I sit all day too and never had an issue all you have to do is get up and walk around once in a while and pump your feet while sitting. Its a surgical procedure that you dont need on top of the band. Its not necessary you will be moving around dont do it. -
Considering Malpractice Suit, Lap Band Eroded ....thoughts ?
cheryl2586 replied to brent0517's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well first of all shame on us for what giving our opinions who said it was his fault. We are not children and are old enough to give an opinion because after all isnt that why people ask questions on here to get others opinions and secondly I think everyone's intent is to show that it is hard to prove mal practice in every way and it can be a very emotional process. -
WELL I WASNT ON A CRUISE BUT I WENT TO AN ALL INCLUSIVE IN DOMINICAN AND DID FINE I ATE ENOUGH TO GET BY BUT I WASNT COCERNED WITH FOOD BUT THE ACTIVITIES THAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TO ME.

New Bandster Can't Eat Hardly Anything! What Can I Do?
cheryl2586 replied to melgreen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should still be on clear liquids at this point not mushy food. I would try liquids and see if that doesnt help with the swelling -
Feeling A Little Bit Discouraged!
cheryl2586 replied to Crissy8705's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would try cutting out the mashed potatoes they are a lot of carbs I know they put them on the list of mushies but they really are just carbs. Refried beans are a good source of protein but then again they are high in carbs also. I think you need to eat something high in protein at night so your body will keep burning all night. Try cutting out the mash and see what happens. -
Considering Malpractice Suit, Lap Band Eroded ....thoughts ?
cheryl2586 replied to brent0517's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I dont think that its a law suit you have to have a lot of hard core evidence to prove malpractice. Their gonna ask you some nasty questions about why didnt you insist he look at it after you were discharged from the hospital. The band dislodge because you did that. He only filled you because you asked him too but I dont see here where you ever went back to him and asked him to look at your band that they will consider your fault. It is very hard to prove malpractice on a doctor. Other than fill you I dont see what he did wrong. -
You cant make him do something he doesnt want to do. Its like making and alcoholic go to AA when they dont want help. Although you are his spouse and care about him he needs to care about him and if he doesnt then its kind of hard for you to keep wanting this for him when he doesnt want it. I would say just leave him alone for a while and see what happens.

Help Me Understand How The Lap Band Helps You?
cheryl2586 replied to germanmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So B52 you thought you would have the band and not put any work in to it? Come on you have to do some of it. Even on a diet the diet wont work unless you work with it. Im not sorry I did it because I surely couldnt have lost 70lbs without it. I get full faster but my hunger was never satisfied some people not all will never get hunger control so its up to me not to eat like a pig and I dont I have normal portions and thats it or under normal portions I never go back for seconds and I eat very healthy with lots of fruit and vegetables and a little meat. Sometimes I have sweets but not often because I cant have just one piece of chocolate and be satisfied. If you look at that you will never have to do anything and lose weight that is one mistake because most have to help some do nothing and lose but most people have to work at it always. -
Help Me Understand How The Lap Band Helps You?
cheryl2586 replied to germanmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am coming up on two years banded the first year was a breeze but now I am still hungry but dont eat and pretty much have come to the conclusion I am dieting as I was before the band. I cant get too much of a fill because I have issues eating then it is a real problem. I think more people have issues with the band than they are willing to admit after a few years. It helps in the beginning but it never ever took my hunger away. I had and have still to this day had to control that. You have to go in to this whole thing with the mind set that you have to do some of the work it wont do it for you for me it has done about 10 percent and I have done the other 90 I get full quick yes but am hungry in about two hours and have since losing weight become severely hypoglycemic so I need to eat frequently. Does it happen to everyone No but thats my story -
Help... Newbie And Scared
cheryl2586 replied to Whitegurl_80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are given a post op diet for a reason. Your stomach churns and moves to digest food and that is why your on liquids so that you wont have your stomach working extra hard to digest the food. Secondly hunger wont kill you stop eating things your not supposed to or you wont do anything but fail. Your given post op instructions for a reason and if you dont want to follow them why did you have surgery. We were/are all still hungry but dont eat just because we are hungry. Have some constraint please. For God sake you can go a few days without food it wont kill you. -
Insurance Won't Approve Rebuckling Of Lap Band!
cheryl2586 replied to Marianne390's topic in Insurance & Financing
What do you mean by unbuckle and rebuckled I did not think once the band was sewn in place it could be undone or it would have to be removed completely and replaced if thats what your talking about. Never heard of it being unbuckled because of a slip usually just unfilled or removed -
Did you have the band or the by pass because they usually dont put in a catheter for band patients and only do an upper GI for by pass patients. So which did you have????

Ibruprofen Or Other Anti-inflammatories After Lap Band Surgery?
cheryl2586 replied to Annfargo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I take ibuprophen regularly with meals of course. I have for almost two years and never had an issue I have very bad osteo arthritis and tylenol does not work and who wants to live on narcotics. I would say use them but eat with it. If you buy the small rounds ones they shouldnt sit in your pouch but go right through. I couldnt live without it most days. -
Need Advice...failing With Lap Band After 2 Years
cheryl2586 replied to titan05's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Titan I too am coming up on my two years being banded I lost 70lbs then quit smoking a year ago and gained 20 back. Its been hard because I moved and have had issues with doctors but I only have 3 cc's in my band. Sugar is my sin and I love it but the pain in my knees are coming back and I hate myself some days for not getting to goal by now but we are human and it happens. After today I am spending the rest of the the weekend on liquids so that by monday my stomach will be back to normal all I can tell you is get another fill I am waiting for this doctor to take me on as his patient but might not be after the first of the year. I dont really want anymore fills because I have issues eating now with so little in my band and that is why I went to eating bad things it goes down better and I dont have to worry about getting stuck. We dont have to be failures all we need is to get our minds excited like post surgery and thats what Im doing starting tomorrow. -

Nutritional Supplements -- Worth The Issues?
cheryl2586 commented on Sherrirbgr's blog entry in Sherrirbgr's Blog
I dont take any supplements and do just fine. Its all about your diet. I am eating a balanced diet and my vitamin levels are normal. I dont understand why you would risk erosion by not telling your doctor about the reflux. If you keep having it, it could cause Barretts esophagus a pre cancer so you better be careful with that.
